I remember a friend of mine way back in 9th grade who didn’t like turn based combat said “man the story is cool...but just imagine if you can actually move around freely during combat and just fight instead of having to take turns and shit”....Ashton wherever you are...its been 20+ years but you finally got your wish lol.
Personally, i don't like turn based combat, but final fantasy is final fantasy, i'll still play it no matter what. The remake will make it more fun for sure.
i love turn based. it actually made me worry about this new version that it is gone. but that said, this game is so well put together! only slight issue i have is changing between characters. if you are in a hard battle it is to easy to double tap by accident and end up trying to use magic or special moves with the wrong character. but i know that as soon as im thoroughly accustomed to it that there will not be an issue anymore
i just hope it isnt a million years until the next installment comes out! i am definitely going to buy any and all installments they release. i cannot wait until i can see some of the later moments and how they do them. also, as far as final fantasy as a whole, i fell in love with the series in the very early 90's following the heros of the light through their quest. first rpg i ever played and never looked back!! and there isnt a single one i have not played and beaten several times over, the original ff7 being the most with 10 or more playthroughs. and I gaurentee that even though version is so solid that i will play the old version many more times throughout the course of my life, barring catastrophe. just based on nostalgia alone i keep being drawn back. and i still find things i missed on previous playthroughs!
@@akiinmoonlight79 its not a masterpiece its just the first 6 hours of the game strecht out to 36 hours so some of the game is yes super cool but the new shit is soo boring
Is a 60 dollar game that will only keep the story going on ps5 pc and the new xbox. If you have no plans on buying a ps5 and want to play the 2nd half you're screwed
Camera Tips: Set the Camera to zoom out during combat in the options. I set it to 3 and you don't get as much struggling with the camera. Set the switching lock on to the direction buttons so you can use the right thumbstick to move the camera and not switch targets.
@Matthew M no it's not - why are some people that stupid ??? do you even see the insane production value that was put into this game ? - breathtaking motion captured graphics - Iconic, deep reimagined characters - masterfully done voice acting - the GODLY Soundtrack !!! (♥️) - tight/fun/strategic/deep gameplay - some of the best writting ever - detailed world/character building - massive scope
@@korki3581 not not even close and is actually differant it's a remake with an re imagining which is kind of weird because i imagine for new players you will have 4x the confusion compared to people who played the original who will have 2x confusion at the end.
Tips for first play-through 1. Switch characters often in combat. AI party members are super defensive and build atb at a snails pace 2. Swap out materia after it's mastered. 3. If you don't auto upgrade weapons, always grab materia slots first 4. Don't be afraid to sacrifice defense for materia slots 5. Invest in MP/HP up materias, try to get 4 at least to level 2 6. Do the arena battles asap, I don't want to spoil what you get from it, but do it 7. Assess everything 8. Magnify is this game's "All" materia. I only found one so i used it for healing, slot it as soon as you find it because it's infinitely more useful at higher levels 9. You'll find a "pedometer" materia that has no discernible use, slot it immediately 10. Master skills quickly by setting the character you want as the leader, and spam the skill in battle.
And one surprising fact, Barret can make a pretty good Paladin type. One of his weapons has pretty decent magic, with magic up, hp/mp up, provoke, magnify-healing, and revive, he's a great defensive healer, which frees up Cloud and Tifa to focus on what they do best. Give Tifa or Cloud Item Up (I think) materia to back-up heal when necessary and to toss ethers at Barret.
My biggest problem is size of. Nearly 90 gigs of mem for a third of original game. They are splitting it into multiple games. I did not like the end fight for this. I know it is its own game but they did not fight Sephiroth on the way out of midgar. Few minor annoyances but those are some of my biggest complaints.
Camera is a common problem of 3D games. It's difficult to present a world in a realistic, wholesome manner and at the same time keep a pacing proper to what we should concentrate on.
Its not a remake, this is actually an alternate past timeline that the Sephiroth from the PS1 FF7 has come to after he was defeated by Cloud in Advent Children. The game deviates heavily after Shinra HQ at the end with the time janitors. Also because of this Biggs, Wedge and Jessie dont die.
I didn't pick up when it first came out because I was kind of turned off by the fact that this is only one-third of the full story of the game. I never played the original FF7 but I recently got interested in this game again and bought it for half the price. The game is genuinely good, the characters, the combat, the music and the graphics are amazing, I am having a blast. Definitely worth it :D
@@johncarldelossantos7345 You wont regret it. I finished the game a couple months ago and sold my copy, But I'm buying it again because of the sale. This time on digital so i wont ever sell it back. From what I remember, the game is amazing so you wont regret it. Its so good I'm buying it again.
@@GameoftheYear-fx4mq hahaha, I am currently playing it now. It's beautiful, cheesy and fun XD. Gameplay is intense but sometimes disorienting. Still good though. I'm loving it.
Oh and, fun fact: The Facial animation *CHANGES* depending on what language you use to keep the experience the same. Meaning for example, if you pick the Japanese VA, the facial animation changes. Now that's some detail that's rare in many games.
The only thing which sucks is that they didn't bother to make different Subtitles for different Languages. So you'll have the English Dub Subtitles for every language. Which sucks because there's some meaning in the other languages that isn't in the English Dub. But I'm fine with it. Though it kinda sucks if you compare it to Yakuza Like a Dragon.
