Had an Infiniti G37x. Man I really miss it. Should have kept it. Everything worked. For those who don't know, it's nearly the same engine as the Nissan 370Z. But stretched out with 4 doors, so you can roll with friends. It's the more adult and super luxury Z. All leather everywhere. The entire dash would move automatically for easy ingress and egress!! Most cars still don't have that. That alone really spoiled me for all future "regular" cars. Mine was a rarity. The x at the end means something very kewl. Rear biased, ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Crazy good grip for a SEDAN. No snow tires required. If I found a clean one again, I'd get another. That was the last great Nissan/Infiniti engine! Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
When did you sell that? Been daily driving a '13 G37xS sedan since Oct 2016. What Nissan should do: A $30k FR, with 250hp called Silvia. A $40k Z with as much NA hp as they can squeeze out of that V6. A $50k stripped out, track focused NA version called Nismo. And a $60k, 500 plus HP twin turbo. All of them with a manual option. What they actually do….
it's 2024, there simply will not be any truly cheap sports cars anymore. Even the gt86 cost 25,600 at release back in 2012 which, adjusted for inflation, is roughly 35k today. Modern cars also have a ton more legislation and safety systems that they have to take into account - all of which bumps the price up. You are delusional if you think there is a genuine opportunity for car manufacturers to make a profit doing the R&D, designing and building a $30k two seater sports car today. Cars aren't an extension of the average person's personality anymore. Most people want an appliance that gets them from point A to point B and the less they have to interact with it, the better.
@@slothpatronus2704 I said $30k not $40k so don't put words in my mouth to try and make your point. Even now, $40k is definitely not "truly cheap" and the lack of demand is bringing prices down on lot of things back down. Just saying "adjusted for inflation" and paying whatever is totally unreasonable and a terrible financial decision to boot. I bought my 2017 BRZ Performance new for $25k , which was way below MSRP, because like now, demand was very low in 2017. I was test driving Camaro SS 1LE's for $34K at the time, which was $12k below msrp. Nothing has changed with regards to technology, safety, legislation, performance, or anything else since then other than price inflation. If I had unlimited money, I'd buy one, RB swap it with a 6speed manual, then drift it round Nissans HQ with a sign on top saying, "this is so what you should have done"
To be fair, who buys a Z and leaves it stock? That's like buying a muscle car and leaving it stock. The issue to me with this car is that it's way too expensive. The issues with this car can easily be fixed with the aftermarket, but at this price of a car, you would want it to start out cheaper so you have money left over for the aftermarket.
@@raneer_6567if I'm spending almost 70k on a car i shouldnt feel the NEED to upgrade stuff on it for at least a few years considering its already an upgraded version of another car

Nissan is so, so good at making sports cars...that are amazing deals later. The VQ/VR engines are so good for modification, and the older platforms have SO much aftermarket support; you guys nailed it with the "three owners" of the original video. Brand new, there's just way too much competition. Few years (or more) down the line, and it becomes a LOT more compelling as a platform to add power, stiffness, grip, etc.
VR30 is old already. and the Q60 looks way better than this and has AWD. they could have made a new NA platform for this Z in the 350hp range. or a single turbo.
It's hard to make that argument when no one is buying them new. I mean, what sort of used stock can you expect in 5-10 years if no one is buying these things now? At that point, every example that comes up for sale will have been garage-kept, original tires, less than 10k km/mi, etc, etc.
@@redlion145 oh yeah you are right. usually with the infinitis luxury people with bad credit buy them new but those ppl can get benz/bmw now bc they approve anyone these days. and the prior Zs sold super well too. these nissan zs will not be everywhere in 10 years like the VQs are
Although I don't agree that the Nismo Z looks better than the Supra, because I'm stubborn and an MkV enthusiast, the updated look on the Nismo does look incredible. That rear end looks amazing, and I already thought the rear on the non Nismo looked great.
Aesthetics are subjective but i personally think the new supra looks like what a 13 year old thinkd a sports car should look like. Looks aside I think the supra is a better car though
I drove the new Z when it came out and I really wanted it to be good. I owned a 76 280z and a 79 280zx and love the looks of this new Z. Unfortunately that’s where the love stops for me. It drives more like a GT car than a sports car. I will stick with the old Z’s.
Funny thing is, I’m a sales person at a Nissan dealer. Any random person commenting/complimenting the car who then asks the price, when they find out they’re always like “wow that’s a great price” yet they sit in show rooms collecting dust😂
Comedy gold for me was when my local Nissan dealer got one last year and had a $20K dealer markup on it so the window sticker said $89,900 😂😂😂 Still sitting there of course even without the markup.
You’d think that by recycling an old platform they’d be able to keep these nismos at $48k. It’d be an amazing car at $48k with a manual option. …but $60k+… As a previous Z owner, this doesn’t properly scratch the itch I’ve had. Supra isn’t doing it either. Maybe the next MR2? Can Mitsubishi or Mazda enter the chat again?
I can remember shopping for a 240 Z back in the early 70s. They weren’t 66, they weren’t 36, they were 3.6. And quite a bit nicer looking too I would say.
Historical the Z has never been the logical performance bargain.... It's exactly what it always has been and if you buy one and love it. Kudos. Let's hope Nissan doesn't track your driving habits and deny your warranty if you blow up for exceeding the speed limit

