It killed me and saved me. I went down a really rough road. I was a lead guitarist for a couple of bands that almost broke it big. Then everything crashed down. I lost all my gear and gave up on life. Metallica has always helped me. I died twice. I shouldn’t be here. Great reaction! Subbed 🤘
The song was inspired by having their gear stolen when they were a struggling band. James Hetfield the Rhythm guitarist and singer mom passed away when he was 16b and she bought him an amp and it was also stolen. This is about the crushing feelings he was going through.. The song is about suicide and the song has helped a lot of people get through really bad times and saved alot of lives.
That guitar Kirk is playing belonged originally to Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), and later to Gary Moore. Its called "Greeny" and has a lot of history :) That crazy Les Paul has more history than me :PP
Love her analysis of this! I really am impressed by her analyzing of their music! It does wonders for me as a musician, as well as a vocal coach myself! I will keep watching her videos, ad listening to her analysis of the vocals in each song! Great job, Jennifer! You are amazing! Keep up the good work! ❤❤
You're very welcome, Jennifer! I will keep watching your videos, and listening to your analysis of each song! You have inspired me to keep doing my vocal coaching as well, and I will keep supporting you as well! You are a beautiful lady, and I love your accent! Keep up the good work ❤❤
I cam across you not so long ago when you broke down the disturbed performance. I love how you perfectly explain things in a way that a layman like me can understand, and the you go and review my favourite band of all time! Love it
The 1st time James used the acoustic guitar on the stand and his ESP electric was back in the Black Album tour in 91/92/93 for the song The Unforgiven. A live version of that from the Mexico concert of the Live Sh*t Binge and Purge box is worth a watch, that one is from 93
Very interesting breakdown, Jen. I've only heard three Metallica songs, two live (including this one) and one in the studio. I've admired all three. Maybe I need to start another musical journey. (So FWIW: "Enter Sandman" live in Moscow and covered by The Warning (two versions); "Nothing Else Maters" two live sessions, one on their own and one with Miley Cyrus, plus the VoicePlay cover; and now this live performance. Oh ... and The Warning covering "Atlas Rise" a couple times, so make that four Metallica songs.)
Hi just wanted to tell you how I love your video analysis and since you liked Skid Row I would recommend you check out Steelheart - I'll Never Let You Go Official Video, Steelheart - She's Gone Official Video, Diamond Head - The Coffin Train Official Video and Shania Twain - From this Moment On Official video
James Hetfield, rhythm, guitar, vocals, and Part time cowboy Kirk, Hammett, riff lord and shredding savior Rob Trujillo bass crab Lars Ulrich, drums and Napster opponent
Metallica is the band who reinvented heavy metal yhey are a kind of head of a current ! they are very influent and many bands consider them as masters. James Hetfield has a very powerfull voice and a bit mysterious and dark .
there are a few other songs you have to check out. firstly i would say you gotta check out the seattle 89 version which is a lot more powerful. then songs like one, blackened, creeping death, the thing that should not be would be my go to‘s. especially the live versions which are far better than studio versions and you get to hear the crazy backing vocals
Please check out Neverland (live '09) by Marillion 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Amazing love song and awesome vocals and guitar 🎤🎸. You'll love it for sure ❣️ btw, the Charismatic Voice was struck by his voice.
The more aggressive parts, when he does the "twangs", that isn't what he originally did there. As far as I know, he damaged his vocals doing what he used to do.
Nothing Else Matters was released around 7 years after this song, so there's not really a connection lyrically. Plus, in this song "Nothing matters no one else" is meaning something along the lines of "There's nothing and no one that can make me feel better," whereas Nothing Else Matters is pretty much a love song. One thing you'll notice about Metallica if you keep listening to their stuff (I HIGHLY recommend you do) is James isn't an exceptional vocalist by any means, but he has the perfect voice for the music they make and the instruments act as a reinforcement to his voice. In the last verse you said "The instruments are complimenting his vocal rhythms," and that's a constant with them. But with bands like Metallica, you could even take the vocals out completely because they are so perfect, instrumentally. That's one thing bands nowadays are missing. If you take the vocals out of any popular metal song today, it would feel bare. Metallica even has multiple fully instrumental songs, all of them beautifully written
Hard to believe that Metallica was once an unknown band. The record company was only responsible for distributing the album so Metallica had to pay for studio time. They didn’t have all the $ up front and had to do shows to pay for everything. The tour got canceled their equipment stolen and stuck in England. This album and their live show finally got them signed to Atlantic although it wasn’t till their 4th album did the get 1 song on MTV or radio (except some after midnight metal hour). I only learned of Metallica from cassette trading (bootlegging) a mix tape that had Am I Evil from their 1st album.
The singer blew his voice out a few years back. Highly recommend looking at stuff from the early to mid 90s to hear him at full power. Totally different.
I highly recommend you react to Manowar's live performance of Battle Hymn in 2005 in Germany. Eric Adam's vocals are incredible and that performance has 2 guest drummers and 2 guitarists and also a whole orchestra
thats how politics works, one party wins and the other loses, 1 party systems will never work and only aim to please select groups, the country will decide who they wont by majority rules
Not a fan on how they play it these days. They play it way different then how it was . Different emotions and intensity. Kirk Hammet not bothered playing the solo's how they were originally intended to be is a big turn-off. James constantly yeahing . Nah. Reactors should better use the original version to get the full emotions of this song.
People must have much less sensitive judgement of rhythm than I do because I can't listen to Lars play drums live anymore, there's at least half a dozen moments in this one song where he's out of time. He's the drummer ffs. James still sounds great though.
Meh. This is old Metallica. If you want to see Metallica at their finest live any thing from Seattle 89 will do. JMO this song is epic, not bashing them. Just saying James is domesticated now, he used to be a much different beast.
Just saying, this song saved my life and the life of other millions of people
I’m glad you’re still here! Metallica has saved me many times.
🧡🧡
@@JenniferGlatzhofer You may dicover Dream Theater!!! It may interest you 😁
Same.