@@jojipoji2322 Really? You enjoyed the harry potter demenotors? They turn 15 minute plot points into 3 hour ordeals and shovel mind numbingly awful fetch quests at you. How are so many people on board with this? You people are being fed a 10 hour section of the game that's been Frankensteined with contrived nonsense fluff and you're all eating it up, and eagerly awaiting the next 60 dollar retconned mess. Square is cashing in big time.
@@SimonHergott I somewhat agree with you but you take it way too far. The pacing in this game is well done and the added story elements add much more depth to the characters. I just wish I had a full story in one game. It's not the same as RPGs back in the day, but games take much longer to make now. Way more detail, not to mention recording all the voice acting. Whether or not Square is milking it for all it's worth is irrelevant to me because there is a lot of love being put into this remake. Even just having Nobuo return brings back so much of the original charm. That's not easy to capture but they did a fantastic job. Way more than I expected. Maybe it's not perfect but nothing ever is. The combat system is lots of fun as well and fully fleshed out. I'm only about 11 hours in but I hope I get a good amount of time to delve into it because it is remarkable. A million times better than FFXIII and FFXIV which felt so pointless to actually play.
@@SimonHergott Dude your just being nit picky and if I recall properly the original game had multiple disc you had to buy because it was so big at the time. So if you want to get real technical it's the same game with WAY MORE content and love put into it.
It's genuinely funny at points and the level of character development.... like they actually feel like real people. I'm really enjoying it so far my biggest fear is who knows when the next part comes out
Hmmmmm probably 2022. Thatll give them 3 years from nov 2019 and character models. Battle system. world build. Finding voice actors. Game engine Etc is already done in part 1 so not starting over from scratch really. Plus developing on ps5 will be faster too. Way faster its easier than ps4
@@lordsephiroth2029 they started work on part 2 before release of part 1, and the delay of part 1 was said to not have any effect on part 2's development, I'm expecting late 2021 to early 2022 release window myself. Chances are it will be simultanious ps4/ps5 release, I don't think platform is going to be a factor in the games release schedule. It's all developed and running on PC the console releases are essentially just ports of that core project. The PS5 is going to have more power behind it, so that will definitely mean more freedom and wiggle room with optimizations though.
I can’t believe I’m 34 and am old enough for a remake!!! This game changed my life as well as my friends !! I’m happy to see it still is having an influence today!!
When I was a kid, I used to constantly restart this game just so I could explore Midgar over and over again. I loved the part where they go to Barrett's bar and used to wish I was in that part of the city. And of course, Aerith's house was amazing too. I never found it, but I heard you could get a key that unlocks the gate to Midgar later in the game after you leave it. Amazing atmosphere.
Talk to a man outside #7 gate who mentions he dropped his key. Visit the foreman at Bone Village and say you're looking for Normal Treasure. Place your hired hands around the top area of the excavation site and set off the blast. They should all point to the Key To Sector 5.
This was a game I went into not thinking I’d have as much fun as I did. It’s like something you need in your life but just don’t realize it until you have it
I think this game has the same potential in the video game community as the World Cup in the soccer community, when it comes out, people are waiting on-line a couple of weeks before.
Couple years, most likely after 2021. They already have an asset library and character models ready to go for the most part so its gonna be quicker than the first part. Since during development they all had to learn unreal 4 and create assets from scratch.
I was looking for this comment, trying to confirm if they were releasing this game in parts or not, and you answered that. So. With that, i am not going to buy this game yet; i'm going to wait until all the parts are out. Don't care how long that tskes, but i personally think its rather evil to only do parts of a highly anticipated game, so..
I’m playing through it WAY too quick, and I honestly didn’t know it was coming in parts lmao. Even after doing all the side quests I’m trying to take breaks so it doesn’t have to end yet
Hey spoilers dude now I wonder what part two and three will be like it got really intense after the city of Marco (can't remember the name of the city) and I wonder how they are going to reintroduce some of the famous characters will they be part of the main story or side quests like the original
They have been working on part 2 for a while already and are using the same framework so it shouldn't take too long. My guess is we'll get Part 2 mid next year and it'll be released on the current and next gen consoles.
There’ll be a year in between each instalment max. Its probably nearly finished, but instead of releasing the whole thing, they just milk us £60 for each chapter
I’d say it’s worth it. They took the whole midgar portion from 1997 and turned it into a 30+ hour game on its own. Now imagine what’s left after midgar and my god.......
Walamonga 1313 exactly bro and this is what’s shitty! Yes I bought the game and yes it is amazing... but after years of waiting we get 30-40hrs if gameplay and only a small portion of the game... this makes me kinda mad and people hate on you for pointing that out.
@Scott Nunn Yeah, because all the stuff that take SE years to complete turns out good right? FFXV? Kingdom Hearts III? Who the hell knows what kind of world we're going to be in 2 or 3 years from now for people to really care.
@Scott Nunn Yeah, now add that up to however many parts there are. There's at least (as in minimum) gonna be 3. But it may take them 4 or 5, even more who knows...
The creators considered using the character models in Advent Children in this game but they thought they looked too dated. So they made brand new ones.
@@Wolfknight16 They couldnt anyway because the poly count of those models are 10x higher than game res models. Either way making it from scratch in zbrush would be the way to go.
I’m loving every moment , I’m about 10 hours in and the fights are challenging. Great review here , I just don’t think these clips showcase the graphics enough .
