James is a poet. His lyrics are so deep. He has the way of writing lyrics that are very very personal to him yet vague enough for the listener to interpret to their own life and experiences. There are 3 unforgiven songs. This is the first one.
Great reaction, i love finding new people discovering metallica for the first time. As mentioned this is part of a trilogy, and it deals with James's struggle to deal with his parents and his upbrining in a very strict household. I cant forgive them, i cant forgive you, i cant forgive myself are the themes of the three songs. The third one coming after years of therapy and a lot of personal trauma that have helped James let go of some of that resentment. Several songs off this album are about James and his relationship with his mother in particularly. Specifically, "the god that failed", which is about his mother refusing medical treatment and dying of cancel due to her beliefs as a Christian Scientist that god would save her. Most of the band's lyrics prior to the black album were about society - war, death, drugs, etc., but the Black Album started to get real personal. James is a great lyricist, very highly underrated. And has only gotten better with age.
Thanks for taking the time to share this. I can definitely relate to that resentment part ,so i must check out the other two songs as well This first one is truly amazing.
You've really gone down a rabbit hole. There are so many good songs by Metallica. For me the very best: Fade to Black (the album version) with the theme of suicide, but of course Master of Puppets, sensational both musically and lyrically (drug addiction). Or One, which tells the story of “Johnny Got His Gun” (the original video also uses many scenes from the movie)
Hi Saeed! Im visiting from your Taylor Swift playlist. I grew up with Metallica, and James Hetfield is my FAVORITE voice in rock! The Hetfield "god" sound! But what I love equally about his voice is his lyrics! This song is the best balance of amazing story telling and hard core rock. I feel this one in my whole body and have to listen to it as loud as i can!
@@steves.6519 Came here to say this. He started with Unforgiven, so he might as well listen to 2 and 3 next! Always up for watching a new Metallica fan!
A great one to start with 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 When you get to Enter Sandman, check out the one from Moscow 1991 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Let's just say there were a couple of people at the concert 😂😂😂 "One" is another awesome song from then. It gets you in the feels
@@SaeedReacts. No HP Lovecraft wrote the short story call of Cthulhu Metallica wrote the song based on that story.. Also they wrote the thing that should not be and dream no more based on Lovecraft stories.
Good one Saeed. Would really like to see what you think of "Indestructible" by Disturbed. Fantastic energy and the lyrics would definitely give you something to talk about.
A great song to start with Metallica. I suggest you also check out Unforgiven 2 and Unforgiven 3 to complete the trilogy so that you can compare all 3 songs. Personally 3 is my favourite. My 3 favourite bands are Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Cold Chisel. All 3 are great bands but they all have discographies filled with bangers.

It's amazing how much is said in just two verses in this song!.
100%
My preference is Unforgiven, Unforgiven III, Unforgiven II

James/Metallica is on top on lyrics writing while putting you in the mood instrumental!
Also! 99% of the lyrics is from personal experience!
Excellent choice for the introduction to Metallica.

I will add that one too my list. Thanks!
Have you ever tried Helloween? You might want to try "We Got The Right".
I don't think so. Thanks for the recommendation!
if you like Hard Rock/Metal with good lyrics ... check out Avenged Sevenfold
Thanks for the recommendation! Not familiar with them yet.
React to "One". Official video please. Great song better video. It'll blow your skirt.
Thanks for that recommendation! Will add it to my list.
The official video ruins the song. React to a live version. Plenty to choose from.

Oh this is a trilogy? Thanks for letting me know!
they played Moscow in 1991, in front of 1.6 Million people.! Amazing video..highly recomend.
1.6million? Wow! Need to see that.
@@SaeedReacts. Enter Sandman is the one I watched from that Moscow show
@@SaeedReacts. watch creeping Death from that show just Amazing
They played in front of about 400,000 people. 1.6 million showed up during the duration of the festival
James doesnt get enough credit for his lyrics. My friend of misery is a great track. Fixxxer and outlaw torn as well.. And Astronomy.
