      I was actually booed in a party for playing bass as the "guitar wasn't loud enough" lol.
      A girl approached me once thinking that I was the guitar player for the cover song of war pigs (Black Sabbath). Once she learnt that I was a bass player, she pretty much said that I was just moving around my fingers fast for nothing. To be fair, she was pretty drunk.
      Even after all this, I remain a proud bassist. I learnt the bass first then the guitar. And I always chose to play the bass.

    I'm more or less just starting my musical adventure. About 1 month in, couple dozen hours with bass. Seems easier to me. Still learning the notes to the frets, but this numbering method is teaching me faster as a means to achieve results. Still getting my fingers and hands used to it, also. The guys I'm learning and practicing with are pretty impressed with my results so far. Timing with hand movement and placement is challenging. I'm definitely making positive progress and have a great bunch of people around to help.

      I'm embarrassed to say this but I own a Peavey TL5 in pristine condition ( because I haven't learned to play it) and a Gibson EBO that I was given by my great uncle. I've had them Both for about 30 years. I would learn a bit then get busy with work and put them down for a couple of years and forget what little I had learned. I don't remember anything now at all. What is a good way to start from scratch and remember it? I've lost my books and I don't know the very basic notes. Could you help me get started again Please? P.S. life lesson I'll trade you. don't work to much or your wife will leave you after 28 years. "Balance is the Key to a happy life".

I can get them both used, with the Schecter in mint condition for $400 and the 505 in good condition for $350. I’d love to have anyone’s input. I know the differences in weight and neck profile, I guess I’m just curious if there’s any advantage in sound?

    Luke, you explain and demonstrate very well. Thank you, this really helps. I usually find it hard to follow because almost everybody else shoots the pickup and not the fret.

    Great tutorial. To add to the immersion, I'd suggest adding a "sing-a-long" style highlight to each note as it's played?

  • @danielhughes3758
    @danielhughes3758 6 лет назад +50

    "Super easy to play" and "guaranteed to impress" doesn't quite go together. It can definitely impress, but people who know how to play will quickly see through lack of skill. As soon as someone asks you to play something of your own your skills are put to the test.
    These bass lines are not bad and it's cool to know some stuff that people recognize, the "guaranteed to impress" part just really doesn't sit well with me

      Become A Bassist today I can say that I can play them all but I always do this minor mistake in the Another One Bites the Dust that I hit too many 0's. There's a little gap there and instead making this gap I'm playing an open string over and over again.

      I had some issues starting out with open notes. The sounded buzzy. They still feel weird but I've found a light smearing of molybdenum grease (pencil lead if you're in a pinch) where the strings enter the headstock really helped the open notes' buzz with my particular strings and bass.

    I was trying to learn that funky bass line from the Leon Haywood song "I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You" which many of you know today as "Nothin' But A G Thang" by Dre and Snoop. It requires more technique than I posses. This was much more suited to my ability, Thanks mate.
    editors note: I was able to put the bassline together in under 10 minutes. Ideal starting bassline for beginners like me.
