Hi. I live by a reservoir and make long exposure photos of fallen trees in the water often. I must say, as usual, your shots are completely out of this world. I love them.
You can turn “nothing” into GOLD! Awesome images! Even Gary Gough , who I view as the master of this style, would love your work here! Thanks for taking me along!
Great video - a good reminder that amazing locations and conditions are not always necessary to get gorgeous images! The colour version of the 3rd image is my favourite. I think it's because of the diminishing perspective created by the cracks and texture of the logs.
One trick I use to get everything in focus but with a blurred background is to focus stack with a shallow depth of field, that has often helped me eliminate distractions in the background
I think I like the moody collection because with the black and white photos, the texture with the clouds sort-of disappears. I like the first photo of the three the best.
Mads, thank you so much for posting this video. You hit the nail on the head for me with regard to lack of motivation in bad weather. Hopefully your inspiration will get me out shooting this weekend. I like the second photo with the complex sky the best. For me the strong diagonal is a nice feature
I like all the images. They each have their merits, which makes choosing an out and out winner more challenging. The way you've both captured and edited them is fabulous. Powerful imagery!👍👌
The first moody because of the drama and sense of scale, and the third moody because of the unique angle and effort to get the shot. And I, too, get tired of "rain and half-assed snow"! What a great line, Mads!!
Very inspirational! I think I liked the second image the most insane color version. But it's amazing how you managed to turn such bad conditions into something unique. Thanks for sharing. Grt guido
I like the mood collection better. Of the three photos I really like the vertical. In my opinion there is more "moodyness" in the overall composition because the sky is darker.
I prefer moody #3. I like the lines drawing my eye through, the symmetry and the splash of color on the tree trunks. You're right about just getting out and going, regardless of the weather.
Beautiful shots Mads! Thanks for the reminder....I've been stuck in the very rut you mention at the beginning. Seeing this video is a great motivator for me to get out and shoot....
Besides the beautiful images you created, more importantly you explained the need to push yourself to get out and find a composition. In this case you were successful, in others you may not. But trying either a style of photography (ICM, long exposure, B&W) or a subject given the ‘dull’ conditions can often be very rewarding as you’ve proven. Keep exploring and put yourself out there - that’s the Tip! Thanks,
I slipped onto my back in the Lake District, slid downhill 12 metres before hitting a rock foot first. Unscathed luckily as soft grass under my back. Still got a photo, which was a bonus, albeit it was of rainfall and the grey sky above. Yes, there's ALWAYS a photo to be had!
I just bought (probably exactly same) spikes for my shoes couple of weeks ago. Just looks like that there is no more need for those in Southern Finland this winter anymore - unless I will climb on some fallen tree too 😀
Loved this Mads and I won't surprise by saying my personal favourites were the black and white versions. I also liked the first composition as I think it showed a good sense of scale for the size of the tree
If I absolutely had to choose which I liked best, I'd have to just close my eyes and say eeni meeni meinie moe. And whichever one I landed on, I'd pick. They're all absolutely fantastic. I love black and white, but to me, the moody photos do "pop" a little more. But again, they're all superb! I'm definitely gonna head out the next dreary day! No more excuses!! LOL
Haha I just made a similar video BUT I still had snow, and still in my beginning of nature photography but inspiring to see this video 🙌🏻 Soooo amazing photos you got!!! Just stunning! Love the first and third one, can’t decide on which I like the best 😅 but absolutely the moody versions for me ✨
Hi Mads, well edited video. I like the sloshing noise of the water against the perfect still. I prefer the black and white serie. And also the first of the three. You have a great skill in previewing what you can add in the editing. Got inspired to re-sttudy your masterclass photoshop, I already did but in which I got stuck. Photoshop is not my thing. I postpone as long as I can to work with. But since with some help of a photo friend I successfull did a montage for an exhibiton of our photoclub, I am more interested and a bit more skilled. I will persevere in using Photoshop. Thanks for your inspiratieo, cheers, Bert.
Love the dead tree photo, turned out amazing, my favourite is moody #3, simply looks stunning . One of my go to spots on a bad day is a tiny cedar tree growing out of a huge rock out in the water. My wife thinks it’s stupid, but I love it! Incidentally, you seem to have new mittens, care to share a link please?
Mads, thanks for this. These are some of your very best pix in my opinion; they "rival" those amazing drone shots of woodlands in fog (and others). Had you shown the monochrome pix first, I would have thought those Brilliant (and they are). But those blue-silver ones (especially the initial one but all three) are extra-terrestrial (Out of this World); some of the best pix I have seen on YT. I have watched you for a long while but am unsure if I have ever posted to your channel. So, briefly, I shall say you are in my top-tier of YT landscape toggers. Others in that tier include Simon Baxter & Meg (Woodlands), Joe Cornish (he does not have a channel but can be found on YT in various vids), Thomas Heaton, Adam Gibbs, Jason Jones, James Popsys, Nigel Danson, Gavin Hardcastle and so on... might seem a lot but there are hundreds of landscapers on YT - I am subscribed to over 200. I hope you don't think me patronizing if I comment on your astoundingly good English. I don't know what Danish pupils learn in school or if you studied English later or if you have British relatives but your use of the English language (British version) is actually far-better than many native speakers. (You even have the slang "Wellies" for Wellingtons, for example). Anyway, it makes you easier to follow than some native Brits, who are less adept at English than you. So, thank you very much and a belated Happy and healthy 2025 to you. Cheers.