That's the thing with games. I believe that you don't truly get the feeling of that experience until it is on your screen and you have that controller and the ability to experience it. Years ago, I remember seeing Advent Children and thinking "wow it would be awesome to play final fantasy VII looking like this!". Now it's finally here. It actually looks better!. But you have all the locations that look almost exactly the same, like the church with the flower bed.
I think they were probably a bit limited by trying to avoid any major spoilers or anything and I'm guessing that is where a lot of the neater stuff is. I know this is a remake but its a remake of a 23 year old game, for some people its going to be their first time :)
@@Mandrake42 such as myself. I know of the legacy surrounding it and the characters. was first exposed to them through Kingdom Hearts, then Advent Children. But other than the bare bones spoilers, I went in blind without playing the original. I'm almost finished and so far having a blast playing this remake. What they have done is amazing.
Bought it and haven't been disappointed with it so far. I was worried that the fillers would feel off or superflous but they are actually great. They add more to the characters and really connect with them so well. Hats off the SQEX as they made a game with heart and passion.
I was tempted but the music didn’t grab me. How will part 2 carry on a save if it’s in a different system? I’ll get it but I don’t know. I was looking forward to Shenmue 3 still haven’t got it yet. Too many corridors. It was never be as good as in my head.
@@mrmagoo-i2l to each his own I guess. The music for me was mixed but great all the same. Mixed in a sense of I know it's classic but at the same time they've remade it to fit the remade world if that makes sense. Almost every piece of music in the game is recognizable and it's been done really well. Obviously it wouldn't carry over into other systems as with any other game. They've also said that your levels and probably gear won't carry over to a degree as each entry is considered a game of their own. Also people don't recognize but the entire first act of FF7 on the PS1 was also very linear. Everything goes straight with very little backtracking. I don't know why people say that the FF7 remake is so linear unlike the original when they are basically the same. The only time the original opens up is when you finally leave Midgar. I'm a big fan of Shenmue but I haven't played the 3rd one.
@a b so almost every major game publisher? Because almost all of them have been doing this. It's just a matter of which you want to spend your money with.
Let’s be real, if they did this as the full story it would feel rushed and half assed. I agree with him that it does feel like a full game and tbh I can’t wait for part 2 to come out
I think its good. Look at the Mass Effect Series! A game series could have a huge overarching story withing 2-3 games. And I hope this series does that.
I was so pissed at the idea of there being 3 separate games for awhile but as time progressed, the idea of having a fully fleshed out Midgar for the first game and id assume fully fleshed out sections out of Midgar made sense. Now playing it for about 10 hours, I'm loving this game so far. Story is great, combat is smooth, areas look beautiful, and the weapon/materia progression is nice. I just wish you can control the other characters outside of combat.
Two years late to the party but what a party it was. Totally loved the game and frankly I am glad they split it in three parts because that definitely means more playtime for me as there is no way they would expand it so much if they had to fit it in only one game. I am in love with the combat system and even after finishing it there are so many things I haven't really used in battle so I am looking forward to trying out the hard mode which will push me to play smarter. The game generally forces you to think otherwise you die. In the beginning I used to just attack without caring to block at all and it worked fine mostly, and then reno walked in and paid the price for slacking off. I was killed by the dude so many times its embarrassing really. The story is unbelievably compelling. I have no nostalgia since never played enough of the original so I knew only the basics but still, you dont need nostalgia to like this story, it's so well written I would be excited every time a cut scene started like I was watching my favorite series. Too bad I didn't have popcorn. Music is amazing. I didnt mind doing any of the side quests and part of the reason was I really wanted to explore the towns and walk around and listen to the npcs while a beautiful score played in the background. My favorite was by far the sector 5 theme. Just beautiful. Overall, I had wanted to play this game for roughly 5 years, ever since I saw one of the early trailers so I was afraid i was going to be disappointed because of my own extremely high expectations. I am happy to say it was worth it. Oh, and it runs beautifully on the ps5. Can't wait for the second instalment.
The changes to the story is a bold choice on the writer's part. The "remake" aspect of this game may carry an in-universe connotation that was totally lost on us before the game came out, ensuring canonicity for both versions. I don't know why they keep putting Tetsuya Nomura in the driver's seat with FF7 titles over the guy who directed 7, Nomura's input was just art design in the original. The original director only had a producer role this time round.
@@BrandydocMeriabuck I second it should have been Kitase. He's one of of the all time great directors. But sadly, Tetsuya's celebrity status won him the role of director.
@@BrandydocMeriabuck This is my main gripe with Nomura as well. I can appreciate what he does in terms of game system directions but he should leave the writing aspects to others.
Kitase specifically wanted Nomura to be the director. I think he felt a lot of pressure from the FFXV and just gave Nomura all control this time around
I hated it wasn’t the full game starting off but now that I’ve played it through I can say that it was so worth it. It adds so much to the story and oh the feels so many feels.
I just finished this game and really want part 2 now. I waited to buy this until a sale just because I have never played a Final Fantasy game to the end. I always knew this was a classic so wanted to make it the first one I finish. Some how I managed to not have the story spoiled for me and very glad for that.
I really like this game in many ways. However Im kind of dissapointed in the episodic release. Not because I dont understand the reasoning behind it but more because my favorite parts of these types of games are when u get to go out on the adventure in the larger world.
