Also worthy to mention, tamed wolf are no longer cannibals. They will eat deer meat and boar meat but NOT wolf meat in order to become happy.

Do people just run around with ONLY HP foods, or was this before the rebalance? I actually kind of like the current balance, it makes resting and having a variety of foods and meads useful. Seems like it incentivizes the planning and prep stage of any journey. I do wish the days were a little longer though. Cold debuff feelsbadman.
Things like holding left click to mine/chop etc. Makes me think back on how the devs said they changed a lot that they suspected many people wouldn't even really notice. Playing lately there's been quite a few subtle things such as that where I play as makes sense and then have to pause to consider if it was like that before. They did such a great job and thanks for helping point all these lovely details out!!

I actually like the bird, going several hundred in game days without hearing him got lonely, and it felt more lively when I heard him return after the hearth and home update
would be nice if they made a Hugin Perch that he could be sat on after the tutorial. And maybe we could feed him some of the in game seeds
@@Kysen Great idea, maybe he can occasionally leave feathers to collect.
@@richgoldendoor4240 and the feathers could be used for special arrows! Or maybe as part of a scarecrow recipe to put in farms for decoration
@@Kysen Could possibly even work as just jewelry or a dreamcatcher decoration as well. Loads of things you can do with feathers.
I love Hugin! They removed the ability to skill level up by hitting a rock with your weapon. Sad days.
That was the most useful, quick, and pleasant guide in new stuff in valheim, thank you so much! Combined with your smooth low voice that doesn't great on one's ears I'd say it's a quick subscribe.
one you did not mention (99% sure this wasn't a thing before) but showed when showing the mining on the rock: if you swing the pick axe at a spot where multiple parts would break off, you hit simultaneously. when one breaks, the next part should break in 1 hit. started over and noticed this which has made it a bit faster and efficient at mining ore veins.
also, the glowing mushrooms in the dark forest burial chambers are stamina food now, so they are now actually worth picking up

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but the new dark wood pieces are not damaged by rain. We tested this a couple times last night on my server. Normal wood walls, beams, and floors will degrade without a roof when it rains but non of our dark wood beams or half wall dividers did.
This is actually really cool thanks for sharing. I guess it sort of makes sense because the wood is treated with tar so it should be resistant to weather. Nice touch.
Then we need a darkwood floor and walls!! I really need a weather resistant outdoor design XD

I like how the way to get rid of Hugin is to use a console command and talk to him, where during a vanilla gameplay, he goes away by literally just talking to him. I think he’s a very cool addition to the gameplay. If you want him to go away, all you have to do is acknowledge his existence.
Huginn is the GOAT. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a greydwarf.

I wish they added blue (and green I suppose) sconces. Torches are nice enough for outside decor, but I'd love to have that eerie blue lighting indoors too. And trying to use torches indoors is a chore.
That, and a vertical ladder lol. Stairs take up so much room...
Turning off Huginn is nice and all, but I'd rather turn off Yggdrasil. I made a base in the Deep North and there's already not too much sunlight there (honestly it feels like it's 7AM dawn to dusk as the sun never goes too far up), but there's a goddamn branch taking away sunlight even at noon!

I found another cool thing. If you place a regular wood floor on top of a stone floor it won't degrade from rain damage. I found this out while building a mansion with my brother. The ground wasn't level Enough and we had to supplement the raise ground with stone floor tiles. When it rained on us all the floor tiles not covered by roof degraded except the ones on top of the stone floor tiles in the corner.
I wanted to catch a twostar wolf to breed, but I couldn't catch one. The wolf acted very careful, since it was Aware Wolf...
Those are tricky. +/++ wolves spawn only during the night. Anything spawned at night will try to run away and despawn during the day - even when tamed (unless they've changed it). To get +/++ wolf that does not despawn, you need to have tamed regular one prepared and breed it with tamed+/++. The cub will be tamed and will not run away. Type of cub is randomly chosen based on his parents (Wolf and Wolf++ will result in Cub or Cub++, never in Cub+). Repeat until successful. Good luck.

