Fantastic review. If you could only purchase one of these, which one (color), would you choose. Very hard to find in US, so I have not seen one in person. Thank you.
Hi....i was in the queue too...i was in front of you...we were somewhat entertained by the comings and goings of the nightclubbers opposite... the security was a step up from March 2022...i liked that security every hour would record who was in the queue to prevent queue jumpers....glad that the weather was very warm too. The flippers were very obvious to spot. The pinch point..where the construction was taking place could have been handled better..i opted for Pacific Ocean...i am happy with my purchase....i think i am done queing now for Swatch x ( ). I have worn my watch to work and have had positive comments.👍👍👍👍
I agree, Swatch Oxford street queue management wasn't too bad. They even handed out bottles of water. Still, not something I'm prepared to do again in a hurry 😁. I'm happy with my watches too. Maybe will trt to get one of the vintage ones later... when hype cools down a bit 🙂.
Nice review thanks. Now the hype has died down a bit, I picked up the Pacific Ocean edition in my local swatch store in France. The Atlantic and Antartic editions were out of stock. I did saw the Atlantic one in a display box, but I was a bit disappointed in the blue when I saw it in person, the yellow definitely pops on the wrist.
You know i love the channel and respect your opinion so i dont mean no disrespect my friend. 400 usd for a toy watch, im sorry after 2 years the movement will fall apart and the swatch groups solution would be you spending another 400 usd for another toy watch. Its not for me but thank you for spending time and money and showing these watches. If you like them and gonna keep them, im not being sarcastic, have fun and joy wearing them and keep up the good work and great videos.. 🙂
I've been to Swatch store and they said that the movement can be replaced under warranty and out of the warranty it will cost about 80$ to replace it so don't worry too much about the movement!
1. The watch is sealed, glued together, it cannot be opened to even swap the movement out 2. The Sistem51 movement is soldered together and cannot be serviced, even by an independent watchmaker, due to how it is constructed, a watchmaker on youtube pulled one apart and had to wreck it.
Great review; very well thought out. I agree with everything said. I think I still want one as it is competitive with other plastic "dive" watches on the market, but there is room for simple improvements that would make this good watch a great watch.
Better option is to purchase 3rd party case similar to this one and build your own watch. As far I know Sistem51 isn't available to purchase and only option as mentioned in video is to replace whole watch.
@@josefelixmiguel9700 And why is it better to have scratched front glass and unscratched back? With nato you don't even see much of the back case. I now use a mineral back watch on a nato for almost half a year with no visible scratches. If people wear it for long enough to get nato scratches, the plastic will probably get scratched worse than mineral.
@@danylo4670 What does it matter if the underside has scratches when the whole thing will break in a few years due to a plastic pallet fork and escapement wheel and is completely unserviceable? So you can see the broken movement in crystal clear clarity before you throw it out? lol! A large percentage of people will just leave in the box as a "collector's item" so again not needed, especially considering that NATO straps block the entire view of the rear of the watch anyways LMFAO!
Hello! I have an Indian Ocean, I’m curious if anyone else is experience the issue of an inaccurate date dial. The date window constantly shows a mid interval between two dates e.g 25 & 26. never displaying a clear and accurate date. When resetting the date with the bezel, it allows me to dial in the date but then when setting the bezel, the date jumps to the mid interval. Any help is much appreciated.
My biggest questions going into this video: 1) is it better quality than the moonswatch? 2) other than the Blancpain name on it are the specs worth the price?
My reaction after the video: 1) seems liked they learned from the MoonSwatch and this is better - although I still need to hear a bit longer term how the case and movement hold up/ breakability and if the color bleeds? Both of which were issues with moonswatch. 2) for what you get for the price i'm still not sold - basically paying for the Blancpain name on there.
1 - Definitely Yes 2 - Short answer - No. Long answer - we still get bunch of 'interesting' materials here like Sapphire (on the wrong side imho 🙂), scratch resistance coated glass on the dial crystal and on the bezel, the bezel mechanism is done well too, and an A grade superluminova lume on the dial and bezel. So, I would say, if we take Blancpain branding out, this watch would still be more expensive than your average SISTEM51, probably costing around $250 - $300 bucks imho.