I just dont see how it can only be 3 episodes if the expand everything else as much as they did midgar. I also pray that they at least let you carry all your equipment over but i fear it may be like the ff13 series where you start over
In some ways the original was episodic. There were some pretty clear cuts there as far as story goes. I am interested in how they manage the open world parts but getting to some cities without story progression is not unlike the original.
This is one of the reasons I bought a PS1 back in the day. I’m still playing but I love to see reviews even though I already have it. Your not the only one going crazy Jake! Lol!
@@buttscarlton8925 Source on that one? I love the game, it's really good but I don't remember hearing that. What I'd like to see is a free upgrade to PS5 for those who bought the game.
@@buttscarlton8925 he shouldn't buy it. There is absolutely no reason for them to not have made the full game. The real game us probably 5 to 7 hours long. The rest of the game is inflated. The data size is forty something gigs. This was a cash grab. An awful cash grab.
@@davidmuller6011 what's a lie? The only thing I got wrong was the amount of data. I guess I was looking at the initial install. It said 40 gigs. I guess that was compressed, because the storage says eighty something gigs. This game has so much forced and unnecessary dialogue. You can have a cut scene walk ten meters and climb a latter and you will have another forty five second dialogue/cutscene. When travelling with aerith the game forces you to walk you can run. This games actual run time is more like eight hours. It's worse than borderlands 3 forced dialogue and follow the NPC shit.
I’ve seen other reviewers say that theirs a LOT of filler content. Which is why I’m either waiting for a Complete Edition or for each part to go on sale for $20 each. I’m not paying $60 for ONE part of a game. Plus...who knows when part 2 is coming out. Games take YEARS to make. Theirs no rush for me to get this right away...I can wait...
Daryl Dixon I never played the original final fantasy but I do enjoy games that are fully done and full price. So from what you said it’s worth it due to the time you put in?? I only played ff15 that’s it, so this is all new except buy games, I remember halo 2 days when dlc were 5$ man I miss the old times
I feel the same, i tryed to play the og again since that was my favourite ff but instead i ended up with the remake again for the 5th time. Can t wait to start it again with intergrade and no save data
I was skeptical about the first game only being Midgar, but after finishing it a few hours ago? This is everything I wanted and more. I am so blown away with this game that I can't even believe it. I had high expectations and it shattered them. Especially in the later half. Yeah, don't lie to yourself... You screamed too XD I think they did a fantastic job with the first installment and now I can't wait for the rest of the remake of my favorite game *inhales* OF ALL TIME! Also, Dem graphics doe!
@@Sam-sn8oy I didn't scream. The game was OK. It dragged. The end was silly as fuck. Beat it and you'll see. They are setting this shit up to milk you like they did with kingdom hearts.
I agree this game blew my expectations out of the water. The music gameplay and story are great. Its like playing OG ff7 with better character development and advent children graphics.
The main thing you should know before you buy: this is a remake for 95% of the game. And (mostly) a damn good one. Then you get to the ending. I won't spoil anything here, but BE WARNED that in that last 5% this game shows its true face: IT IS NOT A REMAKE, but a soft reboot/sequel which HEAVILY alters the original plot, especially what's to come. And no, I'm not talking about small nitpicky stuff, I'm talking about Nomura-esques levels of fuckup. Square promised for years a faithful remake. This. Is. Not. They just straight up lied to everybody to sell more copies. If you're cool with that, go ahead and buy it, it's technically a good game. But not a remake.
Completely agree. I'm still pissed about that ending. I was having a blast until I got into Hojo's facility when things started feeling off. By the time we hit the roof, I was upset, and by the time we finished the bike chased I was fed up. That last act was bullshit.
That ending annoyed me as well. Up until that I really enjoyed the game. It is brilliant until that last 30-60 mins where they made it clear we're not getting the same story. It'll be interesting to see if/how they respond to people's feedback.
Have you also noticed that the facial animations for some of the non-essential npcs (think sidequests) seem a bit off? I couldn't help but notice in some dialogue cutscenes.
Yeah it's weird. The NPCs and some random things are incredibly low res too. Like doors...in the middle of a beautifully rendered scene...a door will look like the original Resident Evil door from PS1. Super weird but the game is still awesome.
The movements are also intentionally coarse, as I imagine it does try to follow based on language. This concept isn't extreme - the materia and even materia links in cutscenes changes based on what you have equipped.
Shane Fowler mine was an Easter gift from my grandmother. And I’m starting the remake today, on Easter for that reason. That and I took tonight off of work 😂
Brad Reed awesome dude do me a favor & order some of your favorite food & vibe out man. Same thing happened to me 3-4 weeks ago when call of duty modern warfare 2 remastered came out. I vividly remember my mom taking me to gamestop on December 24 2009 & waiting in line. Now 12 years later I’m buying it myself it felt weird
I actually didn't see any of those low res textures during my gameplay... everything loaded and rendered perfectly. Weird. The game is amazing and I found it flawless - coming from a long time fan of the FF7 world. Really appreciated how much detail and love that went into this project from Square Enix.
The rendering is more problematic if you constantly run everywhere (like when I was just running through chapters 3,8, and 9 to get the "Dressed to the nines' trophy. But just normally playing the game doesn't effect the rendering too much. Most of the lower res objects are active objects so I'm not too bothered by them, better that then having a 20FPS framerate from the engine having to constantly render.
I'm absolutely loving it. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Honeybee Inn scene. Can't believe Square Enix could pull that off. Kudos Square Enix!!!♥️♥️♥️

