As a bassist, rhcp accompanies you all the way from easy bass lines to start with (californication, under the bridge…) to some where you can practice skills like sliding (give it away) and some of their more advanced stuff that includes slapping like ‘can’t stop’. I really love flea’s bass lines :)
***** That would be pretty badass. But I think I prefer playing the guitar. It's fun, the things you can learn never end and I actually think the basics are so easy. "If you know how to clap your hands you know how to play guitar" -Angus Young
***** No. Nonono I will not play 9 or 10 string guitar. I wanna keep my guitar simple and normal. Not making 7+ string guitars look bad or anything. Just... Don't want to sound Djent. Ugh.
Wes Barrett By underrated I don't mean underused or anything like that. I just find that rare bands try to release everything a bass has to offer. I think Tool has done some great work playing around with a bass.
Wes Barrett Yeah, that's true. But I've found that people don't let the bass shine in many songs. Usually it's just used for the rhythm (Well it technically is a rhythm instrument but it could have so much more to do).
Hey Bros, I just wanted to say thank you all for the incredible support on this video! Really thank you. Anyway i'm sorry if i didn't play some of your favorite songs but i had to choose "only" 100 songs! Of course there are hundreds of other great bass lines, and if you keep suggesting new songs, maybe i'll be able to make an other video medley :D Thank you so much guys, Stay Funky!! :)
Hey buddy!!!Thank you for the fantastic music, i thoroughly enjoyed all 13 minutes!! =D P.s. ho appena scoperto che sei Italiano!! Così ne approfitto per farti di nuovo i complimenti!!!
Enjoyed it. Loved the RHCP bits especially, but would also like to hear more Black Sabbath ones in the next one. For example Into the Void, Faeries Wear Boots, National Acrobat to name a few. Also Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas.
I used to play guitar and I currently play the drums. I started getting interested in bass but this guy completely did it for me. I saw this video last year and saved up money, and now I'm learning bass. You rock, and you're an inspiration!
FļašhiňgÐuð3 not at all if you knew anything about music you would know a bass is not a guitar, yeah some people call them bass guitars but it is nothing like a guitar, look at RHCP for example and muse
FļašhiňgÐuð3 There is a misconception that if you can play guitar, you can play bass as well and vice-versa - it's not that simple. Bass guitars generally have longer frets and use different types of strings which can take time to get used to - not to mention bassists generally play strings with their fingers, not a plectrum (though both are accepted ways to play). Also bass players don't generally play the chords a guitarist would play, they play outside the chords. To make better sense a tutor told me a guitarist would say the whole word, for example they would say 'dog' but a bassist would spell it out, "D-O-G" - bassists have the same end goal as guitarists but go about it differently. It's a different art to playing a guitar and is a learning curve all the same.

Most of these comments are an absolute joke. This guy is so talented and must have worked for ages to be able to learn and play all these bass lines perfectly (and back to back in one go) and yet most people are just bitching and moaning that their favourite song/band wasn't included. Absolutely pathetic

I remember watching this as a kid about 5 or 6 years ago when I was only just starting to pick up the bass and learn. 5 or 6 years down the line, I've just come off a European tour with cannibal corpse, I played bass for Ingested. I don't think I'd be much of a bassist or would have excelled as much as I have if it wasn't for this very video. Thank you Davie for everything.

I think there are more bass lines from Jamiroquai :-). All in all in think there are a bit too many from Jamiroquai (and not enough from the Beatles. For example Daytripper). But I know there is a second part. I did not listen to that yet.
To be fair Flea is literally half the band. Anything he plays is groovy as shit. Even in RHCP's not so popular songs, the bass lines are still sick and mostly carry the songs. That and John Frusciante, being the other half. Just my opinion obviously, don't get your panties in a twist if you disagree.
I keep seeing these comments like "why wasn't this in the list" and "why is seven nation army being played with a bass" and "too much RHCP". 1. This guy can't read your mind. He's gonna play what he likes. 2. The start of Enter Sandman is not played with a bass either. But he plays it anyway cause the bass is cool. 3. RHCP's bass lines are sound really nice and cater to this guy's music taste. All good?
This is the kind of support we need as a community of bassists. We all should just enjoy people's playing and this guy just offered to play us 100 riffs, for free on the internet. Soak it up and don't complain pls. Thank you for not being an anus.
+Matt Does Stuff Well RHCP are so well known because of Flea, but in my oppinion there is too many of them, and then he involved Primus and Tool only once. U can argue about Tool, but man, Les Claypool is one of the greatest bass player of all time, and he involved him once, with the song that isn't even in top 10 of his best bass performances!