As always, great content mate. Im wondering if they've changed parts of the map also with this last update. I'd never really looked for the Mistlands before, but on my way to Bonesmass, I sailed past them and they were absolutely huge. Not the trees or anything, just a super large landmass. With nothing in it. Just cold and black. Spent 4 in game days sailing past it.

you can iron cookwrack without a hearth, it requires 2 firepits though
If you can't access the console using F5, open properties of the game in Steam, and type "-console" in the modifier box.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much my dude. This has been driving me nuts lol
I actually like most of the food changes, but there are a few that I just don't know what they were thinking. Why is Blood Pudding and Fish Wraps (both Tier 4 recipes and both requiring Barley Flour) only 25 min duration. They should both be 30 just like bread, lox pies and serpent stew. Kinda odd they aren't as I believe that all of those foods used to be like 40 mins before H&H. It just sucks because you can't sync your timers up for eating without using the 30 min stuff early. Hope they adjust this.
I think your timing was off on the goblins with spears or it's not the same for all mobs, because im still parrying the drauger archers and greydwarf stone throwers.
i dont know if it was patched, but you can parry ranged attacks again.

Something I found out with the only obliterate thor is fond of trophies if you give Thor trophies you will get some stuff from him I’ve very rarely got anything other than cool though second thing about the obliterate it is the more stuff you put in it the more damage it does the things around it so they make an excellent device for when those nasty creatures come knocking dream one of the events stack it full of wood or some other
Material and make your way there when the creature start attacking wait till there within range and blast a living hell out of them

huh, i can cook lox meat on a normal cooking station, only thing i need the upgraded one for is the serpent meat
You can Stack chests with an item Socket better in my opinion
You don’t need her for the steel cooking station you can put two fires under it and it still works just so you know
If you swap the B and P in bukeperries it spells “puke berries.” Made me laugh when i discovered that
The dark wood doesnt take weather damage so it gets my vote over core wood.
Get a campfire.
Build a small cage around the fire.
Adorn the cage with crystal/glass.
Looks pretty neat o7 (Don't put a cage top on it because smoke cannot escape the cage "roof".. ).

Question , did we always get a rested buff for sitting near a campfire out in the open? I always thought we needed to be under a roof/shelter. Always finding something new every day even now lol
No that's always been in the game and has been a tip featured in practically all the most well known Valheim youtube channels.
@@OnionKnightRises well it looks like from the many hundreds of hours I've watched since the game released I must have missed that one small detail. I don't recall it coming up on vet live, fire spark, kysen, nizar gg, raptor, or Eso. All of which I've watched every video since the game came out. Must have been making coffee.... Maybe not sat down next to the fire at all, in the 1050 days we spent so far on our server.
Short version... I missed something that's all, there was no reason to be so belittling about it.
Parying ranged attacks works for me so I'm guessing that was a bug.
Yeah they changed it again so that you can now parry ranged attacks again

i have used tutorialtoggle because I hate hugin. but the next morning he's back
I feel like this game is so amazing but it lacks some content. There should be more random encounters and things to explore, the world feels a little dull after a while and also more armors and items. Every time me and my friends wear the same armor and use the same weapons. Would be great if there were classes and items to reflect those classes like in Terraria.
Birch seeds and acorns are listed in the Wiki, you keep talking about them... I have cut down dozens of both and seen no seeds... How are you getting them?
They're pretty rare. Seems like only 1 in 15 oaks drop acorns

You can still parry ranged enemies. I do it all the time. Go practice with Greydwarves or Skeleton Archers.
Yeah they made it so you couldn't originally but then they changed it back
On my game I can still parry ranged and it staggers them

What is the trick to convert this $20 "expansion" to the $0 "upgrade" that it should be? I mean, it's only like 6 devs and they already sold like 4 million copies of their unfinished $20 game.... what's (4,000,000 x 20)/6? More money than they need is my guess.

I honestly wish they left the combat and food as is and just focus on adding stuff. Don't even want to play with these changes and I'm pissed that I can't play the game I bought 9 months ago. How much can you change a game and still call it the same thing?
The devs have taken this attitude of will force players to play the way we want them to. Oh they're using the bow to much, nerf. Man they keep using serpent stew, nerf. Man our players are using the harpoon in ways we didn't expect. We have to stop them. They are having fun in unapproved ways. People complaining that it made the game to easy. Then don't do it on your world. If it's not directly affecting why do you care?
