That spiral staircase using beams is a good way to burn an entire day off lmao
I was thinking the same thing
it is, I tried it and wasted so much time on it and it just looked wonky so I deleted it
I think I'll work on one to avoid goin out in the the rain lol
It only takes like 30 min once you get the hang of it
Not anymore!
Meanwhile, the Raven be in every shot: "Am I a joke to you?"
Great content btw.
Nevermore…
When mining, at 3:34, just push into the wall and don't move. Then mine twice. Then push forward into the wall and repeat. This makes it perfectly straight. The first hit slightly ramps up and the second hit brings it down. Then just continue forward.
That's what I've come to too.
If you can't level the ground to your feet then you either have too much or too little elevation. If you have it lower no matter how many times you click, raise the ground, then flatten it, if there is always a bit left over, hit it once with the pickaxe, then use flatten ground and it will always be perfectly flat, exactly at the level of your feet.
I’m surprised this isn’t common knowledge by now. This is a great tip for beginners!
@@Mad-Lad-Chad I kinda thought it was common sense, because it's an assumption I jumped on fairly quickly - and it's me who we're talking about, I suck at games - as soon as I saw that elevations too high or low aren't leveled out by the flattening tool. I always use the pickaxe and the raise tools first to even out the terrain before I level it.
The explanation on leveling ground was so helpful. Never picked up on that!
You can stack stone on top of wood floors. You just need to support it properly, that's how I build stone bridges. And you can kinda hide logs inside on the stone to help.
How do you do that? with iron beams?
Come for the content, stay for the Dad jokes - well done!! XD
When building overhangs the easiest way is to just place another floor outward, halfway over the first, then move the cursor just over the edge of the overlapping floor. It will then snap right onto the floor underneath it. :) Very useful when building over water too!
There's a far easier way to build overhangs: place a floor tile, next, place another on over the farther half of the first one, it will rest over the first one, and then point your cursor to the further half (or a bit beyond) of the second (upper) floor tile. Your 3rd floortile will snap to the outer edge of the first tile.
Also: shift-click with a hoe "smoothens" ground in the clicked spot and ignores your feet level. Nice for making those smooth paths up-/down-hill
Dad jokes are awesome. Learning about building in Valheim is an incidental bonus! Thank you. :)
Very nice tips. I love the circle building top with the Cross in the center!
Useful info delivered loud and clear and straight to the point, another helpful vid
Spiral stair case looks great. Will be looking to include that in my house.
12:50 I did not know a item would not be destroyed by decay. I kept repairing my wood floors in the rain when i was buildign my new building
With round houses you can use beehives as a round roof
Love the lattice fencing!! 💚
12:09 Huginn coming to check on your progress. You couldn't have PLANNED that any better lol.
Please keep up the valheim videos, just subbed, thanks for the help man.
Enjoyed the stream missed the next one but man I am happy I got more to watch here 😊
Love the lights look so good
Like your building tips. I tried to build circles in Valheim for a while and couldn't make it look good might try what you proposed in a Video. And for the Staircase, the Beam version is BRILLIANT never have thought of that, deffinetly gonna make those in my house. Liked the dad Jokes segment too :3, It was a surprise for sure, but a wellcome one!
At 6:12, you said to place wood flooring on the campfire inside ur base, why? It's perfectly fine without doing that. In fact, to me, it looks better to just have it on the stone flooring since it's a fire. I liked the windows using the iron gates, now will those keep the skeetos out if ur in the plains?😄
Regarding the elevated campfire-You can place stone floors on top of iron pillars I believe. Something I saw in another video.
Dig a trench all around your base to get less raids. I built a trench and I've only gotten 2 raids with bats. That's it. Not sure why but a trench helps a lot.
Great tips and tricks. I can't wait to try some of them out, especially the spiral stair cases.
Also, I wasn't going to subscribe until I heard the dad jokes 🤣. SUBSCRIBED!!
Thanks...im from thailand. Love your tips and tricks videos!
