The best tip i can give a beginner is to always bring a portal on your adventures. Place it somewhere safe before exploring an area, and break it down to take it with you when you move on. Get back at night, get your rested bonus, clear inventory, fix gear, go back for that thing you forgot, change ancient power, stock up on food and potions, get back easy if you die etc. Will save you a ton of unforseen trouble

These are things i noticed that can help out a lot.
for beehives, make a workbench then destroy all the building pieces around it. The game breaks it for you and you get free wood.
When sailing, bring bed and portal materials. It will save you a lot of time and headaches (remember to have an open portal at home to connect to)
Tree trolls are your friends. Learn to dodge their swings and you can use them to farm out good chunks of trees for you. Helpfull if you need lots of wood fast and if you want fine wood before getting a bronze axe.
copper deposits are mostly underground. When you find one, dig deep and around it. When you hit ground with your pickaxe, you clear all the dirt above it as well.

Another small tip relevant to the fires.
Make sure you have a chimney on your house. A hole in the ceiling with a piece of roof on top for airflow is just fine. The smoke has physics somewhat and your house can and will fill with smoke and do damage to you if you dont. Discovered this one the hard way by walking away to get a drink after lighting the fire.

I like your point on dying a lot. When I was new I worried a lot about dying because of skill drain. Now, 500 hours and several characters in, I realize that it's a soft cap for your personal progress. Die a lot to learn how to live, and those lessons uncap the peaks of the rest of your skills.

A little correction about taming animals - if you go away, the taming process slows, almost stops. You need to be in a certain radius around the animals for them to tame fast enough, but they must not get aggroed against you (or other enemies). When I tame animals, I usually stay crouched as close as possible for 30 min (one full day+night) while they are tamed. Saves food too (only need 4 food items per animal this way, sometimes even 3 if you are lucky).

    • @Areolainspecta

If you dig under the flames, what you can find in the Swamps, you can get a ton of Coal and Surtling core, because the Sturtlings will constantly fall in the water and be killed by it. ^^ I Don't know if it was already told, but it's a good idea. Another tip: When you think you've dug out a copper deposit--keep digging! Some have a large amount of copper hidden under where it seems like the node ends, and if you keep digging down you can usually find more. Spread out too, don't just dig down. This is also true of other buried minerals, like silver.

So I just started playing, killed my first troll this morning. Those mfers have gold on them! What was once caution has now turned to necessity and I am going to be the trollhunter from now on! My way of doing it was taking the antler pickaxe and trying to "stealth" mine the copper and tin. Use that to get a bronze axe to then get the finewood for the bow and upgrade that to max. Then I generally have a fully upgraded flint spear with shield and head back to the Black Forest and started a temp base. When the axe gets low, or I need more fire arrows, head back to the main base, replenish and then had back :D

i played this with 5 of my friends, we rushed everything, do the boss fights as fast as we could casuse we wanted to play space engeniers and rust as well,we finish this game in about 2 weeks cause we could't play all together everyday. But some times i asked t o the server owner ''can you put on the server so i can go and farm some stuff?'' i was the chef of the team so my duty was to always have decent food ready. But i just wanted to go sailling, the server owner asked me how i was doing, i just told him ''am in the ocean listening some music, finding new places to go'' he join me as i made a portal in a far far away place, man its amazing how beauttifull this game can be, how entertaining can it be to just chill and create stuff, we create a tree house in that huge black forest, we had a incredibly big mountain biome and plains.
A week later we kill the last boss with iron gear and silver waeppons and a lot of potions, we move to space engeniers, it was fun and awesome but the world seemed so empty.
I moved back to valheim, create a new tree house and it was a really awesome house if i can say it my self, then i made a bridge to the other tree house, one friend saw me playing and joined, the server owner was just afk seeing movies, the other guys were amazed by the tree houses they never spetc we could use the tree as a solid foundation and one of us got an amazing idea ''what if we plant some trees in order to create a perfect way to create a tree village? and we were like ''HOLY SHIT LETS DO IT!!!'' we encounter a lot of trolls, who gave us hell while crafting, we farm mats for hours, and we finally create a village the fundations of the village and our friends joined us after they hear us chatting and planning the next house, they say ''we are close to the mountain... what if we made the final bridge to meet a small fortress in the mountain?'' at the end we made like 9 house trees, many of them looks really dull and funny, the fortress is a small stone cube with 2 towers and a ''meeting chamber'' with all out best trophies. We cannot be more proud of our small village, and want to xpand and do more villages in all the Biomes, this game is trully a god damn gem.

dying is not so fun anymore when skill-levels reach 70+ XD AS it is a beginners guide: You should mentioned that the coper deposites you can see are only the tip, there is much more underneath. Thats something i didnt know a while so my first hours i wasted so much time only mining the tips of the coper deposites. I also think that the penalty for dying is wayyyyyy too harsh, especial for high levels like @WannerPanzer said. There used to be a mod on nexus that would only take your current level progress away, so once you got to a certain skill level, you would never lose that level. That seemed much more fair to me. That mod was removed after H&H was released as the dev said it no longer worked, but I never had any issues with it. I can send it to anybody who wants it.

@@thedefside yeah for all the ways that the devs are super fair, this is a bit harsh and kind of conflicts with the other “fair” mechanics like multiple tombstones and min 25 health, I think of it was lower it would actually incentivise people to do more and take more risks, adventure more and die more which would make the game even more enjoyable!

You also lose your skill stats when you die ... it kind of is a big deal if you die a lot.

Thanks so much for your comment! I worried too much about dying in my first few playthroughs and my opinion now is that you’re going to die, a lot, and even after this, your skills will still be high enough to progress to the next biome by the time you’ve beaten your current biome. But I probably should’ve still mentioned that you lose skill points when you die just for clarity!

Oh and because I want to see you grow. Your other content seems a little intimidating for new viewers who might not be as far into valheim as you are.

This is a seriously good point. I don’t really have a series of just vanilla Valheim cuz I’ve played it so much I’m kind of sick of vanilla right now 😂 I wasn’t making RUclips videos yet unfortunately. When the new Mistlands update comes out I’ll do a vanilla run through from the start!

@@JellyJamBoyGaming doesn't necessarily have to be vanilla. just model a couple 10 minute videos towards new players. Im struggling to find any really useful tips and tricks videos. They all go over the same things. I feel like you could fill that gap!

Lol, the contradiction. First make sure to rush bronze. Last tip, take your time, this game is not to be rushed.

Well, some things should be rushed to have more fun afterwards :) I usually rush the fine wood bow (before first boss/metal age). There are at least 3 legit ways how to get fine wood before getting bronze axe, but they are not exactly "beginner" things.

"Potions are OP". Not. Given how ridiculously OP most of the mobs are in this game, nothing you can get for yourself is *ever* OP enough.

    • @JellyJamBoyGaming
      @JellyJamBoyGaming  Год назад

Do you think the mobs are too hard? I think they’re perfect to be honest but that’s just my take! When I was talking about the potions my point was that they’re really really useful and you shouldn’t do a play through without them and to use them as early as possible :)
