Love your comment about the music enveloping you. Like 5million others who saw that tour, and I was lucky enough to see them on the night they recorded this, we were totally cuccooned in the sound. They had a complete surround sound system of the highest quality and along with an incredible light and visual show produced probably the best live performance ever. Certainly the best show I have ever seen in my 75 years. Been a fan of Floyd since I was 17 and still am. Their music is timeless.

Masterpiece! I was first introduced to the Moody Blues and this song in 1968 and immediately fell in love. Fast forward to 1976, and I'm finally watching them in concert for the first time! What a thrill that was! The audio version has the "Late Lament" poem at the end of it, which really completes this song. Thanks for yet another great reaction and song choice, Saeed! Love all the trips down memory lane you always bring me. ✌💙✌

Great reaction, as always! Dan Fogelberg is one of my favourite artists, he is a great songwriter! Another great song of his that you could react to is "River of souls", a very spirritual song!

It's a great song, but don't hang your hat on its historical accuracy. Montezuma wasn't on the shore waiting for Cortes, he was well inland in his lake city of Tenochtitlan (modern day Mexico City). He constantly sent emissaries to try and dissuade Cortes from progressing further; it didn't work. "Hate was just a legend, and war was never known" is total bullshit. The Aztecs under Montezuma were brutal and feared by neighboring tribes. Thousands of these tribes people joined Cortes as he marched on Tenochtitlan because they wanted to see Montezuma brought down. Amongst other things, he was constantly plundering their villages for people who could be used for sacrifices to the gods. I don't condone Cortes or the huge impact he had on the Aztecs and Mexico in general, but the story ain't like Neil presents it.

The Boxer is one of my favourites from S&G. Mumford & Sons did an interesting cover...took me a while to warm to it but it's well done. But the combined voices of S&G are one of the finest things this world has ever heard. The writing is incredible and their sound iconic.

You're quite right my friend. "Hate was just a legend and war was never known" is a wee bit of a stretch, to say the least! The Aztec Empire wasn't achieved by handing out lollipops and flowers. They were as brutal as the worst of them in their many wars of conquest. The majority of people that the Aztecs sacrificed were prisoners of war. 'And the ancient aliens helped them build up with their bare hands, What we still can't do today' would be just as accurate as that line. I still like Neil Young though!

Another very different song from them I Love the NIght. again. great song.

The next song, If memory serves correctly, is Divine Wind. A song written for the Ayatollah Khomeni. He took over Iran and held many Americans hostage. That did NOT sit well with BOC.

The sweetest sound

BOC is a really good band. Tons of fantastic songs. Very original and mostly unique.

I think part of Neil’s title as the Godfather of Grunge is his dedication to overdrive even when playing really pretty guitar parts. This song is an excellent example; he gets so much dynamic out of the fuzz, and the higher the fuzz the more evocative the impact.

I've seen these guys several times and always great. Saw Justin Hayward at a small theater in my area two years ago. Still great and did a great version sans orchestra. Had a young woman on keys and flute and acoustic guitar great Mike Dawes in his band. Justin is an amazing guitarist too. Legends.

Another dreamy piece is "Indian Summer", several bands did it. Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller I believe, and others.

For context, this song, from the MB's ground-breaking orchestral rock concept album Days of Future Passed, was released in the magical year of 1967; the same year the Beatles' Sergeant Pepper album had earlier exploded on to an unsuspecting world, and Procol Harum's masterwork A Whiter Shade of Pale first enchanted us with its brooding atmosphere and surrealistic imagery. Dubbed the Summer of Love, it was the year the flower children/hippies came into their own. Happily following Scott McKenzie's instructions: "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair", they gravitated to California and other centres and trans-world trekking routes of what rapidly became a global counter-culture, an informal alternative worldwide community vaguely dedicated to bringing peace and love to the world, with a generous serve of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll on the side. I turned 15 that year; down in Cornwall for the summer we danced under the moon and stars to Procol Harum as the sea sucked and sighed, in and out, and the waves crashed on the rocky shore below. <3