The Sistem51 movement is actually non serviceable. It's entirely machine made, laser regulated and contains no screws. Therefore it cannot be disassembled. It's held together by rivets or small spot welds. I happen to own a watch powered by te Sistem 51 and only learned this after owning it for a couple of years.
@@danylo4670 I never insinuated they're not replaceble, Obviously they can be replaced. . He specifically asked for any info regarding servicing not replacement.
thx for your tips! I was going to buy few just today...but..I'll think about it a bit more :-) a 4th thing that annoys me, it's the lack of a rotor, it would have been muuuuch more appealing...
As a long time Swatch fan I will get one, or two maybe, but only at MRSP. Therein lies the problem for me, I haven’t got a Swatch shop anywhere near me, so with online purchase a non starter, I am reduced to buying from a reseller (Read scalper) on the bay. So until the crazy 2x MRSP prices on there rationalise I won’t be buying one. Having owned two Sistem 51 watches for ten years with no issues the unserviceability doesn’t bother me unduly.
G'evening my friend ☕☕ 🤠 . I'm still in line like that a couple times here in the states. Once for concert tickets and another time for a free adoption at the local animal shelter 😋😋 . I love the look of the Pacific Ocean model but I think I'll hold off for a while and see if skxmods comes up with a nice 316L Sapphire sandwich case that you can drop the dial movement and straps onto. If possible I would also upgrade the plastic Buckle to a nice stainless one. On the flip side of that coin it will also be interesting to see what Pagani comes up with and maybe they'll save the day again with their own version of the 50 fathoms x swatch 🤔 .
Just like the moonswatch, you are paying for the collab, and the design looks. That's mainly it. I actually really like the white one. If you want great materials, movement, strap, etc. You are going to be disappointed. As long as you are at peace with the first 2, you will enjoy these. I have a moonswatch, installed a screen protector on it, and I have enjoyed it.
All of those people willing to wait all night and half of the day to pay £400 for a plastic watch is merely proof of the old adage, there's one born every minute.....................................................
put it in a steel case with sapphire on the front and use an nh35 or pt500 and finish it to san martin standards, add a nice bracelet and the price would be justified - that says everything one has to know about this happy meal toy
I'm soo sick of the term it's a "fun" watch. It's so over used it's not even funny and yeah like the one's who buy a Swatch Fifty fathoms for 400$. Will go make them drop 15k on a real Blancpain fifty fathoms. It's unrealistic the gap is way too big. This hobby is getting delusional. The only one's who will make $ is Swatch. Personally I think these Swatch copies need to stop
I guess it is all about publicity. Moonswatch boosted $7K Omega Speedmaster sales, so Swatch Group applying the same formula here. I think they will be doing it until it stops working and then they will need to do something else 🤔🙂 Thank you for watching! 🙂👍
@@ShinyThings Yes I understand what you're saying but when the moonswatch came out. You could have gotten a hesalite Moonwatch for less than 6k. The Blancpain fifty is more than double the price . It just seems like a real stretch to make a difference for Blancpain sales.
Smart move from Swatch. After a decade, some service is needed for a mechanical watch. We have to reduce plastic usage and this doesn't do it in any way. The watch looks nice, but not more than that, but for the price, there is so much beter to choose.... Enjoy.
Confusing watch concept. Sapphire caseback and softer top crystal? Furthermore, Disposable approach to any product released in 2023 is simply inexcusable. Not for me.
Great review. I want the same models. The quality of the Blancpain x Swatch Fifty Fathoms is much better than the MoonSwatch, it's automatic and it's water resistant. More expensive yes, but worth it in my opinion.
How can they consider this to be environmental and disposable at the same time? This is the problem with modern society, wasteful/disposable marketing scheme. $400 what a ripoff.

Mineral crystal on top, and sapphire crystal on the underside - these things are even more stupid than I gave them credit for.
It is saphire because this way ,the nato doesn't scratch the Cristal of the back .

I think the lug width is not 22mm, but it's 21.5mm as with the original 42mm Fifty Fathoms. Won't make a big difference though in real live. :)
