#FinalFantasyVII #FF7 #FF7R
In this video Dreamcastguy reviews the Final Fantasy VII FF7 Remake on a PlayStation 4 Pro while showing gameplay of the new story, combat, and side quest mini games and giving it a score.
Final Fantasy VII Remake[a] is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The game is a sequel to the 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII, largely recreating portions of the original plot and eventually diverging. Square Enix will release the game as a multi-part series, with the first entry released for the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020 with timed exclusivity for one year.
Players control mercenary Cloud Strife as he and a group known as AVALANCHE oppose Shinra, a megacorporation, from using the planet's life essence as an energy source. The gameplay combines real-time action with other strategic elements.
Remake was announced following years of fan requests and rumors. Key staff members returned, including character designer Tetsuya Nomura as director and main character designer, director Yoshinori Kitase as producer, writer Kazushige Nojima, and music composer Nobuo Uematsu. They also added content not seen in the original, and redesigned the characters to balance realism and stylization. Final Fantasy VII Remake aims to retell the story of the original Final Fantasy VII. Players control Cloud Strife, a former Shinra soldier who joins the AVALANCHE eco-terrorist group as a mercenary to fight the Shinra Corporation, who have been draining the planet's life energy. The game is a full remake with real-time polygonal graphics, as opposed to the pre-rendered environments of the original.
Exploration and battle mechanics both take place in real-time, like Final Fantasy XV. The game features an altered "Active Time Battle" (ATB) system from the original, which gradually fills up slowly, or can fill faster with attacks. Once it is filled, the player can halt the action and use special abilities such as magic, items, and special moves. The player can also assign these special abilities to shortcut buttons, allowing them to play entirely in real-time without pausing. Each special ability uses up a segment of the ATB bar. The player can also switch between party members at any time. Each party member has their own individual skills, such as Cloud's close-quarters melee attacks and Barret's long-range distance attacks. Players will also be able to use magic and summons, and a Limit Break gauge allows characters to perform more powerful attacks once charged. Producer Yoshinori Kitase stated that while the game has more real-time elements, there would still be strategic elements, such as selecting weapons and magic for each character to wield. Игры
Thanks for all the love and support. I feel like years of youtube videos have led to this moment. You are all the BEST!!
😀
Man the reasons you listed is why i'm not purchasing this. I got bored with FF13\FF15 combat and you said the main issue is pacing and combat. Ill watch people stream it to get a feel for it but i believe this is not for me.
DreamcastGuy excelent review! Love it 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Just my opinion but that Jessie spoiler need to go. Once again just an opinion
@@azuza2525 ya man the combat is a bit trash the camera is horrible during combat 😢
Ff7 fans: we'd like really pretty upgraded graphics with some story stuff better explained
Square: how about a game called ff7 with the characters but is a different game all together?
I thought you weren't going to spoil anything in this review but then you revealed something very important about Jesse. I wish I didn't know that!
They should rename this game.. Final Fantasy 7: Midgar Stories
If i could put a title I would go for Final Fantasy 7: Episode Midgar
That sh*t can't be called "final fantasy 7" :v
I had the same though Final Fantasy 7: Midgar
Final Hearts Fantasy Kingdom 7
@Aaron9 nah dont justify this bullshit man.
I think the key word for this game is "Padding" and not in a good way.
Personally, I didn’t even notice the padding because the levels were pretty fun to play through for the most part.
@@superlombax1561 LOL you really must not have played the original to say that.
@@superlombax1561 same lol
I played the original and I immensely enjoyed the "padding". The pacing feels natural (except maybe for the side quests, but that's why those are optional). In the original, as much as I love it, the pacing is insane. You hop from one location to the next sooo fast. And some characters are just a piece of cardboard, I personally like that Jessie feels like a real person
Worst padding ever. Remake minus elements of og is bad.
"Won't contains spoilers"

Why are you watching any reviews then?
@@Deeplycloseted435 they're reviews.... to help potential customers decide if the want to make the purchase.
Pussy, what kinda of fucking review you want? Just a 10 second video him saying “it’s great” and give it a score, dumbfuck
"Did I mention I played and completed the original FF7 a BAJILLION times on multiple consoles and I'm really great at it?"
You could've just said "Jessie gets a much bigger role and a more fleshed out backstory" and just left it at that. In fact, that's all you SHOULD'VE said.
Exactly.....
Absolute joke, this always happens with this guy.. I love his stuff but he takes it way too far.
RIGHT?? He starts off with “there will be absolutely no spoilers” and then goes into specific story details on a brand new side story?? WTF? Explaining gameplay is important but usually spoilers are most relevant with story stuff. Not finishing the video now, already heard something I would’ve rather found out playing on my own...
