  • The 2024 Jaguar F-Pace SVR ($110,020 starting in Canada, $93,175 starting in the US) is a supercharged V8 luxury SUV that comes at a bargain compared to its competition. It packs 542 horsepower and 512 lb ft of torque, giving the F-Pace SVR a claimed 0-100km/h time of just 4.0 seconds. But Jaguar has also aimed to offer luxury alongside this striking performance, so how does it perform as a fast and loud daily? Thomas and James are excited to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. SUBSCRIBE!

    • @beri232
      @beri232 6 месяцев назад +30

      As a service advisor…. can you elaborate on reliability for the newer models? Cuz the previous stuff truly has been garbage.

    • @T67GS300
      @T67GS300 6 месяцев назад

      @@beri232 So they generally have gotten better but all engines across the JLR lineup still have their issues.
      The 4 cylinders are plagued with coolant leaks from the turbo feed lines. They also stretch timing chains and destroy camshaft sprockets. You’ll get a nasty timing chain rattle on cold starts and when they’re really bad it’ll do it on every start.
      It’s not consistent, some will be dead reliable and some are just pieces of shit.
      The supercharged V6s and V8s (same engine in the 24’ SVR by the way this is the last model to use this engine as it has been in service since 2010) are plagued with coolant issues…BAD..
      They mainly leak from the water pumps, outlet pipes and rear coolant manifold pipes, you have to remove the supercharger to access them so it is expensive to do. It’s not a matter of if it will fail it’s WHEN it will fail. Other than that they honestly aren’t bad engines. The superchargers start to get noisy when high miles but I rarely see catastrophic failures with all of the engines across the board. The V6s and V8s will come in blown up because they’ve leaked coolant for so long that they overheat and cook head gaskets but again it’s rare.
      They still have infotainment glitches across all JLR models that’s something that won’t change.
      Boy that was long winded, that being said I would still happily own any SVR preferably the older ones because they sound the best.

    As the current owner of an SVR, I absolutely, completely love the driving experience, I have love Jaguar since I was a kid, but I’m never buying JLR again because of how much time it’s spent at the shop. The water pump. The goddamn water pump. Tons of electrical/ wiring issues. Jag dealerships being booked for months. Things with driver assist, the infotainment randomly acting up and then fixing themselves a day or two later.
    Again, when it works, it is sublime. I just hate taking it out on the highway worrying that something is going to randomly malfunction.

    Thomas and James, I freaking love you guys! Thanks for your epic content! As a former Jaguar F-Type owner, I too had a flawless experience with my JLR ride. My wife and I also love the F-Pace and the Land Rover Velar (same cars difference skins...essentially) and they do depreciate beautifully (for those of us that don't buy new cars)...but the kicker is that warranty companies don't trust JLR products and buying an extended warranty is nearly impossible. We had decided to buy a 2018 Velar with less than 40k miles, but my wife wanted a warranty. So we had the dealer price it out...and he came back with wide eyes and said "this is not like anything I've seen before." The RETAIL price of the 3 year, 36k additional mile warranty was nearly $10k! They were willing to discount it to $6500....but the price of the car was only $32,000! Sorry, not dropping nearly a quarter of the price of the car on a warranty.
    Otherwise...I love JLR's cars. (Currently shopping for an F-Type SVR...)

    great suv. Ive had a 2010 Jag XFR (very similar/same engine as this) for years now and its been a treat the entire time. Maintenance is not that bad and parts are reasonably priced if you do some digging for them. Like most cars today, these vehicles are all made with nuts, bolts, screws, and push pins which is a good thing! You can work on them yourself if you are handy at all and have a wonderful driving experience. In 40k of ownership I have replaced a fuel pump, vacuum pump gasket. Everything else has been regular maintenance.

Love it and exceeds expectations - especially on the highway. It's an SUV version of the F-Type, with better infotainment from Pivi Pro.
    F-Type is sunny day garage queen (so always sparkling clean) and my favorite vehicle ever. F-Pace is rainy day ride and/or hauler for items that dont fit in F-Type. Highly recommend both - especially F-Pace over the German options.

      Having the V6 supercharged I can assure you that this is the absolute sweet spot (great sound and acceleration)! The car is so good and fun I wouldnt even know what to ever replace it with…it’s reeeeally hard to find anything to complain about except that the sportiness comes at the price of a slight harsh ride for an SUV - but then again, it is astonishing how light an confident this drives around corners. Also, the cargo space is huge compared to the competition.

All except the build quality. I had 3 issues requiring it to go back to the dealership in the first 6 months. I just didn't want to live with that constant fear of what next, and will it be something that leaves me stranded. I ended up getting an X5 M50i instead. I sold my f-type r and ordered an f-pace svr in brg for my newborn as a dad wagon, just love that AJV8. It’s been surprisingly good, interior and tech is premium German, if not better in some areas. The ride was fine for me, given it’s on steel springs, jag know how to tune a chassis on those bumpy British b roads, that they can get a 2T suv to ride better than a German sports sedan is impressive, but that was in isolation - picked up a new Grecale trofeo for my wife and that on air rides noticeably smoother and handles flatter, it has none of that secondary roll you get in some German SUV’s on air and every RR product. I have an rs6 performance coming next year to replace the svr but these videos make me question keeping it - I’m going to have to remove the opf and tune it to get it to sound right