Just finished the game, and I love it. I literally bought the Kingdom Hearts bundle because I heard Aerith is in there and KH3 has something to do with Noctis. So yeah I’m going to try out XV even though I heard it’s bad.
10 hours into this game and so far I love it. Like the new story add ons and the changes made from the OG. Leveling, weapon and materia progression is smooth and works super well. Combat has been exciting and I love the amount of flexibility you have as a player in how you want to play. The game has been easy for the most part (on normal) but the boss battles have been the most challenging. I was on the fence about there being 3 games but at the end this decision works out well. We finally get to explore more of Midgar, which is amazing considering that Midgar is such an iconic part about the OG FF7. Definitely worth the 60 bucks. Can't say the same for RE3 Remake.
@@The-Azure-Knight "- And you...you're wrong! - Those who look with clouded eyes see nothing but shadows. - Everything about you is wrong!!" All of that is just offensively bad.
Anna did a Thingy These remakes remind me of the RE Remakes! This one seems to appeal to a lot of people kinda like RE2 Remake, but some people complained about the over the shoulder gameplay. Now we have FF7 Remake which ditches the turn based gameplay(thank GOD!) and brings a faster action gameplay that’s even better than FF15 and faster fast travel?! Turn based games are good and I played a number of them, but sometimes you just want to hack through enemies to progress! This game gives you that! It strangely reminds you of RE2 Remake, because it gives fans what they want while compensating for an old gameplay style. However RE3 Remake came out recently and was more like the original, except some content was cut,and ideas were thrown out the window, for a short ,but sweet experience! People were very disappointed with it,because it didn’t fully live up to the RE2 Remake! RE3 originally wasn’t the better game, which made Capcom think that a remake for it had little value,so they kinda ditched the effort ,and made a lot of people disappointed, which is a shame! There are RE games still to remake and make better ,and possibly they may end up redoing RE3 Remake as a result, but boy what a shame! Square Enix however, knows how much people love FF7,so they’ll probably continue the next two games strong!
My first Final Fantasy game was FFX-2 on PS2 a looong time ago, playing as Yuna and that game was amazing, made me cry at times. Final Fantasy VII Remake is my second Final Fantasy game and I can tell you it is AMAZING. I'm over 70 hours in and I am having lots of fun, doing some side missions, listening to the sweet soundtrack & being surprised at the awesome level of graphics quality present in this game. If you love RPGS, a very well written story, good character development & good combat then you owe yourself to play this game
I feel like you guys really failed to acknowledge the other *major* elephant in the room: This isn't a faithful remake. They're telling a different story to what was in the original FFVII. For anyone expecting this game to be FFVII but "updated", it's not. It's in a completely different continuation with a significantly different story.
Max M I might have missed something... where did it significantly differ? i mean the ending might be but I feel like this can be interpreted differently in the next part than what people now think
@@bingobongo1615 lol really? they are setting it up for almost another history, they "changed the timeline" you know becausea thats whats "popular" these days, they even show Zack didn´t die, i can go on and on about the things they fucked up and changed
Well this is a *reimagining* not a remake I think a remake needs to keep the same story as its original and just adds extra content. One good example of an excellent remake is *Resident Evil 1* it stays true to its original and adds the extra content which is Lisa Trevor's origins.
@@ezunino1711 what the hell are you talking about? The parts with Zack was a flashback of when he died. He's even carrying Cloud at the end as he fades away. The whispers were covering Midgar because they weren't going to let him enter since he had to die to keep destiny intact. Him dying = Cloud's journey
Technically a cashgrab too. They did that one cutscene for e3 a long time ago and only midgar was released. They could have done the whole original game
I agree with it being a parted series. Shows they will give each piece of the story some expansive love. I think they have been very clear on why they segmented it. But even if they weren’t, the quality makes sense. You don’t want to cram good quality into a set amount of memory. Can’t wait to play my copy.
And what if it's 5 parts long or something? Not gonna lie, that could really hurt my wallet if each part costs $60, making like,$300 for the whole game. (I'd probably still be a sucker and buy them though)
When every episodic part for ff7 remake comes out I will buy it in a heartbeat, but I'm relieved to hear everyone enjoying it and that's it's worth the price of admission
That will be several years, i have been waiting near 20 for anything and am happy with it. A full collectors set would have to sell for $500+ easily when they are done but you probably would get a 6" buster for the trouble.
Clouds standard reaction to normal sentences : "huh" "uh" "hmpf" sometimes all together. To the most basic things....example sentence :"cloud, would you like to come in?" "huh? Uh hmpf... OK"
Man I remember back then when the first version came out. I was excited to see all the ingame 3d looking character made out of boxes 🤣. It's incredible how graphics have evolved.
so i just finished the first reactor. the boss was a huge pain in the dick before i got a hang of the new battle system, but holy hell is this game great. cloud is what i would imagine him to be from my very first run through in 97, barret drips badassery, biggs and jessie are wonderful, jessie has always been my favorite ff7 female, and this game doesnt change that. wedge though. as soon as i heard him start talking and realized he is voiced by the guy who plays badger in breaking bad... holy shit. his awesomeness has skyrocketed based solely in that. and biggs and wedge have always been favorites just based on how many ff games they have appeared in, but this put wedge over the top for me. the camera has been a pain in the ass already, but i can definitely get passed it easily. but its so good imo that i had to stop playing to come rave about it! BUY THIS GAME!!!