Yall are kidding me with this, right? All these comments about "spoilers" for some barely-even-a-character to the point that a statement like "Jessie has a family" is considered a spoiler in the first place. Newsflash people that's not "a much bigger role" that's called "filler", desperately trying to pad out 4 hours of actual content
@@D3stinySm4sher your watching a video about the game you want to play. You have no right to complain about getting spoiled. And to be honest, its a side character that means nothing. You aren't getting spoiled all that much.
are the other characters playable for exploration, or are they only during battles?
How is explaining Jesse's backstory NOT a spoiler.
I'm not actually angry or anything...but this absolutely was a spoiler despite you directly preceding the sentence by saying its not.
This isn't a spoiler or anything but Darth Vader confides in Luke that he's actually his father. What I did there was no different from what you did in this review. Try to be more careful if you ACTUALLY care about reasonably spoiler free reviews.
You could have just as easily said 'this game goes into a detailed subquest to explain Jesse's involvement in the events" and compare how that differs from the original. Nitpick over.
No it would be like watching the film and someone goes oh by the way darth vader was a slave child named anakin it does not impact thr story or gameplay just something nice to know
Haha triggered
@RalDu LMAO
Her back story didn't seem very significant. Her dad works for shinra and he's sick. Wow. There's way bigger spoilers for her if you played the OG
@@sirownzalotgaming3025 Then why have the quest if it's so pointless? Yeah think about it
“No spoilers”....”Now let tell you Jesses entire back story and origin and about her parents”

how did you get it early, im just curios on how i am able to get it early as well
Thank you for your hard work and early review!!!
You do know that “penultimate “ means “second last” don’t you?
This isn't the first time he's made this mistake, either
That was the cringiest example of trying to use big words to sound smart i think I've witnessed on the internet.
Yes, this! Also hate the way people use crescendo in writing, you don't come to a crescendo as much as a crescendo happens. Its an action word, like Steve ran, swam, jumped, ate, no way he came to a swam.
Happy gaming!
Oops, genuinely did not realize that lol. Thanks for the correction! :P
Came here to leave the same comment lmao
I really love how they took what was literally just a single image of a location on the screen in the original that you would run across in seconds, and blew each and every single one of them up into massive sprawling levels. It's insane. I can understand how people may feel its a bit dragged out and even I felt a hint of that, I just couldn't deny my joy of any excuse to spend more time in Midgar.
@Xbdnxnsn Jsndnxnd I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly lol The idea that the dialogue, writing, performances, combat, exploration, and world building, is all "weak"? Well damn dude, I hope you get that GOD TIER game you picture in your head someday. I can't say I envy your standards, rather just enjoy the clearly genuine efforts of the artists that obviously worked very hard on this game. A hell of a lot harder than many other dev studios seem to these days that's for sure. But again, you keep reaching for the moon man. I'm sure games will catch up to your standards someday.
@Xbdnxnsn Jsndnxnd mmmmm... it's just a bit too much arrogance and attitude for me to even like you enough to care about your opinion, frankly. Maybe never being on Twitter just hasn't prepared me for how combative people are online. You can think whatever you like about my standards, you have no idea who I am or what matters to me. Just take it back to Twitter. Not interested.
super great review and intro tutorial!
! Thank you!!
Dreamcast guy, do you think part 2 will be a whole new disc or just dlc?
WARNING! It does contain spoilers! Starts at 9:31, jump to 10:22 to be safe. He says he is gonna give an example and that it isn't a spoiler, but that's false - it actually was a huge spoiler and reveals a side character's backstory which was not in the original. Got nothing against you mr. Dreamcastguy, but that was a shitty move when you stated at the start of the video that you had no spoilers. Downvoted for that.
Rene Hoidal thank you
Honestly it's why I ignored his review of Resident Evil 3 remake! Everyone seemed so damn eager to spoil the newest game when they get it earlier than the rest of us! With the virus going around then many retailers f****** closed that if you have any reservations you are canceling it especially if you pre-order digitally! What is the point of his brutally honest review! All this is going to do is not just spoil people but now give them dread because they can't get their money back! Dreamcastguy really should have took him to mind those people when he made both this in the previous review he had some points do I believe sphere Hunter did it better by not majorly spoiling s***! When she did her own review! Honestly I never liked how companies were blocking people from releasing their reviews until after the game came out but now now I'm starting to appreciate it. Because some people don't seem to understand the concept of don't spoil because they hated it so they decide that everyone else is going to hate it! There are only some exceptions to that the game is b******* anyway so I might as well spoil it for you! And that usually is after the game came out! You don't spoil a game that hasn't released yet even if you hated the story or the gameplay!