I loved all 3 photo's but I have a preference for the 3rd one due to the fantastic colours on the two tree trunks in the foreground. That one should definitely be a colour photo because of that. The other ones can also be B&W. However, the B&W ones look like a bit "niche" to me, I hope you get what I mean by that. :)
Excellent video Mads! What great shots you got from that tree in dismal conditions. Personally I prefer the 3rd one (with the trunk leading you in), in "moody" tones. And did you really say "half-assed rain" in the beginning? 😂 I'm calling sleet that from now on! Greetings from Slovenia.
Hey Mads, for me the colored pics are more beautiful than the b&w. I like them more because the clouds are looking great. I missing the clouds in the b&w version. Greetings from Germany
Question, the first picture and 3rd one were at ISO 50. The second picture was at ISO 100. Can i ask the advabtage to use ISO 50 when sony base ISO is 100? Is that for to trick the camera with the appropriate shutter speed? My favorite was the middle photo, in black and white.
Moody collection for me. Out of interest Mads what length exposure did you use for the sky. Obviously it has maintained detail but is still blurred? How exactly did you combine these two exposures? Thks, John
Anyone know how the exposure in camera is done past 30s. Is it different on different models, my A7iv will only let me do 30s before manually holding exposure open. The camera in this is counting down from more than 30s?
At 13:00 the second and the third ones. On the first one on the right side, the separate branch is an eyesore to me. It has no connection to the other branches. I like the third one the best.
Personally feel that the constant sales pitch for e books / courses etc. is getting a bit much and these would be better as a quick intro or at the end rather than constantly interrupting the flow of what I’m watching as I struggle to get back in to it once the sales pitch appears
The photos were very nice, I liked the b/w versions especially. Your videos do seem to be turning into one long advert for your various products though. It’s almost like you’re begging.
Hi. I live by a reservoir and make long exposure photos of fallen trees in the water often. I must say, as usual, your shots are completely out of this world. I love them.
Enjoyed the video and really liked both the first and last images; the moody versions do it for me rather than monochrome.
The last photo is truly magical for me. The balance, contrast... stunning work.
Love the last shot. Spectacular perspective.
I prefer the mood collection and the right (vertical) photo. But they are all amazing. Thank you for sharing.
You can turn “nothing” into GOLD! Awesome images! Even Gary Gough , who I view as the master of this style, would love your work here! Thanks for taking me along!
The first moody, the third b&w. You are a true artist, Mads. So excellent. Thank you🙏❤️
All of these photos proved to be exceptionally beautiful 😃 My favourite is either the first moody one or the third.
I like them ALLLLLL. what a mindset you possess.!!! I enjoyed every single video you posted . So cool
Hi, i like more the moody group and like you I prefer the first one....great photo like always....❤
Enjoyed your video thanks for posting 👍
Love the first, moody one. The scene did not look that promising but your skills made it amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Third image moody does it for me. Great shot.
All gorgeous but I love the moody shots the most. If I was going to hang one on my wall, it would definitely be the first moody one.
Grt guido
All great, but I preferred the first one. I usually go for black and white but the moody sky is irresistable
Hi as usual another great image. Love your videos
I prefer the moody collection and the photo on the left
I love them all. Thank you for sharing!!!
I liked the middle version most
I honestly can’t pick a favorite image,m but I definitely prefer the moody color to the monochrome for all three.
I love them both. However, I love a moody landscape pic.
Masterclass again, loved the rh photo you displayed as a moody shot. I think the light fits around the tree giving the whole photo a lift.
I love the last shot, and I like the moody ones better ! Great video !
Nature is an amazing canvas just waiting for the right moment to photograph it's beauty.👍
I like the mood collection better. Of the three photos I really like the vertical. In my opinion there is more "moodyness" in the overall composition because the sky is darker.
Well, I can't decide. 1 and 3 are generally my favorites, and I think the color edits are the way to go. The subtle colors do work quite well!
Good pictures but I really like the last set taken on the tree trunk. Good stuff.
Very amazing pictures. I have surprised what ordinary situation goes to such excellent photos.👌👏👌
It very close but I believe I like the middle shot the most
Besides the beautiful images you created, more importantly you explained the need to push yourself to get out and find a composition. In this case you were successful, in others you may not. I definitely prefer the first one, in B&W.
Moody but I couldn’t pick a favourite out of the three compositions. All magic
Ooh my... Absolutely love these moody shots!! So beautiful 🫶
Great video Love all the shots actually. So interesting seeing your thought process on creating each shot.
Brilliant work.
All three are great images, but I prefer #3 because it draws the eye from the bottom of the frame to the center, and the tint of color is well done.
I like them all especially in the moody versions but if I have to pick one I would go with #1 for the composition but #3 is the moodiest. Great video.
The first one!
Minute details, as always, are the most important factors in composition.
I prefer the moody ones. Can't really decide between the first and the third.
Third image is just awesome, love it.
Great lesson, thanks. First, moody, was my fav. Thanks! Kind regards
Thank you very much from France. And thank you for all yours videos, i love. The first picture is my favorite, not in black and white.
Hi Mads. I Like b&w and the moody ones. great captures
I prefer the 3the black and white but I like them all!
I just bought (probably exactly same) spikes for my shoes couple of weeks ago. Just looks like that there is no more need for those in Southern Finland this winter anymore - unless I will climb on some fallen tree too 😀