This video got me into metal. About three years ago our class was shown this video in music and I remember hearing the baseline of for whom the bell tolls and thinking it sounded awesome. When I got home I listened to the song and it opened my eyes to the genre of heavy metal. Thank you so much Davie for setting me off on a musical journey.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that this video is 13 minutes long :D But watched it till the end, awesome as always bro! My favorite bass line is the last one, sounds too cool! I think next time you should include "Tommy The Cat" by Primus :P
He put a lot of the songs that sound similar right next to eachother, like i thought I was hearing another one bites the dust, but then another one bites the dust came on right after. Also He put I feel good, and Feel Good inc right by eachother haha

At 7:29 - for sakes of everything that is good , that bass line DOES NOT belong to Vannila Ice... It was written by John Deacon of Queen for "Under Pressure",
unemployicus The bassline is sampled from the Queen song, but features an additional lead-in note not found on the Queen version. The kid in the above video plays the lead-in note, hence it IS the Vanilla Ice version.
I know what both songs are, I just think that he should have put it under the band who created it, that's all. Both songs are great, just, it wasn't created by whoever played bass for Vanilla Ice, unless it was directly sampled from the song Edit: I know "Vanilla Ice" is a person not a band. I meant whoever recorded the bass line in the studio with him.

I think this guy might like Red Hot Chili Peppers.
i mean, probably, but you gotta admit flea is an awesome bassists
You can say what you want about RHCP, but you CAN'T say Flea isn't an amzing bassist
Every bassist i've ever known loved rhcp
As a bassist, rhcp accompanies you all the way from easy bass lines to start with (californication, under the bridge…) to some where you can practice skills like sliding (give it away) and some of their more advanced stuff that includes slapping like ‘can’t stop’. I really love flea’s bass lines :)
It's his favorite band he said that on another video

Also wrong lyrics lmao

Same here
I wish you had made Livin’ On A Prayer 50 instead of 51 since you’d be halfway there on the bass lines. We were this close to perfection.
Haha you mean the lyriks?
Well it is the 1st one of the second half so yeah! He was halfway there! 😂
Well at fifty one you are then halfway there,
@Jolan Krahn what difference does it make - another bassline that should've made it
Actually you're only halfway there once you've completed song 50, so once you start song 51. I think he did it on purpose.
Bass is such an underrated instrument. I love it so much. More of a guitar guy myself but bass is amazing.
Ugh.
I plan on learning how to play it once I get one.

I used to play guitar and I currently play the drums. I started getting interested in bass but this guy completely did it for me. I saw this video last year and saved up money, and now I'm learning bass. You rock, and you're an inspiration!
But if you know how to play a guitar why would you need to learn how to play a bass?
FļašhiňgÐuð3 Why would you not???
Leah Maycee Because a bass is a guitar.

To be fair Flea is literally half the band. Anything he plays is groovy as shit. Even in RHCP's not so popular songs, the bass lines are still sick and mostly carry the songs. @@henrydeshon8286 where?
7:29 #60 that bass line was originally by Queen, Under Pressure, and was then stolen by Vanilla Ice in his only hit, Ice Ice Baby. Fact Check
That's the joke friend
Haven't listened to it yet but yes, Vanilla Ice stole that lick from Queen.
But Davie Played it with an Extra note just like Vanilla Ice added so He's right
Sampled*

rct3isepic 69th like
He looks younger because this is something only recommended could have dug up from 5 years ago
#32 that baseline was used in "super freak" 10 years prior to "can't touch this"
lots from RHCP, flea is too damn good
When I saw 100 and bass in the thumbnail I thought he found a 100 string bass
youre a crackhead, but the type of crackhead that we need in this world
Taryn Cabingas thanks
Xando62 I don’t think anyone could play that
BlazingFury play that might be possible but tune that is impossible
This video got me into metal.
About three years ago our class was shown this video in music and I remember hearing the baseline of for whom the bell tolls and thinking it sounded awesome. When I got home I listened to the song and it opened my eyes to the genre of heavy metal. Thank you so much Davie for setting me off on a musical journey.
69 liked...lmao
great music choise
You chose wisely!
Smash like or I will remove his five years of interest in heavy metal.
The fact that like 10 percent of these are all RHCP lol
I have no idea how Davie has not been snapped up by a famous band...
roflcopterkklol he probably has been offered to be in a band but refused to keep doing RUclips
@@Jegbmf True, someone would have say "Impressive but can you play in a band"
Because he is a famous band...
He doesn't need anyone holding him back
He slapped them all
THAT TRANSITION BETWEEN 68 AND 69 WHEN YOU CHANGED THE TUNE ON THE FIRST STRING WHOA
cateye008 and the baseline in take the power back that he tuned to drop d for is one of the coolest baselines ever
cateye008 Your profile pic says it all