Hell it's a good thing I decided to check the comment section won't pausing the video while it's still on an ad! Otherwise I wouldn't have read comments like this one you put down commenter and realize he's doing exactly what he did with as I said the Resident Evil 3 remake, like so many other reviewers minus the one I mentioned did where they decide the spoil everything because they were going through over hyped hate for some f****** reason! Doesn't matter if you got overhyped and they failed to meet your expectations don't spoil a game that hasn't released yet!
Probably considered it not a spoil but he could have rephrased and left the example more vague
That's why they call him the Liecastguy..
Rene Hoidal stfu
My main question is from what I have seen it sometimes REWRITES things from the original. Is this a prominent thing and is it good that it does this or is it bad? Also, was Sephiroth being a true One Winged Angel in FFVII important? I thought that was kind of unnecessary, though the demo showed feathers so now I'm like "Oh god they're making him KH Sephiroth".
Great vid thanks dude.
My big Q is how will this work on PS5? I gave my Ps4 to my brother and I'm going to wait for the 5 to play this game and I'd like to think they'll make a up spec'd version for it.
U say the bosses took long. Was there is a way to level up before fighting bosses?
i never knew it was to be split into pieces.. i was looking forward to the chocobo racing... :(
I felt that when he said u feel relieved after some of the boss fights. It took at least 40 minutes for some of those final bosses
The airbuster was a pain but I didn't mind the boss fights being so long.
40 mins? The longest fight i had was 10 minutes, what where you doing just hacking and slashing?
vincentgraymore is what? I thought this game was on baby mode. I would play though it again on hard mode now, but honestly the game was such a chore to play I had to force myself to finish it the first time. Fucking Square needs to never let Nomura direct anything again. He ruins everything he touches.
Is the midgard section the only level in the game . Instead of the open world?
Very nice review! Can’t wait to play it for myself on Friday!
I find this review to be analytical and insightful, rather than "brutally" honest.
Got to chapter 11 boss fight and found a game breaking bug! Now I'm stuck and only thing I can do is load a save from 10 hours ago. Make sure you do manual saves and don't rely entirely on auto saves!
Day 1 patch?
@DevilKaz Yeah I'm fucking pissed but what can I do. It's not like they're gonna fix the game unless it's a common occurance. Funny thing I Found an "out of bounds" exploit while I was trying to fix my game.
@@shade1788 Don't think so unless same thing keeps happening to other ppl as well.
🤣🤣🤣 dude that was hilarious
@Afterlife is The Future when the ghoul boss grabbed a hold of Cloud my game immediately jumped to a cutscene which I believe was supposed to be shown after the fight was done. After the cutscene my party is placed right under where the ghoul fight took place, and I can see his health bar (at zero health) through the roof. But I can't move anywhere bc my party thinks I'm in battle, so I can't activate those 'nodes' you use to move to ladders etc.
Also, if I "retry from last battle" I can fight the ghoul up to half of his health, when he rearranges the room and disappears. At this time my party is locked inside the room.
Is the deluxe version worth it, well i guess just the summons i am asking?
You do some of the best game reviews, stumbled across channel on accident have been watching for a year now maybe more
13:53 I totally agree with them dragging out certain bits. It sort of reminded me of uncharted, where you travel from A to B, and then just as you get to B you fall off a cliff and have to find another way up.
This sums up the game perfectly.
The combat system should've been more hack in slash.
The fact cloud doesn't have light/heavy/kick attack buttons and a 3 page combo list is unfortunate.
Materia spells would of course either be just the hot link system (summons would be r2 and can be used at any point once per battle or maybe when dmg meter is full) or L1 to bring up command menu for spells/summons/items.
Limit would work similar to spells as part of combo chain.
Kspice9000 nah, I thought the combat system was great. Each enemy was different so taking it down easily required different materia combos or strategy. Helped kept the combat fresh. It’s not a one button spam and battles aren’t as repetitive as other FF games have been.
@@nathanmarkus9823not even as repetitive as OG battles were

It takes you four hours to download a game? Jesus, i think mine downloaded in about 5-8 mins

I don't think that "penultimate version" means what you think it means...
This review helped a lot. I've been on the fence about it for a while because I had long been thinking it might be better to wait for the PC release. After going back and forth a bit, your review actually brought me to the point that I'm definitely going to wait.
Between getting heavily into / playing other games and wanting to replay FF7 on Switch first, I really think waiting for the PC version next year is the best choice.
It's great, I got for free, I'm loving it

Absolutely love this game and I agree with a lot of points you made. I am more optimistic about the ending tho.

