It’s genuinely awesome to get to show new people Metallica because they’ve evolved in a million different awesome ways. Kill em all is a raw barely produced or mixed in any sort of way album that stands alone at the pinnacle of shred focused thrash, ride the lightning is my personal favourite as the band tightened up and learned how to write songs in a million new ways like fade to black or call of Kthulu or even the rhythm heavy grooves of creeping death, it was so raw and also so boundary pushing in a million different ways, then you get to Master which is probably THE thrash metal album of all time. Everyone is so tight. Maybe the singing hasn’t really evolved yet but the groove on songs like Master, Battery and disposable heroes are undeniable. Coupled with the ballad that is Saniterium (doesn’t beat fade to black for me but that’s a personal choice) and then the INSANE instrumental that is Orion like holy shit it is insane that that album is only 8 songs because it managed to pack everything into the tightest track list metal has seen. And justice is rough to evaluate because I LOVE Jason Newstead as a bassist he helped write battery one of the grooviest heaviest Metallica albums tunes ever but aside from that and One the album felt technically very cool but also like there was a piece missing and like something was fundamentally different. Then you get to the black album which as a metal head is hard to hate and also hard to love, because yeah in a lot of ways Metallica “sold out” but in a million other ways they also became the best metal band that ever existed. The black album made the average person realize that metal music could be instrumental, melodic, gorgeous and heavy as hell in a way that had never been done before. Anyways to sum it all up Metallica is a band that has really done it all, especially in those first 5 albums it feels almost unfair in the ways that they made music. They made raw shred filled masterpieces like no remorse or whiplash, evolved into for whom the bell tolls and fade to black, creeping death, tightened things up into battery and master, recovered from heart breaking losses with one, blacked and harvester and rocked the whole world like never before with sandman, nothing else matters and unforgiven, like holy hell what a band nobody can take that legacy from them. They blame the producer for the base being tuned down on And justice for all, but Newstead was also basically bullied by the other members when he played with them
dave's firing happened so fast. so basically the first lineup ever in metallica was: james on rhytm guitar and vocals, lars on drums, dave on lead guitar and ron mcgovney on bass. so dave had problems with alcohol back then and when he was drunk, he accidentally poured beer over ron's bass and it broke down(it was electric bass so probably the pickups were damaged by the beer). In dave's interview he said that he was sleeping until lars came and woke him up and said "you're out of the band" james and lars didn't care what dave was thinking they told him to pack up his gear and leave. so the original bass player ron eventually left too but not just about what happened with dave pouring beer over his bass. i have heard that when metallica got drunk (james, lars and dave) only member that wasn't drunk was ron and he reportedly saved the drunk guys in the middle of the road. eventually ron got bored to metallica's activities and left. so dave was kicked and ron left. Then metallica needed new bass player(so when ron left dave was still on the band, he got kicked out afterwards), so metallica was in a Whisky a Go Go club in los angeles and there were a band called trauma(cliff burton was on this band and later agreed to join metallica). Metallica's founding members, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, were in attendance and were immediately impressed by Burton's talent. They both looked at each other and agreed that they needed to recruit him into Metallica(burton's conditions for his joining was that the band moved from los angeles to san francisco). And only thing metallica needed after daves firing, was a lead guitarist. On April 1, 1983, Metallica reached out to Kirk Hammett, inviting him to audition for the band(Kirk was a former and one of the founding members of a band called exodus). so it begins, they release their first album kill em all in 1983. the next year 1984 they released ride the lightning(BTW it was recorded in denmark where lars is from). in 1986 they release master of puppets which was cliff burton's last album where he played(he died in 1986 during Damage, Inc. tour in sweden, he died because of a bus accident). after burton's death it was unknown will the band continue. They believed that cliff would've wanted them to continue, so they continued. Quickly they began to seek a new bass player. later they found a guy who was a huge fan of metallica and his name is jason newsted. then began a new era of metallica, they released and justice for all, black album(metallica's self titled album), load and reload (and some albums are covers where jason is. like garage days re-visited). and in 2001 jason left the band, main reasons was his own health, he had side projects like a band called echobrain and he felt sidelined in the creative process. the good part of metallica died when they realesed load and reload. so in 2003 they began to record their st. anger album and needed a new bass player(again). so they began to audition different people from different badns and after the auditon they decided to pick robert trujillo as their new bass player(he was one of the audition people). the biggest reason why they picked robert was that he wasn't "struggling" with any of the metallica songs that they played in the audition, and they admired that he played with fingers like cliff did(jason played with pick). and yeah that's basically everything from metallica's past, there is nothing interesting when they started to make death magnetic, hardwired and 72 seasons.