On that circle roof, I wonder if you could use a beehive for the small center piece?
I bet it would and it counts beehives also blocks rain just like a roof funny enough.
Beehives count as roofs too I made a full roof that had beehives on top
Good to know
Do you mute your game when you go inside your house or where you built beehive as a roof...?
@@ankushchaudhary9228 usually my roof is on the 3rd floor so don't hear it too much
@@xenoserum Damn, Bob the builder...
The roof is happy
Great video !! Thanks!!
1:34 - My man hitting me with that real good advice
Didn't know stone connects to trees! That's very helpful for my upcoming treehouse thanks!
Watch out for trolls...
@@JayKayX71 Always a concern haha
can you do farm design/layout? haven't found anything good in any videos :D
Nice ideas. Thanks!
AAGGGHHH that base looks so cool!
I like the little wraith/skeleton decoration hehe it’s cute
Thank you very good tips👍👍👍👍👽
learned some stuff on this video, thanks
another tip is to put the spiked walls on top of gates to stop the decay
actually, i've found a way w/ that 3rd type of stairs if you use a vertical wood pole (the ones using the core wood) use the largest one (or multple smaller ones depending on how high you want to make it) then take the smaller horizontal pole and stack them rotating one click all the way up, then starting at the bottom pole take your stairs and make sure they snap at the top as far to the edge of the horizontal pole, and rotate the stair to match the second on up, and so on and so forth till you have the spiral stair up as far as you want.
thanks for the tips.
Well done!
Love it man
THANK YOU
very cool video and very helpful
I go strait up to the wall and swing the pick three times. No guess work on the distance. First takes wall directly in front. Second right behind, and third removes the rise.
The most important kind of Valheim tips. 😊
Thanks!
1:20 I actually thought of that as well, and a friend of mine freaked out about it since you could see it through a small window
I’m convinced this game wouldn’t be as popular if you couldn’t clip objects into each other while building
The 3rd type of stairs is the only one I knew how to make...
Is it possible to construct the "compact spiral" with core wood poles for increased height?
Fires can be add in every surface just put under a ironwood and apon fire also work with forge etc
Put a half beam upward down first to snap a wall into the ground for support, if you cant snap something under try sitting first before trying to snap.
Awesome! I'm always looking for new ways to display my meat.
The building tips are amazing, but I'm subbing for more dad jokes. haha!~
a swamp key also has a decent amount of light on it if you hang it.
You can auto place a tile on a overhang by putting one at the half way then the next one will snap under that, lining up into place.
Yea. Plains pillars with a good mix of stone and reinforced iron supports allow for some immmmmmensely large structures
Came here for my daily dose of FireSpark and wasn't disappointed :P
Literally the same video lmao
Very sketchy to copy that much someone without giving credits...
@@PierreChe honestly i thought i was watching the same video again and had to double check. firesparks came out 4 days ago. pretty weird.
@@WhozZzWho I just did the exact same thing!
@@PierreChe firesparks video has ideas that smaller creators have made videos on, he didn't give them credit either, you have copyright on the video you make but not on the ideas expressed within.
Thanks for all the inspirational ideas. Love the Dad jokes, I am longer in the tooth, so Granddad, but still capable of laughing!
Haha thanks bud 🙂
I think you could use thistle for a white light
Add a railing to the inside edge of your spiral staircase, it will funnel people away from getting caught.
it would be nice if dev add premade spiral staircase to the game.
13:31 Rust mode raid :D
iF YOU build Stair on top of a roof piece they will not decay!. Good tip for builders out there
"I did a video recently with 30 window design" *Instantly suscribe*
i think u can have a fire on an iron beam, about the fire on wood thing
Hey, what is the name of the mod that allows you to fly and build without resources? i wanted to practice building but i cant find the name of this mod.
I'm new to valhiem, how are you floating while building?
