0:14 - girls, this isn't face powder or flour. 0:44 - where are you pointing the camera? Point it at me! 1:30 - I put on a pink shirt, thinking it's gonna raise my mood. Its rainy outside. It didn't help.
some folks commenting seem to be forgetting he is an Olympic lifter. To my eyes his "deadlift" (stance, grip, spinal position, not locking out, etc.) is all about developing the first pull as part of the the Olympic clean lift.
PART 2: And we also wrap our thumbs with bandages. The bar has rough surface and it makes the skin on thumbs stretch. *to Lapikov* What are you shootin? Lapikov: your hands Klokov: Screw the hands, I've already showed them. Shoot me. So the barbell may slip from the grip, stripping the skin, which causes bloody calluses. And when we wrap the thumbs, barbell squeezes the bandage, not your skin. So out thumbs are intact. *looks at the boy at the background* How are ye? And now the deadlift time
PART 3: I put on pink t-shirt, hoping that it'd improve the mood. But it didn't. No sun today, I miss the lifts and the mood is crappy. Even the pink t-shirt didn't help. *gives a shout-out to the guy in the back* Anton! Lapikov: His name's Ilya! Ilya: Anton is fine Klokov: well we have Lapikov aka Leonardo Di Caprio and Ilya aka Anton then. Everyone has a nickname. Don't hold the grudge. Even Lapikov don't hold it for being called Di Caprio. Lapikov: Today's the last day I take this shit.
RECAP. PART 1: I often get asked (by girls, specially): what is it that you smear your hands with? It's neither powder, nor flour - it's chalk (or magnesia, to be precise). This is a special chemical composition that prevents hands from sweating and the bar - from slipping from our hands. The weights are big, the bar is made from metal and the sweat can make hands slippery and make you accidentally open your grip.
EnglishSmoker2 its actually a deadlift for oly lifters, weightlifting shoes, wide grip, hook grip, all for olympic weightlifting its not powerlifting style
damn. that's just over 628 lbs when you convert it. I believe he doesn't fully lockout because that doesn't really translate over to his snatch, or powerclean. where he is stopping his progression with the deadlift seems right about where he would explode with the bar to finish the movement for a snatch or clean. I think he just wants his deadlifts to be applicable to his competition movements.
its cause he doesn't deadlift like a strongman or powerlifter. The lockout is more about the gluts than the back and he's only training his back for the first pull of his olympic lifts. He doesn't use his quads or hips in the deadlift because they arent needed until the second and 3rd pulls. If he were to use his hips, he'd be making contact eith the bar as if he was going to clean it
The back stabilizes, and the core works against the back to create enough tension in the body to support the weight. The hips and legs are the prime movers. Of the hips and legs, the glutes and hamstrings, both among the biggest muscles in the body provide most of the power.
Pop songs in English are popular in Russia as well. I am sure 99.9% of people don't understand them, but they still like them. Btw, they listen to Russian songs too in other videos.
Can somebody tell me what this deadlift type is called? I seem to be most powerful when I deadlift using this method, but I'm not sure it's the best way to dead?
Interesting to think he is Russian and didn’t speak great English until recently. This music is probably more special and foreign to him than us as Americans who understand the words and hear it all the time
My guess is two things 1) He is using Olympic lifting shoes for a deadlift. It is a lot harder to sit back doing a deadift with a 3/4" inch heel. 2) He is using a hook grip. Hook grip just kills the thumbs and thumbnails with all that weight on the bar.
I never get why these guys lift massive amounts of weight with Rhianna and crappy pop songs playing (Nelly in this case). Maybe I should stop listening to death metal and pick up some Backstreet Boys.
Klokov: ich hab doch alles schon gezeigt! Hehe...
... Klokov: meine Finger sind im Arsch! Finger schmerzen sehr! Die jungeren sind gerade gekommen! Wir, die alten müssen hier weg!
What the fuck are you even saying? Do you know how strong Klokovs posterior chain is? He can do 260kg snatch grip deadlifts, if you did that you would be in a wheelchair. Also a 285kgx4 deadlifts is fucking impressive, and he isnt even a powerlifter. No one overhead presses 200kg, you're probably thinking about clean & jerk which is far from an overhead press
i never though somebody would EVER lift 285kg from the floor with NELLY - Dilemma playing in the backround! klokov even rocks to lovesongs!! i bet he doesn´t understand a word...
I would guess that as an olympic weightlifter he's really training the first pull. If he locks out all the time it might lead to adverse effects for his second pull explosiveness.
Many theories out there - he likes it that way, one leg is longer than the other, he's had surgery on one knee, etc.. lol. He's a complete monster though!
You got the conventional, trap, sumo deadlift and without further a duo we got the Klokov deadlift b*%ches! I'm pumped today is leg day for me! I'm gonna grip it, stance it and not lock it like him. Quit hatin on my man here, he's so Russian cool that he gets to create his own form.