Fo yo infomation its called the fowth string ,mkay.
That’s Davie for you
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that this video is 13 minutes long :D But watched it till the end, awesome as always bro! My favorite bass line is the last one, sounds too cool! I think next time you should include "Tommy The Cat" by Primus :P
I will :) Thanks as always Bro, keep it up with your arrangements, i follow you ;)
Davie504 Wow, thanks bro!! :)
I'm with the bass greats
Omg
@@KingCrimson-420 Definitely yes, and californication wasn’t bad at all
*_Great fun!_*
The sorta thing I was practicing late 1960s *_(Jack Bruce!!!)_*
Simple line, play slow to learn, funk it up a bit, then hit speed! 🙂
Best songs on the bass “procèdes to play everything by rhcp”
Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai as well 🤣
Correct
Could have used more Clif Burton though, and only one Primus, not even the best, damn
cuz flea creates some of the best basslines
Flea is a amazing bassist.
He put a lot of the songs that sound similar right next to eachother, like i thought I was hearing another one bites the dust, but then another one bites the dust came on right after. Also He put I feel good, and Feel Good inc right by eachother haha
But he missed Ice Ice Baby and Under Pressure.
I've seen this like 20 times and it never gets old.
How many amazing bass lines you have???
Stevie wonder: yes
I can’t get over the fact that the bassline for Ice Ice Baby is so strikingly similar to Under Pressure (feat. David Bowie) by Queen
It’s the same song, ice ice baby is a sampled version of under pressure. It was very popular to sample songs in the early hip hop era.
@@graysonwalters6401 its a staple of hip hop period to sample songs. Hip hop has a rich history of musical and lyrical allusion, pretty awesome facet of it
Yeah that’s what I said jackass
@@graysonwalters6401 thats....hostile....and its not exactly what you said either, its not just a staple of early hip hop it is and forever will be. Calm down man I'm not attackin ya
I literally said it was very popular meaning that it was a staple or whatever. Acting like you know everything about hip hop doesn’t make it credited man, so yeah you are a jackass
This actually got me playing my bass again. I learned spoonman and a couple other songs :D
Spoonman fucking rocks man
7:30
You mean "Queen - Under Pressure"
YoshiGaming Ice ice baby has the same base line p
Yeah, but Vanilla Ice didn't exactly come up with the bass line by himself.
Holly Raasch *bass
3:59 Also Rick James - Super Freak
Andrew Beard he sampled it
Here to like the video so it starts randomly showing up in recommend for people
Kept waiting for My Generation by The Who

ItsManta the video only runs 13:05
lol my ipad said 13:06
lol xD
toby Mine is 00:00 to 13:06.
At 7:29 - for sakes of everything that is good , that bass line DOES NOT belong to Vannila Ice... It was written by John Deacon of Queen for "Under Pressure",
The Vanilla Ice one throws in an extra note, which he played in the video. It is indeed the Vanilla Ice version.
Actually they were just called Queen, nor The Queen ;)
RanceChampion There is no vanilla a ice version. This was ripped off from Queen: watch?v=a-1_9-z9rbY
unemployicus
The bassline is sampled from the Queen song, but features an additional lead-in note not found on the Queen version. The kid in the above video plays the lead-in note, hence it IS the Vanilla Ice version.
RanceChampion Vanilla sampled the line without credit and was ordered to pay Queen and Bowie royalties. There is no Vanilla version.
You are the man! I just brought a new bass, u gave me the motivation to rock out like u! Thx u sir!!
7:33 where did Vanilla Ice get that bass line again *cough* Queen *cough* sorry I got that Corona
Oops 🤭
Exactly!
Under pressure
But he played vanilla ice. They added one note. But the original song is waaay better!

Yes, I just chose to search up top iconic bass lines and my time model came out
Yeeeeeah brudda
Indeed
yeah
Top 100 basslines
**starts list with a guitar riff**
It could be classed as a bassline since it's put down an octave from normal guitar tuning which is where a bass plays
Legendary bass licks you thought were bass licks (but arent bass licks)
The word "Bass" primarily describes the register. If you play single notes low on a keyboard it's still a bassline.
Tove
Yeah, but it’s a pedal doing it. I wouldn’t consider it a bassline personally but to each his own. Was trying to make a joke, not spark a debate
@@ethansics9400 Shut up Idiot, Admit you were wrong .
For number 60, Im pretty sure that you spelled both "Under Pressure" and "Queen" wrong.
Holy hell, I got pissed when I saw it!
Ha
Samulele Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
I know what both songs are, I just think that he should have put it under the band who created it, that's all. Both songs are great, just, it wasn't created by whoever played bass for Vanilla Ice, unless it was directly sampled from the song
Edit: I know "Vanilla Ice" is a person not a band. I meant whoever recorded the bass line in the studio with him.
Samulele Um, Under Pressure came first