It was fine up until the end when they turned Sephiroth into Dr. Who, which basically gives them free reign to deviate from the original as much as they want in future episodes, and leaves me a bit skeptical on the route they're going to take with that.
I expected a more fleshed out 7 and they gave us that....until the end. Uuuugh, I wont be buying into a completely different story made up by kingdom hearts dude....screw that
I'm a lifelong fan. I even pre-ordered Advent children. Since the 2005 tech demo this is what I've dreamed of. I thought if they could take kingdom hearts combat and put it in the ff7 world it would be amazing. Having Jessie Biggs and wedge have an integral role was amazing. I give it nine out of 10 just because 10 is hard as fukk to get. Last thought, Jessie is amazing and I love her. 👌
Been playing since release off and on and I absolutely love it. Ff7 is my favorite game ever and now this is my new favorite game ever. I hear the few gripes people have but I haven't noticed them too bad. Haven't had issues with camera at all. Textures popping in and put never bothered me so I dont even notice when they do. My one issue is with a few backdrops and parts of the environment that aren't great. Like aerith and her flowers in here garden looked so bad like real bad and I never get upset about that stuff either. Kinda looks like they ran out of time to make it all look perfect. Or maybe there wasn't enough umph in the ps4 to get it all in. Its minor anyway. The music, the characters and each area of midgar is absolutely perfect. They really brought midgar to life. Walking in 7th heaven or Aeriths house man just gave me goosebumps and made me wanna tear up. The music is perfect cloud is perfect jessie biggs wedge they're all perfect. I love this game and cant wait for the next ones
This is game genuinely made me appreciate the support tower sequence and the characters with it a lot more then the original game. The character development and overall feel of each and every one of them just really touches your heart. You tend to grow more attached to them the more you play.
@@ragingflare123 I beat it in 20 hours and honestly I don't care to replay it there aren't any hidden bosses like I wish they let you fight like ruby weapon or something idk if the ultimate weapons are in the game but considering once you beat it you get like X3 xp I don't see a point other than leveling to keep playing sorry thats my opinion
This is what I like about RUclips. I can watch the game and then decide for myself whether or not I'd like to buy it. Personally, I didn't like the game even though I am a huge fan of the original game. Glad I had the chance to see it before shelling out all the extra bucks. Thanks for the review.
I’ve been playing for a good 10 hours straight now, had to take a break, it’s worth it, there’s some technical difficulties I’m sure can be fixed with a patch but other than that it’s been great
It is ridiculous these days to find a true review... when u hear ppl say it is greqt, it is often average. Need to look for high level evaluations to even grt an honest review on a great game. Everyone is a sellout and cant be honest
I have a few major gripes with the battle system: 1) If you use any action with the ATB gauge and are hit during the process, even before the animation for using a potion starts for example, it still takes away your ATB gauge but you don’t complete the action. 2) Some of the hit stun in this game is completely ridiculous, you might as well put your controller down until the enemy finishes their combo because you’ll have no chance to parry or evade out of it. 3) Sleep is completely op against your party if you do not sacrifice your entire accessory slot for an item that makes you immune to it, a simple system where you build up a slight resistance for that one battle if it’s used on a character multiple times would balance it out a bit. 4) Evading attacks can be a major pain in the ass purely because of how hard the spells and directions of enemy attacks lock onto and follow your character, forcing you to block some of the bigger hits and take a ton of extra damage. Still really enjoying the game but these issues stuck out a lot during my play through.
1) I with your number 1 completely, that is dumb annoying, to fix it they just have to make it where you don't lose the ATB gauge until the move executes. The problem with that is you can't start building ATB until the move is used if you have 2 bars which makes you unable to act quicker which is the point of the new combat. 2) I also somewhat agree with your number 2 as well but such a problem only really applies in segments where Cloud may be alone or when multiple enemies use the same attack often, which isnt often. 3) refer to 2 but also buy the appropriate items, or ensure you have esuna. available and dodge the attacks. even with multiple enemies there is usually a huge tell and message prompt from the attack. Act accordingly and its really not a problem. 4) I completely disagree, Not every attack is meant to be dodged, sometimes its about where you are when the attack goes of and sometimes its meant to force you to block. an example of this is the Shiva fight, she has a move called Whiteout that can't be blocked from the front and is extremely hard to dodge correctly from the front as well. It sets you up for devastating damage if you are hit, but if you stick close to here and walk behind her you can avoid the attack altogether with out the need to block or dodge. Thats how some things are meant to be to force you to be tactical and not try to do one thing the entire game to negate incoming damage. this is just my opinion but I respect yours as well.
I can't help with your other issues, because i personally don't have a problem with them. set "binding materia" on your character's wrist. Gives you resistance to sleep, silence and beserk. The higher you grow the materia the larger your resistance. and you don't need to "waste" an accessory slot. Check the stats on materia, most of the non elemental materia give you some sort of resistance. If you combine that by putting the "binding" materia on someone who has "Healing Materia" equipped, the will likely not get sleep and can also wake the other characters.