Ask your wife that Metallica never fully recovered from Cliff's death as depicted in some kind of monster. Then ask your wife if you can do a tribute video of Cliff Burton to show her how important he was as a band member and not just a bassist

She just said one of my favorite solos was stereotypical. Still getting my like but that was the most awful comment to such a beautiful solo in fade to black. That junk starts at 1:53 left of the song. Yes that’s how much I love that solo
18:08 I heard from somewhere it might also be related to one of the first places they would play that was either called battery or the street it was on, don't quote me on it tho
She earned the shirt! Damn this video really makes me want to listen to The Unforgiven
Love the shirt…grew up with Metallica!
Best shirt ever!
I meant yers bro.
There are other uses for the word, "battery". Such as a battery of tests, or, in a military context, to "release batteries".
LOL! "Is it Thunderstruck?" Love it. Love checking out 'Berta based channel's. Cheers.
Cheers brother 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nice vid🎉
I recently got into Metallica too due to Cliff, I've been learning bass. To my surprise that For Whom the Bell Tolls intro is lead by the bass😅. I think she would be surprised as well 😅
Calling your own wife a normie is funny as fuck 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Speaking of classical Spanish guitar 'feel', you should check out current Metallica member/Bass player Robert Trujillo... he plays that style as well on acoustic guitar.
Bro is living the life ❤
The song battery could also be interpreted as referencing an artillery battery
The T-shirt rocks.. ❤ for the "Battle of Alberta". RIP 💔Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau (services are today 9/9/24 in Pennsylvania).
Ride the Lightning McQueen......Ka-CHOW
Let's get 5000 likes to get Varvis' top 100 songs 😂
Whiplash intro sounds like Kiss Love Gun
Shreddies are great, I agree Evelyn!
I nearly turned it off when she said Thunderstruck 😮😂
I’M SORRY
If you ever have the luck to go watch them live, do it. On a stage they're very different--lot of interaction with the crowd, I've been 5 times between 1985 & summer 2023, I was never disappointed & I saw them at every stage, with almost every member in their history (except Mustaine, but I 've been lucky to watch Cliff the year before he passed away).
What the hell, why is everybody's comments so mean & disrespectful. Nobody forced you people to watch it, if you didn't like the video then why the hell did you watch the whole thing...Why do people have to hate on others, they did nothing to you guys ??
Just Say'in !!!
Wearing a bands t-shirt without knowing even one song is blasphemy, a big NO NO!
I have to ask: did you name your dog Freya because of the Sword song? If so, that is badass haha.
Love your videos
James amp was stolen too, it was a gift from his late mom.😢
Great video👍🏻🤘🏻😎, whiplash is 100% a kick ass song🤘🏻
I love metal, and Metallica was one of the first metal bands I got into (Dio, Rainbow, and Black Sabbath were the others). I remember falling in love with the genre after hearing Fade to Black when I was a depressed high schooler.
Battery is also a reference to Battery street in San Francisco where Metallica rented a house together
No. The Metallica “Mansion” was on 3132 Carlson Boulevard.
@@danielrosenqvist5887 You’re right! I had to read up on this. The Old Waldorf, which was a club Metallica used to play a lot, was on 444 Battery Street.
If she wants to know the stigma of Metallica and Dave watched the remastered megadeth behind the music.
Man great idea thanks!
Cannot stand when reactors cut up the songs and make it sound like a puzzle missing half the pieces!! Ugggghh!! Smh
@@emilycassi1495 yeah I get it. I put the unedited version with the full songs on the patreon which you can go watch there for freeee 👍👍
Jumpcuts I cannot watch. Ended watching at 5:47. I tried but no.
I think you're not letting her listen to the songs so much. Don't get me wrong. You're so sweet and I wanna be your friend, but sometimes she seems like "Oh. Again? Let me listen to the song". But she loves you too much to get annoyed LOL
I noticed most people new to metal enjoy metallica more than other bands... That says quite much about their songwriting
25:00 i mean...you HAVE to introduce her to Nightwish afrer this if you haven't already
Bro really thought we wouldn’t notice the lack of “Load” and “ReLoad” songs on it. Nice try, she probably would like those more
Bro I said we would do those in the next Metallica vid lol
It’s also about a rough street called battery in the bay area
Hey at least being mistaken for AC/DC is a massive compliment. Very few bands are on Metallica's level but AC/DC is up there with them.
Lmfaoooooo this videos great
still want Megadeth Part 2 🥺
also is your favorite song off of AJFA One? Personally I think the songs great but prolly Dyer's Eve or Harvester Of Sorrow is my favorite
youre only allowed to give fade to black a high 6 if it is 6.66
Other great Job. Big like 👍
Battery is really more about the Metallica family of fans. I believe it takes its name from Battery Street where the boys lived for while in the early days.
"now, name three songs 💀💀💀💀💀💀"