You have to enable cheats, this video shows you how: ruclips.net/video/uvuE1gc6QMo/видео.html
The jokes at the end, lmao
Believe you can put Core logs on the floor and set a camp fire on it to have it in your base
This has already been patched out
@@alpha0090 Noooo! D:
It won't allow me to place mushrooms on the item stand. How did you do it?
Will the meat still smoke if you let the fire go out before placing the meat?
the smoke effect only starts if the meat is put on over a lit fire.
hi I play on series X is there dedicated servers
12:31 I use 26 degree roof for staircases outside
Mind blown...
keeping those algorithms happy...
the stairs part need an update with the Diverger stairs
A Rabbi, and a Priest walked into a bar...
...the Minister ducked.
how do you enable flymode and cheats etc.
Press F5 and type "imacheater" and hit Enter
Type "debugmode" and enter
Press Z to fly
I love building things in video games (like Fallout 4) but I really feel like the controls for Valheim are very clunky. And honestly not very well-thought-out. My hope is that they improve this..... Soon.
Anyone know where I can get a better look at the building in the thumbnail? The big one
Just place a wooden floor over the stone before you remove the stone, it will snap to the stone!
What ability does he mention at 8:21? "Do make sure you've got your ?? ability activated while building". What ability and why?
After you kill first boss Eikthyr, you can activate Eikthyr power that buffs your stamina level for five minutes at a time.
perhaps consider planting pine trees as your major structure before starting a build. plant them where you want the main posts to be and attach your structure to it. use pine trees as they have a largely bare truck going up quite high.
Until a troll comes along and smashes your tree lol. Bye by house.
@@krampusklaws2238 if you are going to avoid building because you have insufficient troll defenses, maybe consider ... i dunno, building troll defenses.
Or you can also stop abusing tree stability and reach great heights by your architect skills and not by a failure in the stability system, you know...
I already hear 3M players crying when The Iron Gate fixes tree/rock abusing...
What kind of caveman places floors directly on the ground?
I subscribed for the dad jokes
camp fire on iron beam for second floor fire place
I killed my troll near the starting area last night. He seemed to get stuck in the water. He’s killed me several times, so I put a bunch of arrows in his face. No I feel guilty. Will he respawn?
He will
Shooting trolls with the bow is generally the best way to fight them, preferably with no other mobs nearby. You should farm them to make troll armor and save up gold for the trader.
How are you flying around like that
Noob here. How do you attach trophy's to the wall like that?
How do you build without a workbench/wood?
He has a cheatmenu, he's basically in creative mode
Basically, IKEA in Valheim
Iron poles can hold stone
4:54...what killed the greyling?
An old graffiti dad joke on the wall. 🤣💀
liked for the dad jokes lol
Haha glad you like them 🙂
Using trees is soooo outdated. If you use iron poles and cover them with normal wood poles, firstly you can build as high as you want as long as you protect your structure from rain damage. And I mean, as high as you want, you can literally reach Yggdrasil this way. And secondly, you can place stone wherever you want because they still count as iron poles, so you can place a fire at any height.
Rain damage can actually destroy your structures if they're on the very edge of their stability. It doesn't damage them below 50% HP but it does lower the effective stability of decayed pieces. It's a very small decrease but it's enough if you're struggling with stability. Fortunately, any roof piece will do the job when it comes to protect your buildings. That means not only actual roofs, but also 26° and 45° poles, crosses and gables. This way you can protect your railings and walls (no alternative for floors by now)
Love the Dad jokes.
Haha thanks 😁
knew all the tips... still stayed for the dad jokes
Finicky as it is, your spiral staircase method feels *less* complicated than some of the other tutorials I've seen. I wonder though, would you need to destroy the vertical support pillar between each step if you used a 4m round wood pole instead? Seems like you should be able to just place it and snap on as needed since it's round, but haven't tried it yet.
Unfortunately there are 4 sides to those poles as I have found out when I've tried to hang stuff like sconces from them and whatnot. They look smooth, but the mesh for the object seems to still be square.
How to get this hat?