B&W all dad long Mads , love the simplicity in the images
Wow, so nice!
B&W definitely cleaner minimalist images.
Picture no. 3 is my favorite.
The first and moody !! Thank you !!
1st moody photo for me! Great info.
I love B&W photography but in this instance I prefer the moody shots. They look like tinted B&W shots, which I also love, if done well
Haha I just made a similar video BUT I still had snow, and still in my beginning of nature photography but inspiring to see this video 🙌🏻 Soooo amazing photos you got!!! Just stunning! Love the first and third one, can’t decide on which I like the best 😅 but absolutely the moody versions for me ✨

Incredible photo, Mads!
Beautiful, and as always very instructive. 2nd moody for me !

Awesome video Mads, that tree shot turned out super moody.

I prefer the second one and the series in b&w
Epic lemonade Mads!

what a great video
2nd one because more dynamic lines
I prefer the second
Hmm. . .which photo do I like. Ah, all of them but for different reasons. The dark and moody is very cool but honestly for me it's a tough call.

My favorite was the middle photo, in black and white.
nice pictures. it would be great to see the raw file and then blending it over to the edited photo in the video!!
Have you ever made a video about advice for shooting photos in windy conditions?
Moody collection for me. Out of interest Mads what length exposure did you use for the sky. Obviously it has maintained detail but is still blurred? How exactly did you combine these two exposures? Thks, John
I like the moody photos, not the black and white; B&W have less drama. Also, first and third photos seem best to me!
No1 and moody for me although I'd be pleased with any.
Vertical is best
Will you be selling a physical version of your book?
Anyone know how the exposure in camera is done past 30s. Is it different on different models, my A7iv will only let me do 30s before manually holding exposure open. The camera in this is counting down from more than 30s?

2nd moody
👍👏
Hello ! An information for the Photoshop course. I do not use Apple can I still access the classes ? Thanks for everything and have a nice day !
I access the (excellent) classes from my Windows pc.
Someone thought ahead and brought spikes! 3rd shot for me, 2nd trunk in 2nd shot is a little bit distracting
All excellent but i slightly prefer the moody versions.
Great video. You live in a pretty shitty area weather-wise, but you still make it work!
Personally feel that the constant sales pitch for e books / courses etc. is getting a bit much and these would be better as a quick intro or at the end rather than constantly interrupting the flow of what I’m watching as I struggle to get back in to it once the sales pitch appears
Never not moody.
The photos were very nice, I liked the b/w versions especially. Your videos do seem to be turning into one long advert for your various products though. It’s almost like you’re begging.