Hojo’s basement lab where you have to open multiple doors sucks! So padded out. But dang, I love so many other things about this game.
Dude this is an early review, why couldnt you just use trailers and the demo footage for the review? No respect dude, im glad that I turned it off 30 seconds into it.

I heard this game is more linear so if you finish the game you dont can go back ? So you need to start over or how can you be level 99 or see everything or going back ? I want to know only 🤔
Once you complete the game you unlock another difficulty. The game now allows you to go back to chapters but you cannot start all over as a game + type of thing. Also, the game has a level cap of 50.
@@icmz thanks for the info 😁 i hope new game plus will come
I give this a 9/10. My only real gripe was the introduction of Sephiroth way too early. The original game references him a lot, but didn't officially introduce him until Kalm. It adds mystery to the story.
Introducing him so early just seemed like fan service shoved in my face. I know the game as a whole is fan service, but they should have held back just a bit.
Apart from that, it's incredible!
Great video. It's really refreshing to see brutally honest reviews. After all, nothing is perfect.
I was actually super intrigued by the ending. I don't think its so much that they outright changed a fundamental plot point in having a certain character apparently survive, but more like there are alternate outcomes/futures and parallel timelines that can be created. I'm curious to see what Square takes the story. Until its all done I can't render a definitive verdict until the story is complete.
I completely agree. You can't really argue that everything from the original wasn't included in this game. They still encounter the same characters and they still end up doing the same thing at the very end, which is leave midgar. They just added a lot of story to it which I think they probably had some in mind for the original, but cut due to tenichal capabilities of the time. I actually enjoyed the entire game, everything for me was perfect.
@@mrmr3963 i like how this game gets me speculating and making theories because of the new elements and has me going back to check on FFVII Universe Lore.
If introducing the idea of parallel timelines and alternate futures to a story that originally didn't have any isn't fundamentally changing it, then I don't know what is. Can't think of a concept more disruptive to a narrative than that.
@@MASJYTDevs literally said they wanted to do this in the original but didn’t have the technology, but go off
@@mindxfuneral I call this the George Lucas syndrome. George lamented how the original SW trilogy didn't come out the way he wanted and the many ideas that were left off the table. Then he spent the next 30 years "fixing it" adding stuff to the movies and lore that nobody liked. SW wasn't him... it was lighting in a bottle, the many people that worked on it who also contributed, coming out at the right moment at the right time etc etc etc. I don't think Kitase, Nojima and Nomura understand that and are doing the same thing.
Dreamcastguy, you mentioned some boss battles being way too long and somewhat boring. Do you think playing it on Hard could remedy this by making the boss battle more thrilling because it's attacks will actually carry the weight of death... or not?
Would this PS4 CD game play in the PS5?
I agree with your score, however, you certainly had more negatives than positives about the game in this video. 9/10 feels weird after hearing all these complaints. I also finished the game and would give it 9-9.5 out of 10. They absolutely exceeded my expectations.
The game is at best a 8/10 on a technical level. But the game itself and how they butchered the story makes its a 3/10. This is not a remake and SQUARE should be sued for marketing it as such.
I'm just in chapter 6 right now and as a fan it's 9.3 for me. Objektively, I would rate it 8.7.
There are some things they could have done better, but the stories is very well told so far.

@@worawatsr9803 Mostly nostalgia... Its not even the best FF (like, ff6 was way better story wise... And the 3 had a charm like any other, that's why it was the base for a lot of spin off like Bravely default).
honest truth - in FF7R they stretched the time needed to get to different events in the original 7 by making you have to travel longer distances and do alot of little side quests in between, feels like a hallway simulator again like FF13 although a little better since there are actual towns, but compared to the original game, FF7R is severely lacking. Game is a 7/10 at best.
Original ff7 had you boxed in too lol
This is my most anticipated video from you channel, since your such a fan of this game I loved to hear your thoughts on it
"Boss like to grab you and throw you at your friends." I already know this one because of a trailer where it happened haha.
Seems like 1 of your complaints is that not all attacks are effective at all times (trying to use Blizzaga as an example). My question is, how is that a bad thing?
you really didn't need to think too hard about using spells in the original. This time? bruh.
Mike The Gamer man it’s a sad day when people complain about having to use their brain for once to actually be strategic
If it's like the old game, you could buy materia to where every party member has the same spells. Not necessary or particularly helpful, but imagine everyone only has Blizzard as their only Magic materia, then they get to this boss. I'm pretty sure not being able to use Blizzard wasn't something SQ-Enix thought "Oh, we should make it impossible to use this particular spell on this particular boss by making him move too quickly". If they wanted to make Blizzard useless against him, they'd make it so that he had immunity to Ice element.