I am still looking to see my first Nissan Z on the road here in Southern California. Since its introduction, I have yet to see one. Is it fake news? Is it a rumor given life via VR? I bought a bottle of wine to celebrate my first sighting. It is turning into vinegar waiting to be opened. Great review on vaporware. So, now there is a Nissan Z and a more expensive Nismo upgrade, neither one seen on the road. Endangered species are seen more often than the new Z. What gives? There are 44 new Z's within a 50 mile radius of my home for sale at dealers, many marked down and the majority are in just two colors, grey or black. There is a $13-$15,000 difference or so between the Nismo and base Z's, some more so. A chunk of change for an extra 20 horsepower and a few suspension goodies, interior goodies and pin striping. I may go to my grave never having seen a Z on the road in the metal. Maybe I will drop by a Nissan dealership to see one, but the Nissan dealership down the street from me, closed up shop more than a year ago and is now being turned into a Toyota dealership. Maybe a day trip? Oh, I forgot about taxes, license and misc. charges. Getting close to $80,000 for a fully specked out model. I feel a "nope" coming on. Even with a $5,000 discount and presently the cost of financing with great credit, this is one expensive vehicle for the great majority of people out there. Too bad, but at these prices, even used Z's in the future, will be like hen's teeth.
First 2 minutes and I’ve sat in one of those and I can’t fit and I’m 5’11 so I’m a bit over average height I would have to change the seats because I can’t fit at all
The issue is the price. How did they get to this price? If it’s based on a previous platform it should’ve been a lot more affordable. Not 30K, but heck 40-55K. At that price I’m going with a Integra Type S.
Nissan keeps making this mistake... Nobody wants to pay a premium on a dated platform regardless of how fun it is. The GTR prices nearer to the end of its production were also insane for what it was.

I’m glad it exists. Nissan missed out with no manual, pricing the Nismo much higher than the Supra GR and they gotta fix those few interior quality bits, work out the suspension and it’s a good sports car. It’s like, it came out half baked.
As a Z enthusiast I concur with your assessments 100% - I've owned Nissans including Z's since 1995 - Agree the price bump is not justified and frankly keeping my money in my pocket until they release a Nismo in a manual - Can't believe a Z is even made in an auto and even greater blasphemy that a manual is not available - Too late for 2025, hoping in 2026 Nissan pivots on price and transmission.
Can this bumper fit on the normal Z. I believe some of these manufactures don't listen. It was glaringly clear that square shape was not sitting well with many.
Can people start addressing the issues with the engine? This shares the engine in the newer infiniti q60-q50 which have been having turbo and engine block issues since 2017. Would love for that to get talked about more so the issues can be addressed
This car is so much better in yellow and in the sport trim. 400 horsepower for $45K(ish) is a way better price point, especially when equipped with a manual. We really enjoy ours, but the prices get crazy as you increase trims. The stock tires could use more grip, and the paint is really thin, but it is a blast to drive and gets tons of attention.

What they actually do….
the vr30 doesnt have any NA power. they would need to make something new. or an NA version of the GTR engine.
Ok, but the stripped out track one should be the $40k one.
it's 2024, there simply will not be any truly cheap sports cars anymore.

Performance with the LSD will be able to be had under MSRP if not already in high 40s and at that price point it is very competitive.
the performance model is competitive under MSRP at like 44k but not at 50k where it it right now. only 2023 used models are at low 40s. and the base model is just unbuyable
Just for reference, a 1996 base model 300zx started at roughly $30,000 at MSRP (adjusting for inflation, about $75,000 today), with the 300zx turbo starting at about $44,000 ($88,000 adjusted for today).
Back then it was actually good value, now it's not. Even if it's a lot cheaper when factoring inflation in.

This car is so much better in yellow and in the sport trim. 400 horsepower for $45K(ish) is a way better price point, especially when equipped with a manual.