Set the Camera to zoom out during combat in the options. I set it to 3 and you don't get as much struggling with the camera.
Set the switching lock on to the direction buttons so you can use the right thumbstick to move the camera and not switch targets.

@@korki3581 not not even close and is actually differant it's a remake with an re imagining which is kind of weird because i imagine for new players you will have 4x the confusion compared to people who played the original who will have 2x confusion at the end.
Korki nope part one it’s not a full remake
Tips for first play-through
1. Switch characters often in combat. AI party members are super defensive and build atb at a snails pace
2. Swap out materia after it's mastered.
3. If you don't auto upgrade weapons, always grab materia slots first
4. Don't be afraid to sacrifice defense for materia slots
5. Invest in MP/HP up materias, try to get 4 at least to level 2
6. Do the arena battles asap, I don't want to spoil what you get from it, but do it
7. Assess everything
8. Magnify is this game's "All" materia. I only found one so i used it for healing, slot it as soon as you find it because it's infinitely more useful at higher levels
9. You'll find a "pedometer" materia that has no discernible use, slot it immediately
Another tip: Use the walkthrough for materia/weapons. I missed the elemental materia first time around and it sucked not having it for chapters 4-16
Why should I assess everything?
the pedometer always lets you know when there is stranger danger lurking 😂😂
Why is HP/MP up so important?
Bought the game and I'm 15 hours about halfway through the game and the game is great. I recommend it to all, new or returning ff players.
I just finished the original and I'm getting the remake tomorrow in really hyped for it
My biggest problem is size of. Nearly 90 gigs of mem for a third of original game. They are splitting it into multiple games. I did not like the end fight for this. I know it is its own game but they did not fight Sephiroth on the way out of midgar. Few minor annoyances but those are some of my biggest complaints.