Materia being unusable shouldn't really be a thought process for people, especially if they have to use the MP and an ATB bar to cast it. It's only meant for extra high damage, so unless the enemy's immune to that, it shouldn't necessarily matter whether it hits or not. If a Fire is able to hit, a Blizzard should be able to as well(the only difference is their element), if for example that enemy is neutral to both elements. His complaint was also that some attacks were more useful than others, using Blizzard as a prime example. That means this is more of a ""Blizzard is useless for the most part because it's so slow and most of the enemies are so fast" rather than a "Blizzard is useless against this one particular enemy, but can be useful against others".
@@jonp1952 Ive played the game quite a bit now and blizzard is FAR from useless, lol.
Except he's wrong because Blizzard is one of the best spell sets in the game. Maybe if he had talked about the Air spell set...its not useless but its less useful overall then the Ice Set.
theres NOTHING wrong with the boss fights. these fights were fantastic. 10 to 15 min boss fights were always fantastic
Duece Hunter agreed
And if you use the battle system correctly they don't last that long anyway for the most part.

Well I can nitpick problems in some of the best games ever and they're still 9,5 or 10s. And sometimes the journey is better than the conclusion. I personally got no problem with that. For example, the ending of the God of War is VERY anti climactic but the game is still a 9.5 because of how good it is.
Same goes for a cult hit like Dragon's Dogma, the game has a billion problems and everybody that loves it will tell you to look past it's rough parts because it's a fantastic game.

when is it coming out for PC?
I've played the original FF7 PS1 game from beginning to end and it was great, but...I didn't find it as great as everyone was building it up to be. Please hear me out. I understand that this was a very impressive game compared to a lot of other games back in the 1990's, but I wouldn't say this was the best Final Fantasy game that I experienced. A huge reason is well...the world and the lack of fantasy it offers. The game has a few intriguing places, a few amazing moments, a few beautiful fantasy locations and the life streams are nice touch, but that's just it. It's just a few good things out of most of the game. Most of the game is just normal towns and normal forests that you see in our world, which is also a huge issue for Final Fantasy 15. And Midgar, the most epic city the game has to offer, was actually pretty underwhelming too because it just looked like a giant factory with normal smaller cities built beneath it. Even the final location before the final boss is underwhelming compared to other Final Fantasy games because it's just an underground cave. This game definitely would've been a lot better if it offered an even balance between epic Sci-Fi locations and epic Fantasy locations, which other Final Fantasy games, including Final Fantasy 13, got right. The best highlight of Final Fantasy 7 is definitely mostly the characters and the main villain. The story that the game has to offer is decent. I will say that the game does deserve a good review, but I just don't think it deserves an HD Remake as much as Final Fantasy games like Final Fantasy 6, 4 and 9 do. I would place Final Fantasy 7 on the waiting list for a remake and have Final Fantasy 6, 4, and 9 remade beforehand.
Well said. I love 7, but I wish a different installment was made first then they could’ve tweaked what works with those to make FF7 Remake even better. While the original was a masterpiece, I recently replayed it and was shock with how linear it was.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not as linear as XIII, since they don’t force you down a path, but aside from playing mini-games you’re basically moving from set piece to set piece.
The only parts of the story which can be played out of order are the Huge Materia section, the wall market sidequests, and you can do Wutai whenever you want after you can get there and the game still hints that you should do it as soon as you get the Tiny Bronco (if Yuffie is with you). Pretty much everything else is fairly linear.
That can be said about a lot of FF games I too though. But it’s a shame that a major gripe with XIII also exists within VII and while the difference is one has much better characters, even though most are one-note characters. I think XIII gets a lot of flack because it’s trying so hard to outdo VII. While VII wasn’t trying to compete with VI and it was a success.
@@jordanw.97 To be fair, Final Fantasy has been gone linear since FF7. From 1-6, it was non-linear that u can do wherever u wanted to go until you go to your point of destination you're suppose to go whenever ways. But depending on where u go, there's gonna be some level curve difficulty that u may have to be cautious if u don't interact with cause some monsters can be 6 or above higher levels than yours and u could get wipe out quicker. So u have to either fight or try to run; which the rating is very low that u might get stuck & all your party members might get destroyed. Guess that's why starting with FF7, they didn't make them non-linear like it once was and so they wanted to keep the level curve balanced. Now with games like FF7 or FF9, it's not really an big deal since; while yes, u do go from set piece to set piece, each area designs are spacies and has multiple branch or other platforms that u can go & get goodies or take shortcuts at your will and the games aren't that forced. You have your own freedom at will. But starting at FF10 & onwards, everything is incredibly linear. Not just from that your going from that path of the set pieces. But the areas are mostly design as an hallway rather than being open space & lack of branches ( minus an few areas in FF10 like the Spira Land and the desert one where the Al Bhed hideout were ) and the games are really forced that u couldn't do anything at your will until near the end of the game. Especially with the likes of FF13. Even FF8 has areas that u visited once, but afterwards, it locked out through near the end of the entire game. So if u don't get something there before leaving, you're not going back. Stuff like this annoys the heck out of me.
