  • @fearedxblade
    @fearedxblade 9 лет назад +47

    hes emphasising this because, crossfiter focus too much on the shrug, the shrug is something that doesnr need to be mentioned because it is naturally goin to happen when you complete the clean in any fashion, and people in crossfit are told to not use their arms enough, when in fact you use your arms plenty when done properly.

      Good answer Ivan, yes that was my interpretation too!

    • @fearedxblade
      @fearedxblade 9 лет назад +2

      I agree, however people are going to have there own styles of lifting. when it comes to the textbook definition of the mechanics for each movement, it needs to be mentioned that the info that is given to you is generalized not personalized. The same thing goes for when a coach is teaching larger audiences for example Dmitry here! He gives more generalized directions to the class but when he talks one on one with each athlete he dives in to there specific needs, whether or not that includes emphasizing the shrug or arm involvement. To help your understanding I would say that you were taught the way you where is because it was based more on you personal faults and where you need to improve for ex. Your upper body motions regarding the shrug and arm involvement

      @@jaeggerhead yeah mate, not massive gains but a noticable difference over a few weeks. I’m not a big dude, 79kgs, but the biggest difference I would say is that 4 weeks ago my trap was like a triangle that came down halfway along my shoulder, now my trap extends out to the edge of my shoulder. I’m happy, pulling 60kg for 8 and 90kg for 1 at the moment. What about you? You giving them a go?

      @@byza101 That's awesome dude, and those numbers are impressive too. I'm not quite there yet, since high pulls exposed a weakness in my scapula and I have to work on that before I up the weights. But still, my shoulders, traps and upper back have gotten way thicker. Throw in some direct neck work and you'll look like a beast! We're the same weight btw :D

  • @0cation

    so while classic snatch, the bar should hit the hip area or ( high thigh) and that generate the speed with u exteding on ur heels ? ,, i've always seen that the lifter actually hit( kicks) the bar

    • @philheathslegalteam
      @philheathslegalteam 4 года назад

      Bar speed is generated from the first and second pull and then contact and your body goes on toes as a result of upwards momentum generating from those 3 points.

  • @cmergen1404
    @cmergen1404 9 лет назад +3

    What was he saying the reason is for making contact three times before the pull? Is it to recognize where you should be making contact?

    • @Dachek
      @Dachek  9 лет назад +5

      cmergen1404 Exactly, emphasizing the position at contact and i guess also learning how to use the lats to drive the bar into the body.

    What to do if doing high pull like that and holding the way for a pause on the top of the lift, gives shoulder pain?

  • @cnolan9751
    @cnolan9751 7 лет назад

    why does Klokov say to not raise the bar above the bottom of the chest? ive always thought the high pull should come below the chin

    • @solmyr2
      @solmyr2 7 лет назад +7

      bcz when you have a lot of weight you cant lift it more than that, its humanly impossible, your elbows will start going backwards . you will start to "lift" the bar with your wrist , but that actually is not lifting aymore bcz the bar will loose inertia more than you can lift it with your wrist and forearms so from there you will decresea the speed most of the time the bar will actually stop right there. Most of the power comes from your legs/hips, and then traps and some arms. When the bar reaches your chest you have to go under the bar, not to bring the bar over you.

    • @cnolan9751
      @cnolan9751 7 лет назад

      okay, so when ive seen the chinese team lift it to their chin, are they using poor form or doing the exercise differently?

    • @solmyr2
      @solmyr2 7 лет назад

      Solitary Wolf in exercise? Bcz if you watch it in slow motion I'm pretty sure the bar is not going that hight. Show me the video.

      there are many ways to do things. Klokov is teaching the way he was taught by his coach. This is how the Russians do it. The Chinese have different training styles. The French have different training styles. you have to chose which one to believe or find your own style. I like to use a mixture of Russian and Chinese training methods.

    • @Dachek

      UTDMADMAN I think it is because in a full snatch, the bar never travels higher than the chest anyway.

    • @MrRogers413
      @MrRogers413 9 лет назад +4

      Jakob Richloow STHLMstrength He also mentions it staying closer to the body that way. When the bar gets higher his elbows start to drift backwards and the bar goes forward a bit, which he says is "no good".

  • @dakshinamurti
    @dakshinamurti 10 лет назад +2

    I'm having trouble following this... why no shrug? aren't we supposed to shrug in these movements? If so, what would be the point of practicing a clean/snatch pull by pulling from elbow flexion? it wouldn't carryiover to the final shrug "product". What am I missing?

    • @Dachek
      @Dachek  10 лет назад +17

      Remember that this is only ONE of many systems, some other teaches the active shrug. Though, during the seminar we figured out that what Klokov meant was that he didnt want an active shrug, but a shrug that comes naturaly from the arm/elbow-pull.

    • @akshaypandey747
      @akshaypandey747 10 лет назад

      in shrugging there is lot more chance of weight staying in front rather in upright position as you can see in video . Then why shrug ? see buddy shrugging is taught for coordination so that during the lift you pull it from shoulder followed by bent elbow.shrugging is mainly used in clean for shoulder movement . pulling the weight makes lift much more easier you try out yourelf and you will see you will rarely miss the lift . :)
