If you're already there, you should definetly chack out Hafragilsfoss as well! It's just a few kilometers down the road on the eastern side and the view above the valley is just breathtaking. Additionally there are just very few tourist, wheras Dettifoss has become pretty crowded in recent years.
I am in Iceland now. I have watched all of you Iceland video's and they are incredibly helpful and beautiful. Today planning trip to Dettifoss and Selfoss so i am reviewing this excellent video to refresh my memory
Wonderful video!. These waterfalls were one of the best Iceland experiences I had last September. I highly recommended that anyone includis these on your trip to Iceland if possible.
Hi Mads! Very good Vlog again! Nice of you to describe the both east and west sides of this canyon that the waterfall has carved out in the amazing landscape! I agree with you Mads, that THIS is one of the most profound and memorable locations in Iceland to visit! I drove the gravel road (I think it was kind of red color the last part when you were approaching the Dettífoss waterfall from the east side! Thank you so very much for taking your time and publishing this breathtakingly beautiful overview in your great Vlog! /Best Regards, Charl
Super coverage and information is also great - Will be travelling to Iceland in Sept 2017 and your videos are helping me in defining a great itinerary to shooting these iconic landscape scenes. Hope our paths cross!
Wow! Congratulations on fantastic videos. My wife and I are a little behind but we are binge watching yours from the start. We were in Iceland this year (2018) and it’s great to see your work of places we’ve actually seen. Regards from Australia:)
Out of all the episodes, I like this one the most... your photos are just amazing and the place is really breathtaking! As an amateur nature and landscape photographer, I really appreciate your advice and practical info about how to click such photos. Although I haven't been to Iceland yet, I hope to travel there soon and explore all the places from your series :)
Yes, they do work! I am always interested to hear the stories behind such wonderful photos, and it helps me learn the tricks to do it when I can :) it also helps to get ideas how to compose a landscape photo in my mind before I click it... so thanks!
Mads, your Iceland pictures and videos are awesome, wish I can visit iceland and am able to see great landscape scenes as you did. Been to your hometown Arhus, Denmark, it is a beautiful place.
Really love all of your videos. I've watched all of them. We are going to Iceland for the first time the last couple of weeks of September 2017. Would love to hear more about your drone and what camera equipment you are using. We are taking a Mavic Pro with us. Would love to hear how you are doing your vertical panos with the drone. Judy
Hi Judy thanks a lot, I'll make a "what's in my camera bag" video soon ;) In regard to the panos I just fly the drone up, take several pictures as you would with regular panos and combine them in Photoshop :)
Love all of your Iceland videos and so far this one is my favorite waterfall, especially the east side. Luckily, the way I found you is researching my grandfather's name: "Peter Iversen". What a wonderful coincidence as I am a photographer, too.
I would say so yes, but it's rather easy to reach the west side, which is also super impressive! I don't know the road conditions to the east side during winter, but they do have a road service where you can see what roads are closed :)
thanks for the reply. i checked the roads and both roads are closed. from what i've read the west side when there's snow is not recommended because you can't tell where the edge of the canyon is which makes it to dangerous to get close enough to see much of the waterfall.
Dear Mads, thank you for this wonderful video. Really helpful indeed. As far I understood you say that for the summer (and winter) during Golden hour in better to be in the West Side but for every other case East Side is more recommended because it gives better views, especially during sunsets. Did I understand correctly? And a second question....do you believe that Road 864 up to Detifoss is possible with 2WD car and a not very experience driver in the summer? Thank you for your answers at advance.
Yeah, more or less right. It of course also differs a bit based on cloud cover. And yes, during summer most people ought to be able to get to the east side. Just drive carefully on those gravel roads :)
i love your videos...i been there twice taking good photos but unfortunately the mother nature is not my friend...its always a bad day and didnt get much sun...
Once again a brilliant, and useful, video for those of us who are hoping to visit Iceland, and your photographs are wonderful. Can you suggest the best way to find and book accommodation, Farmstays etc. to help me organize a trip in the near future?
I mean like, I LOOOOVE your images but i can't order why you are using your aperture and not your ND Filters. It's like f5 then f22 then f13...just leave it on one aperture and use you filters. But the good thing is, they are great!!! Well done

Another video well done Sir!!

Haha that's a fun story and happy coincidence :)
I think for to fly a drone, the left side you have best location and view
So the east side has better views? Just want to double check. How are the roads there I'm winter to the east side?
I would say so yes, but it's rather easy to reach the west side, which is also super impressive! I don't know the road conditions to the east side during winter, but they do have a road service where you can see what roads are closed :)

I used booking.com - just put in what you want to visit and it'll find the nearest accomodation :)
Two sites to visit before die.

hehe thanks, it's mostly because I was pretty noob while I took some of these photos ;)