From start of the review: (this review is spoiler free) 2 min later (full of new gameplay) and ....... (Jessie background) he almost talk about the ending lol
Hey dreamcast guy can you give me some tips on battling I'm very far in but still having trouble can you give me some pointers I feel I'm not as strong as I should be at this point also any help will be appreciated ps hell house geesh he was tough and annoying
@Dreamcustguy resident evil 2 or 3?????
I'm sorry my friend but you'll review has a few tonal whip lashes with it my friend. Here I thought you were going to give it a 7.8 or 8.5. Because I think tedious gameplay is not a good basis to make a game.
Penultimate means "second last". I smell a reviewer trying to sound smarter than they actually are.
Yes, because there will be another game after this one
@@mtl4386 but isnt it 3 parts?
Yeah hes 100% not even remotely close to using that word correctly. Penultimate does in fact mean second to last. I don’t understand how the hell he is trying to use it. Perhaps definitive is what he was trying to say?
It's pretty funny. Watched The Happy Console Gamer review and all of the aspects you didn't like about the story, he really enjoyed. Given the polar opposite opinions on this part, I kind of can't wait to try it for myself.
How did you pay 60 dollars for a game that isn't released yet? Are you referring to your pre-order for your non-review copy?
After watching this review, feel like there are a lot more negative qualities about the game that you elected to gloss over. The main things you criticized the game on was the pacing, long boss battles, and the divisive ending (which I'm glad you thought sucked), but how about how linear the dungeon design is for instance? Every dungeon is basically a glorified tunnel with only the occasional treasure chest veering off slightly to the side. Why was FF13 criticized for this HEAVILY but FF7 remake gets a free pass?
Thank you so much for bringing this up! The lack of in depth criticism of this game is staggering. This game has ALL the same massive issues 13 did, but no one is talking about it. Yay another narrow linear corridor to run down. Fun!
UnderratedSheet it’ll be a lot more open in the next part. As is the original. 🤷🏼♂️
Richard Jackson yay wuhuuu I can’t wait .
I just wish that they wouldn’t charge you 60 bucks for a fucking corridor-run.
@@relaxed_bubble1794 "a fucking corridor-run"? :)))....dude, you clearly haven't played the game and just wanted a new reason to complain about something.
I agree. The combat deserve major critique, as its pretty poor.
If the first game ends in Midgar, how can the entire story be told in 2 more parts? Unless the next 2 parts just rushes through the rest of the story.
90% of disc 2 was filler in the original
Hey there. So do you remember the original? After leaving Midgard, excluding the long exposition at the nearby town, there isnt much that happens till Junon. Midgard took 4h to complete but the first continent takes maybe 2h at most. So it seems likely the next game will proceed to the next continent perhaps to Cosmo Canyon. Some thoughts.
@@ThyWordIsTruthJ17 If they keep this pacing it will be like 4 parts before they are done with disc 1. Disc 2 is longer than disc one, but most of it is not important for the story. However in this game they take very much attention to details. Which means if they gonna do the whole game justice they will probably flesh out most of the content on disc 2 as well. Disc 3 is short and is basically not even 1 whole part. But there is no way it will only be 3 parts. At least 4 and that is if they rush. If they keep this pacing it will be probably 10 parts.
Square Enix has not confirmed the number of entries there’s nothing to suggest that it’s only going to be three parts that’s just you
My god I hope not look what they did with Final Fantasy 15 starts out alright them bam speed through even to this day there was part's i'm like wtf just happend.
Thank you for mentioning the ending. I was like what the f*** are they doing?
Looks pretty cool. I'll probably get when it goes on sale.
Its on sale now for 50% off until January 9. Base game is $30 and deluxe version is $40.
Glad I went to the comments first, because apparently this dude spoils a ton of stuff.
ShadowW0lf1 really he doesn't
He says one sentence about a minor character's back story that's insignificant to the overall plot.
@@sirownzalotgaming3025 This dude slips in gameplay footage yet seen. He should have stuck to trailers and demo footage. This guy is a character I tell ya.
