Totally agree with you, Tony. I have been collecting a few Swatch watches recently and one of them is a light blue moon watch, which I like its color. Swatch watches are extremely comfortable to wear and even with a childish look and feel, which make it more fun to wear for me.

As usual you made very good points. Nico had said he liked the watch but not the price of the SWATCH collaborations. I had a friend in college and he became an engineer. He started with a really high paying job building Nuclear power plants. One of the rules was that you could not take anything of value to work in case of an accident. He religiously wore a swatch, which he loved , for at least 7 years. No one could argue that it wasn't tremendous value for the money. Its funny he was ,making a lot of money and didn't care what people thought and like a lot of professions (Doctors, Nurses, Police and Correctional Officers, etc) its the perfect tool for the situation. A Watch can be a tool and also be a companion - it's a very individual thing. Im working on a question for next week - 'worst watch decisions' but I promise I won't ask anything about that night in Mexico (LOL)

Dude, I couldn’t agree more. I really never understood why everyone gets so uptight with these swatch collabs. This is what swatch has always done. They make plastic, colourful watches with different themes. The only difference is that now their collaborations are with swatch group companies. To be honest I’m surprised they didn’t think of it sooner and I hope they keep doing it with other swatch group brands. I’ve had a bunch of swatches and a still have a working swatch irony that’s over 20 years old. I haven’t got the moonswatch or the scuba fifty fathoms, but only because I have way too many watches. But I’m sure that I’ll pick one up sooner or later.
Great channel dude. Love your perspective on these topics.

Great thoughts and passion Tony. I completely agree.
Just like you, I own both the MoonSwatch and Swifty Fathoms. I also own several Rolex and JLCs. I believe the cheap and luxury watches can exist in a collection together.
At first, like all other watch snobs I didn't agree or like the idea of these plastic recreations. But this was a sentiment based on social media negative press. Mostly from haters who have not had hands on with the watch. However, now having been able to buy them from my local Swatch boutique I enjoy them as a fun watch and I get it. It's a different feeling when I'm wearing my luxury watches. My Rolexes for example are too serious and people feel intimidated by the brand to an extent of awkward reverse snobbery. I would even say I feel an air of jealousy and animosity, which doesn't make the Rolex feel fun to wear. I still love Rolex. I grew up with the brand and aspired to own one throughout my childhood. My family and relatives wore the brand and I always worked hard to afford them as an adult. But as a genuine watch enthusiast I think you have to be prepared to buy what you like and wear what you buy with a passion. I can equally enjoy wearing a $15k Rolex as much as a $400 Swatch. I'm really fed up with the snobbery of new collectors who bring in their hatred toxic opinions. It has destroyed the once fun collecting hobby. In my 20 years of watch collecting I've collected hundreds of watches and met a lot of people in the hobby. Snobs and elitists but I can say honestly that the MoonSwatch has been the watch which has brought the most fun and an international community together. I've met new and experienced enthusiastic collectors from all over the world. It is so refreshing to see and meet new watch collectors. Even the flippers are an interesting breed. I was at the launch of both the MoonSwatch & FF and I think nothing on an international level felt more exciting except when my home city hosted the Olympic games. Truly.
Last month I attended a vintage watch meetup group. I found they were a bunch of snooty old farts that hate the Swatch collabs. Stuck in their old ways. Digging through vintage trash watches that costs thousands to restore and 6 months for watchmakers to repair. And here they were whinging about a $400 watch. Bearing in mind half these guys will be dead when their vintage pieces complete a full service. Talk about fast fashion!
Yes, it is a disposable mass produced item. But most things are. Just look at your designer sneakers or your toothbrush. They all end up in landfill too. Life's too short. Wear and enjoy what you like before you become landfill yourself

@@mettagirl1 Cheers! Also forgot to mention the buying experience with these Swatches. Although frustrating that they make you queue in line for their Instagram feed, even though they know you'll miss out. Once you get to speak with them I have found the Swatch staff are friendly and helpful. I dress like Tony on most occasions, baseball cap and tee. I don't feel out of place in the Swatch boutique and they're happy to chat. Whereas most other luxury watch boutiques you find them dressed like missionaries sent from God. Suit, tie and and a pretentious attitude as if they forgot to remove the coat hanger from their suit when they got dressed to come in for work.

I bought mine in Dallas. I had gotten up early to see all the hype and any potential chaos. I had no intentions of buying one. When I got there, I realized I was one of the first 50 so I said “why not?” Why not be part of the experience. When you are a watch enthusiast/collector, why would I get a conservative color like blue or white? Swatch is about fun and colors. So I picked the green Indian Ocean. Are the watches overpriced? Yes, however it’s a better watch than the moonswatch.

The best quality Swatch was the Irony Body & Soul. Cast stainless steel case and bracelet with a de-specced ETA movement. Mine lasted almost 30 years without a service. It was also sealed, but I think there were ways for a watchmaker to repair it. £165 I think it was when it was last available. Of course, with the Blancpain X Swatch you are paying for the name and the looks only. If £340 was not much money for me, I would probably get one or two.

I’ve been on the waitlist for 2 1/2 years and I hear the rumors that Rolex will discontinue the model due to the difficulty of making the bezel. Any thoughts?

    Worst watch decisions ….
Your recent advice (which was awesome) on Shinola and the really critical Swatch swatch reviews made me think about watches you buy that bring about collectors regret. The first category is any regrets on a watch you let go? Amy regrets on a watch you could of bought but choose not to? For the watch ball- Is there any watch brand that gives you the icks - just doesn’t speak to you and have no interest.?