@@SimonHergott shut up
@@SimonHergott I somewhat agree with you but you take it way too far.

I never found it, but I heard you could get a key that unlocks the gate to Midgar later in the game after you leave it. Amazing atmosphere.

I think this game has the same potential in the video game community as the World Cup in the soccer community, when it comes out, people are waiting on-line a couple of weeks before.
The real question is when is the 2nd part going to release
Couple years, most likely after 2021. They already have an asset library and character models ready to go for the most part so its gonna be quicker than the first part. Since during development they all had to learn unreal 4 and create assets from scratch.
They said it was mentioned in the credits.

@@Astraeus.. I mean, the og was split off into 3 disks, I figure the remake being split into 3 games would make sense.

There’ll be a year in between each instalment max. Its probably nearly finished, but instead of releasing the whole thing, they just milk us £60 for each chapter
F that, I'm more worried about how many installments there'll be. Maybe more than 3 discs...

Bought it and haven't been disappointed with it so far. I was worried that the fillers would feel off or superflous but they are actually great. They add more to the characters and really connect with them so well. Hats off the SQEX as they made a game with heart and passion.
Come on chrono trigger
Ewwww the fillers suck so much...some of it is alright, but most of it is so bad it's embarassing
@a b so almost every major game publisher? Because almost all of them have been doing this. It's just a matter of which you want to spend your money with.
Let’s be real, if they did this as the full story it would feel rushed and half assed. I agree with him that it does feel like a full game and tbh I can’t wait for part 2 to come out
I can confidently say that this is indeed a full game with lots of content
I think its good. Look at the Mass Effect Series! A game series could have a huge overarching story withing 2-3 games. And I hope this series does that.
I’m glad I didn’t get it after hearing how Nomura went full Nomura
LOL @ people who were expecting a 6-8 BluRay disc collection for $60.
I like the popcorn thing, can you make some for me ? I'm starving.

Kitase should’ve got the job. Nomura’s writing is convoluted nonsense. As much as I love Kingdom Hearts, the Storytelling is absolutely shite.
@@BrandydocMeriabuck I second it should have been Kitase. He's one of of the all time great directors. But sadly, Tetsuya's celebrity status won him the role of director.
@@BrandydocMeriabuck yeah and he is bringing that shit to the "remake"
But every episode will be for 60€ or how it will work? i m so confused
@@TheArnau13 Yep, standalone games. Maybe they'll pick up your save data in some way. But expect to pay $180 if you wanna play all 3 as they come out.
@@cucumbra True and I dont mind it since I think each game/episode gives you a full- game experience. Judging from this first one at least.

I agree this game blew my expectations out of the water. The music gameplay and story are great. Its like playing OG ff7 with better character development and advent children graphics.
Have you guys played Marvel Spiderman ? I was waiting for that game forever.

Shane Fowler same bro
I’m assuming you’re a fellow Canadian?
I have the original game on PSP. Y'all can hate me but I had an N64 instead of a PS1. But what got me started on FF7 is Crisis Core
Man, I would love a remake in this style of the classic Suikoden 2
I'm absolutely loving it.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Honeybee Inn scene. Can't believe Square Enix could pull that off. Kudos Square Enix!!!♥️♥️♥️

RE3 originally wasn’t the better game, which made Capcom think that a remake for it
had little value,so they kinda ditched the effort ,and made a lot of people disappointed, which is a shame! There are RE games still to remake and make better ,and possibly they may end up redoing RE3 Remake as a result, but boy what a shame! Square Enix however, knows how much people love FF7,so they’ll probably continue the next two games strong!

It was fine up until the end when they turned Sephiroth into Dr. Who, which basically gives them free reign to deviate from the original as much as they want in future episodes, and leaves me a bit skeptical on the route they're going to take with that.
Remake not remaster is what pops into my mind.
I give it nine out of 10 just because 10 is hard as fukk to get. Last thought, Jessie is amazing and I love her. 👌

This is what I like about RUclips. I can watch the game and then decide for myself whether or not I'd like to buy it. Personally, I didn't like the game even though I am a huge fan of the original game. Glad I had the chance to see it before shelling out all the extra bucks.
Thanks for the review.
The title should be “Final fantasy VII - buy”
For me it was "Final Fantasy VII Remake, preorder the deluxe edition"
Nah, not touching anything where Nomura is writing the story
Aaron Wright Nojima (the writer of the original) is writing the story.
@heeey eeey I liked Crisis Core and Advent Children though, so fillers really aren't gonna hurt me much
Exactly lol
I’ve been playing for a good 10 hours straight now, had to take a break, it’s worth it, there’s some technical difficulties I’m sure can be fixed with a patch but other than that it’s been great
It is ridiculous these days to find a true review... when u hear ppl say it is greqt, it is often average. Need to look for high level evaluations to even grt an honest review on a great game. Everyone is a sellout and cant be honest
I have a few major gripes with the battle system:
1) If you use any action with the ATB gauge and are hit during the process, even before the animation for using a potion starts for example, it still takes away your ATB gauge but you don’t complete the action.
Sound like Learn to Play Issues
I can't help with your other issues, because i personally don't have a problem with them.
set "binding materia" on your character's wrist. Gives you resistance to sleep, silence and beserk. The higher you grow the materia the larger your resistance. and you don't need to "waste" an accessory slot. Check the stats on materia, most of the non elemental materia give you some sort of resistance.
If you combine that by putting the "binding" materia on someone who has "Healing Materia" equipped, the will likely not get sleep and can also wake the other characters.
You need to pay attention on enemy skills (red font) so that you know if you need to block or dodge if it's an AoE.
Tip: Git Gud!
I totally missed the boat on this back in the day but holy moly this remake looks incredible; this is my christmas veg game