Yeah it really pissed me off. Add spoilers to title or into if you gonna ruin a character story. It's not even a general idea of the quest, he tell the ending reveal. That's fucking bs
He really does... umm the whole Jesse sub plot. I was so pissed
Come on man tag spoiler review for people this is a click bait with brutal review should be spoiler review
My only issue with the game was the ending segment really. Everything else felt like it was going in the right direction and following the original FF7. Overall, really good experience and I'm still keen to see what they'll do with the story now.
You say the bosses are way too long what difficulty did you have it on maybe if you had it on easy mode or classic mode the bosses wouldn't be that long
I'm glad it's extremely thicc, and developing character's. People would be complaining if it wasn't. I'm glad the boss fights are extremely long. I can only imagine what Ruby weapon will be like. Super excited.
found the boss length complaint really odd tbh, i'm on the last leg of the game now and every boss fight has felt thrilling, challenging and extremely satisfying. not once did i think "hmm i'm having too much fun, wish this boss only took 5 minutes to beat instead"
His complaint was that he was literally doing the same thing over and over for 30 minutes because the bosses didn't hit very hard and their HP was out the roof. He was saying that some of those bosses just had high HP bars and it was just wittling them down over time with no real thought to the battle. High HP bosses are generally an annoying thing to begin with. A boss that takes a normal amount of time is preferred, OR, a boss that hits like a truck and is hard to get a hit in on, but deals a lot of damage. The length isn't the problem, more the lack of threat combined with the length.
@@jonp1952 The thing is the length of the bosses fight is tied to how efficiently the player played, like look at the first boss Scorpion for instance, most player take 15 minutes beat him the first time, but now players that use the gameplay efficiently can kill him 2 minutes.
@@nesoukkefka1741 I feel like the later bosses are less designed around balance and more designed around throwing as much shit as possible at you, after playing most of the game(I'm right before going into Shinra HQ).
Like there's a fight with 3 Sahagins which aren't even bosses, but their jumps are unblockable, undodgeable(because even using dodge you still get hit by them), and they hit everyone. Those 3 Sahagins, the only way to beat them, is just to outheal and burst them down as quickly as possible, and you 100% have to be at full health. Then you have Reno and Rude. Reno's attacks are much less balanced from when you fight him at the church, as now you can't block hardly any of his attacks, dodging them is difficult, and then enters Rude. You have to kill Reno before the fight enters a more balanced state, but when they're both on the same screen it's just a whirlwind of BS and constant healing. They also took quite a while to beat, especially when you factor in using Steal on such a fight.
Abzu on the other hand is pretty well balanced. His attacks are telegraphed, you can dodge his jump(although I'll admit he landed most of his on me because the window is pretty small), and it's not a big whirlwind of craziness, until he goes all Super Saiyan, at which point it becomes kind of silly, although I didn't have enough time in that part of the fight to learn if there was any counterplay to that. Abzu admittedly though took me quite a while to finally kill. The fight was at least 15 minutes long. Probably closer to 20. That said, I didn't find myself TOO bored with it, because he actually did have enough changeups in the fight for me to not get bored.
Another example of them just throwing as much shit as possible at you is the fight with Beck's Badasses at the colosseum. There are 8 different ones, and all of them can do some sort of status effect on you that makes you unable to perform actions(still haven't figured out what that status effect is since status effects in this game are much less clearly shown than the original). I equipped a Headband on both of my characters and I managed to survive against them without getting hit by that attack but once, and it was much shorter. I don't know if the headband saved me, or if I just happened to get lucky, but that's not a well balanced fight, it was more just them throwing a bunch of crap at me where I had to overpower them rather than play a fight tactically. IF the Headband helped, then that was pre-fight preparation, and the only way I could have won the fight. That's bad design because you 100% have to fail the fight at least once unless you already had Headbands equipped.
@@jonp1952 Ha Sorry will not read for now, I'm currently playing doesn't want to spoil myself, I'll read this when I'll finish the game ^^"
Your review spends too much time talking about what every one knows and then tells us how to play.maybe the 2nd half of it is different but i quit watching
I am up to chapter 4 and loving this game so far. I am doing every side quest I can and exploring everything. It’s just so awesome to see such a detailed Midgar on modern hardware and have the original characters so fleshed out and learn so much more about them. Though I do see this more as a reboot or a reimagining of the original game as opposed to a remake or retelling.
Alex Lovell totally agree man. Loving the game.
I did the same thing. Completed the game 2 hours ago
Great job keeping this vid spoiler free! Loved the review and can’t wait to get my hand on this game later this week
There is something about this that leaves me cold, where has the charm gone?
The game has a lot of charm. I have been watching a walkthrough of the game.
