      The Nettuno is more of an exact clone of the F154 V8 in the California T minus 2 cylinders lobbed off, with unique to Maserati cylinder heads that feature ignition 'pre-chambers.' The 690T from the Quadrifolgios is slightly further revised from the F154, different bore/stroke, etc. The Nettuno and F154 share identical bore & stroke, internal hardware (bolts), coolant passages, etc. The Nettuno then uses dressings (alternator, a/c compressor, etc) from the 690T.

      @@95mushroom From what I can tell the f154 seems to have a different bore x stroke to both the 690T and the Nettuno, maybe the Nettuno is just a bored out 690T? It does look like they have the same stroke length but a different bore diameter making the Nettuno 3.0 instead of 2.9.

    In a perfect world, Maserati would make an M3 fighter with the Nettuno engine. I feel like a something in the compact class would be considerably more compelling than the Ghibli and Quattroporte for those looking for a sport sedan. Enough to make me dream at least.

  • @GSmith-dd7yq
    @GSmith-dd7yq 10 месяцев назад

    When you review cars like this, you need to take into account the depreciation - in other words, you should reflect the fact that you can pick a slightly used one up for less than $100k. Perhaps way below $100k - and some new ones are discounted already below $100k. That makes it a true Macan and X3/4M competitor. In that light, sounds like an awesome car for someone that doesn't want to drive what he/she sees every day. Speaking with experience - I bought a 1.5 year old Maserati Quattroporte Trofeo w/ 10k miles for $82k - stickered at $150k - and it's a beast for this price. Same thing is happening with the Gran Turismo - they are already getting discounted by $40k. So again, need to consider this in your reviews! But great work as always guys!

    Am I the only one who actually likes the Grecale? It's really an extended stelvio. Yes, the front looks better on the stelvio, but everything else, including the interior, is better on the grecale.

    • @The_Stanman
      @The_Stanman 10 месяцев назад +2

      I generally hate Maseratis, but am also oddly drawn to the Grecale. I think it's the perfect size. Interior is in another world than Stelvio and it's slightly bigger. Great ride/handling balance. Price discounts have made me consider, which I never thought I'd say about a Maserati.

    Maserati is getting ever closer to making cars that make sense - the car's dynamics seem to be where they now need to be. Next phase is giving the interior a sense of occasion, like a Jaguar/Maserati of a decade ago - lots of wood and chrome and style. I believe there is a real market for a "handbag on wheels" kind of car - something about style and fashion where the emotional, Italian-ness makes sense, and for people who don't want a hardcore M or AMG. But still has to be fast and dynamic because Maserati. They've almost found it. The styling needs to be a little more expressive on the outside and much more expressive on the inside.

If you want to have a closed course and navigate confusing and distracting systems while accomplishing driving challenges or something, then that seems great. I know Thomas is a skilled professional driver but other drivers on the road need to be considered when adding unnecessary distractions/risks for our entertainment purposes. The car does seem really nice too, sad about the color name though.

    I only watched this video because it is you two, your channel is first class. But I don't give two craps about all these blob shaped, overweight SUV's. I don't care how much witchcraft they throw at them to make them fast or handle. Bring back affordable, fun to drive, reasonable weight cars. Otherwise, I will continue to drive old, rebuildable cars. They cost less in the long run and offer more fun. BTW, I daily an 2001 F150, still rebuildable but some plastics are getting hard to find and a 1966 MG Midget for weekend fun. The MG is completely rebuildable do to a great aftermarket support.