This is a rabbit hole worth exploring. They are SO talented. And yes, you will find future song titles in their lyrics.
The song was inspired by having their gear stolen when they were a struggling band. James Hetfield the Rhythm guitarist and singer mom passed away when he was 16b and she bought him an amp and it was also stolen. This is about the crushing feelings he was going through.. “The way the instruments are complimenting his vocal rhythms”
That’s fuckin’ Metallica, baby.
There is not a song on earth that has seen a person pass through their darkest moments more than this one.
You'd enjoy anything from their S&M performance. They teamed up with the San Francisco Symphony
Twice back in 99 with the late great Michael Kamen and in 2019 to celebrate the 20th with Michael Thomas conducting the orchestra
Both are epic
I know you gotta pause for copyright nonsense, but I'm so impressed by your ability to pause at the worst possible moments haha
But, knowing how Lars feels about copyrights the more pauses the better :)
and not only that, pause every 5 freakin seconds
She's a terrible reactor!!
That guitar Kirk is playing belonged originally to Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), and later to Gary Moore. Its called "Greeny" and has a lot of history :) That crazy Les Paul has more history than me :PP
That's awesome
this song saved many lives. Thank you Mighty Metallica, James never gets the credit he should for his lyrics.
Please do the studio version. Compare the evolution. These guys are Genius. 🤘🏻🇵🇹
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
More Metallica, please, with live performances. No Leaf Clover with the symphony comes to mind.
Any song with the Symphony would be a great reaction to see, especially the first S&M album 🤘
Kirk is playing a $2 million guitar there.
It's a remake dummy!
Her face at 17:58 when Lars pulls the trigger on the double-bass 😂😂😂
my favourite song in any genre.... still giving me chills since 1991!

I saw them in '97, Absolutely fantastic in person! And the album, that is live with the San Francisco orchestra, S&M oh my gosh listen to that!

I would love to watch your reaction to the album version too. Greetings from Hungary!
I love this song
I hope you enjoy and you have fun with your voice bye
He wrote this song over 40 years ago
And has prob played it live over 1000 times
And he typically sings it different every time
1232, most recently played august 14, 2024
Best live band I have ever seen by far.
Kirk with his 1.8 million dollar Gibson Les Paul
Great reaction, best Old school Fade To Black was from Metal Hammer 85 with Cliff Burton, Lars was doing diff drum patterns on the outro
That increase in intensity is from Lars doing a double bass kick rhythm. A staple in heavy metal, and especially speed metal.
Metallica fans are very particular to reaction vids. I'm one of them lol. You did great!
That's wonderful! Pls stay in touch!
I was at that show….Metallica set a couple of records for the arena that night. Excellent performance

just fyi, it is very rare to get a copyright flag on a metallica video.
James Hetfield, rhythm, guitar, vocals, and Part time cowboy
Kirk, Hammett, riff lord and shredding savior
Rob Trujillo bass crab
Lars Ulrich, drums and Napster opponent
"Bass crab" is the perfect description for big Rob 😂😂😂
Metallica is the band who reinvented heavy metal yhey are a kind of head of a current ! they are very influent and many bands consider them as masters. James Hetfield has a very powerfull voice and a bit mysterious and dark .
What a awesome amazing number to react to Metallica 4 ever 🤟🏻

Hey Jennifer , please analyze Niken Salindry with the song Lamunan feat Kembar music , ❤
That Southern California twang.... 😆
To reaction from them live in Seattle 1989. Best James Hetfield ever
Metsllica is just the best live.
The more aggressive parts, when he does the "twangs", that isn't what he originally did there. As far as I know, he damaged his vocals doing what he used to do.

GOAT
Listen to the original. Don't know why Kirk doesn't do the exact same final solo which I love. Dammit!
Someone made a reactor do the live version, and now they all try to do the same live version instead of the real version with Cliff. Bummer.
Please creepin death - live moscow
Please try reacting Rimar - your love (dimash cover) 🙏 🙏
Thanks Jen 😊

Third reaction video Im watching and the live version is crap compared to the original ffs

James still sounds great though.
You absolutely stop too much. Replaying the same thing to stop at the same place and add another thought. Too much for me, respectively
Meh. This is old Metallica. If you want to see Metallica at their finest live any thing from Seattle 89 will do. JMO this song is epic, not bashing them. Just saying James is domesticated now, he used to be a much different beast.
do not react to this again pls