R G just like you 😉
I never played the og Ff7 this will be my introduction to that world after the remake I do plan on playing the original
Stick to the original bro
The original, despite being old af...is much more atmospheric. Partly due to the japanese rating system "CERO" being much more lax back in the day.
Definitely play the original. It's a different game altogether from this one, and a much better experience imo if you can get over the cartoony graphics (which actually compliment the way the story is presented in that game). I'd even play it before I play the Remake, so that you can appreciate the callbacks and nostalgia moments they specifically put in it - which honestly, are the only *really* good aspects of the game for me.
How many parts is this remake suppose to be?
Probably 3
I just beat the game I’m confused are they rewriting the whole story into something’s new?
Short answer? We do not know. Long answer: ...probably.
@Windbury 474 It's longer than the original FF7....that's not a demo.
*I WONT WATCH CAUSE SPOLIERS But did you finsh it?*
“Penultimate”. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means...
Penultimate means before the last.
Pranksta1985 And antepenultimate means before the before the last
The pen is ultimate!
@@paulw858 are you blind or just stupid?
@@Pranksta1985 wtf. I was being serious with a side of silliness. Ultimate is last, penultimate is second to last, antepenultimate is third to last, preantepenultimate is fourth to last, suprapreantepenultimate is fifth to last. Those last three I don't think are officially recognized everywhere, but I was being serious. Why are you being mean?
I think your review is pretty on point with my own ideas about the game. But oh hell yeah some of the boss fights are a grind. The Hell House took me like 40 minutes (and I beat it on the first try).
As someone who played nothing but driving and fighting games when the original was released and so never played it, this is the best explanation of this game I’ve had and by far the best quantification of what the remake has brought to the table.👍🏻
"brutally honest review"
**Checks like/dislike ratio**
Oh no
I was wondering why so many dislikes as I was watching expecting it coming from hardcore fans disliking honest criticism but 3/4 in and you can tell it's because the title is not genuine and misleading. This game had more issues than those mentioned here.
Wtf dude...
That's so many spoilers in ONE vid...

What a jerk move with the spoilers you ended up talking about, not cool. You should cut that part or at least pin one of the comments that mention the timestamp to avoid spoilers.
Yeah :(
What did he spoil? Wasn't this game out for over 20yrs 🤔
@@supersaiyanbro just because a game has been out for 20 years doesn't mean there aren't things to spoil. This is a reimagining. Not the same exact story. He gave away information about a characters backstory and other things

Yes and the 3rd part
You best believe they'll milk you for every dollar
I can’t wait til they announce dlc characters
Will this game update when the new part comes out or do we have to drop another 60 for it
I don't know if this gets addressed later on in the game (currently in the middle of chapter 8)
I'm really not a fan of how items and healing spells are tied to both the atb meter and a regular magic count.
It feels more cumbersome than a fun challenge because I basically have to retreat and wait for one meter to charge and then use an expendable amount of mp points. Then have to use an atb to just use an ether when the regular magic count gets low for a character. I understand the charge of atb is tied to the speed stat. But not every character is geared toward that when your building them. Also the only other solution to charge atb faster (outside of specific one use materia) is to block. Yet you still take damage even when blocking. So if your low on health, trying to use any item or healing spell. Then you're forced to run away till even one bar gets filled. Only to be interrupted and killed cause things like cure and item use leaves you vulnerable. I really think items in this game should've taken a cue from kingdom hearts and have a set number of items be allowed per fight. However, still be usable even without atb. Because I understand it makes things far to easy if you could just keep popping items and having multiple characters in tactile mode use items from a singular item pool. OR at least have healing and a handful of support spells be useable without atb. Or have these above options only available on easy and normal. But keep things as is for classic. Because I don't have a problem with casting times and a chance of being killed while activating the animation for items. But having that combined with a system that uses two limited resources, at the same time, to even be usable. I'm sorry, your free to disagree, but I think this a bad design choice.
Yayaya..just play this game in hard mode ..this is about strategy game .. not animal crossing or whatever
@@danyr1236
which I never said it shouldn't be. Like the dude said, a lot of boss fights take a long time. Thus its more frustrating and kind of unfair. Especially when you have to wait longer or even start over an entire fight because you are trying to recover at low health. All to build up a chance to even use one item. Switching helps a little, but your inactive partners are still killable. And they aren't as good at blocking or evading attacks. So they'll probably still get killed and your gonna have to wait even longer to revive them. You can't even issue commands to inactive partners like "defend" or "avoid attacks" or "defend _" while your trying to recover their health or magic. So saying "just use strategy" isn't even an option half the time.
