well, that's the 1st time I've heard of Tim being called "scary" !! Welcome to the World of Home Free! They are the only known Country A Capella vocal band. The have over 180 videos up on their channel and nearly 1/2 billion views. I think you'll be amazed to hear more of their music, as they are well known for their complex harmonies...also one does have a musical theater degree (Austin Brown the lead singer) and the other 4 have degrees in music theory. The also are fun guys & do some really goofy videos that are still quite stellar in their musicality....my suggestion for a 2nd reaction, would be a complete 180 turn and react to their cover of Dire Straits 1985 hit, "Brothers in Arms"...it'll blow your mind !!!

lol The ''scary' bass is five-octave Tim Foust, who is arguably the funniest of the group. (check out Story Time With Tim - Nae Nae if you don't believe it). Home Free is country at the core but sing all genres. This song is fairly ancient and was part of the track for the movie O Brother Where Art Thou.
Way to many great performances to name and you really can't go wrong with any choice. They have some great originals: Dive Bar Saints, Love Me Like That, or Dreamer. Their recent cover of Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms is crazy good, as is In The Blood. For pure harmony, Helplessly Hoping, Seven Bridges Road. For more country, try their covers of Take Me Home Country Roads/John Denver, One Man Band, Woman, Amen/Female Mash up. For R&B/MoTown, Love Train, When A Man Loves A Woman, or Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On Mashup. For fun, there's the Butts Remix, Country Fried Pop Medley, and All About the Bass. And before I forget, beatboxer Adam Rupp does a solo at every concert. Pull one of those up and get your mind blown. Thanks guys.

If you want an example of just how "bottomless" Tim's voice is (plus how scary he can look) check out their cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues"... The last note he hits and the look he has (thanks to terrific lighting) makes him look slightly demonic.

I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. Tim Foust is the best bass singer in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. They lean towards country but can sing any genre. They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

Ring of Fire. another Johnny Cash cover. 3. Champagne Taste (on a beer budget) Home Free original. 4. American Pie. A Don McLean cover with the original singer/song writer Mr. McLean himself. He chose Home Free to record the 50th anniversary recording of American Pie with him. 5. Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late, great Kenny Rogers. Kenny called Home Free to record this with him. The world of Home Free is an amazing place so welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. Buckle up. Glad to have you!

Children Go Where I Send Thee is AMAZING!! as sung by Kenny Rogers and Home Free. They've also joined with the Oak Ridge Boys for Elvira. The little skit they do around Thank God I'm a Country Boy is cute and it doesn't cut into the greatness of their rendition. They joined with Lee Greenwood for God Bless the USA, filmed remotely during the quarantine and fit together perfectly.

Welcome to Home Free. They won the NBC show the Sing Off (2013) the year after Pentatonix won. They are amazingly talented. The beatboxer is incredible and has won championships. Funny enough, some of them did start in college as music majors. This song is over 100 years old and was made popular in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou with George Clooney. Lots of singers have covered it. Chance, (he was filmed last in this video) did the mouth harp sound. Tim Foust, the bass, has a 5 octave range. They can all sing and all take the lead depending on the song. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own songs. Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, Auld Lang Syne to hear great harmonies. Good reaction boys. You need headphones though.

The song was first made popular by 'The Soggy Bottom Boys' in the soundtrack from the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou'. So it is already in a movie !

Next, you need to listen to their cover of Johnny Cash's song "Ring Of Fire". They feature Avi Kaplan former Bass singer of Acapella group, Pentatonix. So, with Home Free' s bass, Tim Foust, that's double scary!
Plus, Adam Rupp, the beatboxer really goes all in on this one. They put their own spin on the song, that's why it has millions of views.

    For recomenations:
"Champagne taste (on a beer budget)" is a Tim Foust original and he sings the lead.
"Cross that bridge", original, Rob Lundqvist sings lead.
"Cover me up", cover, (Adam) Chance sings lead. Oh and watch it to the end.

    For some mix lead:

Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! The 4 singers will switch leads in different songs. Sometimes the beatboxer, Adam Rupp will sing harmony . Their soul is country, but they will do other types of music with equal ability. Watch Adam Rupp drum solo (on Utube) and you will be amazed. I am a new subscriber and a home fry. BTW, that's a gator.

This video’s theme and setting is based on the 2000 film. O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?,. Also look at “Ring of Fire” by Home Free with Pentatonix’s Bass, Avi Kaplan and their version “God Bless the USA” with Lee Greenwood and the USAF Singing Sergeants. They gave two versions of the latter song . . . Find the one with the guest singers listed.

As you can see they’re an a cappella group with a world class beatboxer and mean that literally. You should dive in because it’s worth it. Ring of Fire, When a Man Loves a Woman, The Butts Medley, Helplessly Hoping, Mayday, Mary di You Know and Brothers at Arms should get you started. So,so worth!

That “scary” guy besides being an accomplished singer was for a time a professional song writer. Some of his songs that home free has recorded include “Champagne taste on a beer budget” and “Snow Globe”. You should also check our Peter Hollins featuring Tim Foust “Misty Mountains”. For “scary” that might qualify. 😎 For something that will give you goosebumps and grab your emotions you need to watch “Brothers in Arms”.

    1) This is a very old country folk song with its beginning probably lost in time. Its popularity was resurrected in the 2000 movie O Brother, Where Art Thou, sung by Gorge Clooney. Huh! I just looked up the year and it happened to be the same year Home Free got its start. The only remaining original member is the beatboxer Adam Rupp. His bother Chris, another original, left the group in early 2016 and bass/baritone Adam Chance (Chance is in the black vest here) stepped in.
And 2) I wanted to recommend a couple of videos from their live shows. The first is Home Free Concert Morrison, IL 8/19/15. It's almost half-hour long and you'd almost think this was a comedy troupe disguised as a music group. The second is titled Home Free Falls in Denver 2018. It's 4 minutes of different parts of another outdoor gig that follows Tim speaking to the fans just before the show starts. Both of these videos are taken from the fan area and show not only their talent but the closeness and the love and appreciation between Home Free and home fries.