lifting to this music makes it more difficult
*****
yeah metal and maybe a beard are a true tonic for strong lifts ;)

IS HE DOING A HOOK GRIP WITH OVER 600 POUNDS!!!???? jeeeesus christ dude, fuck that shit!
Yes it's amazing
under/over with that weight waaay increases the risk of tearing a bicep on the underhand grip side
EnglishSmoker2 its actually a deadlift for oly lifters, weightlifting shoes, wide grip, hook grip, all for olympic weightlifting its not powerlifting style
gotta love this dude, he would be an awesome friend to have, ( well if you can understand him).
TonyMon16 That is very thrue!
Using hook grip with 285 on the bar, fuckkkkk

My finger are fucked!
Damn. My thumbs hurt.
All right the younger kids are here to train, and us, the grandpas, have to get out of here.
That music dough...
wow. his legs are totally out of it. his core strength is incredible esp. his lower back. doing those weights with no belt. what a beast.
you mean his quads are out of it, its the hams doing the work, thats why its called a "pull"
i always listen to Mariah Carey when I lift... Dreamlover is my jam... Just kidding, this dude is no joke with a 627lb DL.

Was it just me, or did his feet look like they weren't lined up? Doesn't matter either way, was just curious. Klokov is an absolute BEAST!
its also not really THAT much.
Pop songs in English are popular in Russia as well. I am sure 99.9% of people don't understand them, but they still like them. Btw, they listen to Russian songs too in other videos.
Anyone else find it remarkable that he can deadlift 600+ lbs and not even used a mixed grip?
Can somebody tell me what this deadlift type is called? I seem to be most powerful when I deadlift using this method, but I'm not sure it's the best way to dead?
85305 If it's fit for you, try sumo-deadlifts.
I've been sticking with the stiff leg dead lift, often times I'll Klokov deadlift... I can hit 405 a few times and I can rep with ~380lbs.
just using his lower back. no leg drive. this guy is amazing
How does he lift with that music...it must be apart of his training, listening to terrible music while conquering help builds a champion
Interesting to think he is Russian and didn’t speak great English until recently. This music is probably more special and foreign to him than us as Americans who understand the words and hear it all the time

Adidas weightlifting shoe made for the 2008 games. They release new shoes all the time not sure if they still have those in stock anymore.

he is almost doing straight good mornings ..... that man is a beast , love him
That's a matter of opinion.... I would say that "Imperium" by Machine Head is the best deadlift music ever ;)
yeah i can see when you are a keyboard warrior. There is nothing wrong with the form on his deadlifts.
oh no:-) there is ONE on the planet who presses the 200...and more !! shure not a weightlifter...
You thought Klokov was deadlifting 285x4 in pounds? Gimme a fucking break. One handed maybe...
No... It's called a "stiff-legged" deadlift for a reason. These are not clean pulls lol.
Just in case -- He talks about the hook grip, hence why he wrapped his thumbs...
Can you explain how you came to that conclusion lol.. your logic is terrible.
jesus christ. his lower back must be strong as fuck... sketchy form though
If you deadlift once a month and dont have calluses on your hands... Yes.
Wrong... The spine erectors are the prime movers, hamstrings secondary.
Why are there songs playing in English when they are in Russia/Russian?
He could do 300+ if he did regular not stiff legged dl
Soldfui Norbert probably he can deadlift 350-400kg
@@oliverogaz4224 He wasn't ever near a 400kg deadlift. Max 350kg probably 340kg.
Best video of angry n funny as hell of klokov.
Clean style deadlift, locking out is counterproductive to cleaning
I'd talk shit about the background music... but it's Klokov
kind of imbalance, he has to fix it that way

i hate doing deadlifts with hook grip. Hurts like hell....
627 lbs is a shit load; I dont care who you are.
not sure about the song in the back ground haha
Adistar a older model that isn't sold anymore.
why is his left foot in front of his right?
Does anybody know why he doesn't lock out?
as if the pink shirt wasn't enough, haha
This guy is the best.
What kind of wrap is that on his thumb?
Hey Dmitry! If I buy that shirt, will I ever be as strong as you?!?!?!?

Easy now fanboy
hook grip brah
Nice
It's a joke!
Hook grip.
No Rep!
cuz they doesnt care about that, in russia u come into jym and u dont pick songs
He uses hook grip. It hurts a bit but allows you to lift more weight without mixed grip.
what a different music while workout
no...
Where can I buy a backpack like that red Russia one on the bench? So cool.
Most likely to make hook grip less painful and stressful, without using straps
dat music
yes he has quite asymmetric stance. Weird but seems to work for him...
Look here people, finally someone who understands human physiology.
Just divide the kg with 0,454 and you have it in lbs (285/0,454 = 628 lbs)
He's referring to the 225kg push press klokov did I assume
