Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning in - hope you're all safe these rough few weeks. Just a quick correction - I say "ATP" a few times when I meant to say ATB. Also, you may have noticed a new icon on the thumbnail - those will now be in place for my new videos so that you know it's from me at a glance! Anyway - hope you enjoyed the video! I'm now turning my attention to April's big documentary project, if you want to catch it early, you can become a Patron at: www.patreon.com/nick930. Your support helps me put these larger projects together and you'll even get some cool behind the scenes info, private discord access, and shout-outs too!
There's another point of correction. Hitting a staggered enemy doesn't increase the damage being dealt, there are special attacks that do that. Your damage against a staggered enemy is set at a flat 160% unless you use attacks like Aerith's Ray of Judgement.
@@gravwellx5044 I noticed with several bosses that repeated attacks were increasing the percentage while they were staggered - making seemingly impossible bosses suddenly easier and easier each time I staggered them. Perhaps I had the ray of judgement down while I was doing that? Now I can't remember
You also call it new, it isn't new. ATB was a integral part of the original. Also while Whispers as an enemy are new to VII, they aren't new. They were i n IV, VI, and VIII. So they aren't a new concept, simply a reusing of something already known to the FF universe. Overall I do like the remake. It was well worth the wait. However I do have two major grievances; First I'm not ok with the different "fate" of certain characters. I'm sorry but that really kind of trivialized that whole thing a bit. Also by doing that and through dialog they really implied that the death count may not have been all that high due to Avalanche's efforts. While I get that they are trying to make them not come off as villian's, they take some of the impact of the plate collapse tragedy away. The second thing I particularly disliked was that maxing a materia doesn't spawn another. This to me was a critical part of what made the materia system so unique and enjoyable. The new method just feels like the devs arbitrarily saying "We don't want to reward those willing to grind materia with a more powerful party". Again this isn't deal breaking for me, but I still don't like it as it makes it near impossible to build your materia build out in a way you want.

peterkray things can only look so real tho. There’ll be a point where there can be no more innovation. Then people would go back to stylization of reality
@@huskytzu7709 Once ingame graphics will be indistinguishable from prerendered CGI cutscenes then we will be at point when there will be no innovation in terms of graphics. We are getting closer though. However even then there can always be improvements made in terms of physics, interaction with enviroment,AI etc.
When the movie (Advent Children) came out in 2005, I was thinking "What if the original game had the movie's graphics...." Square 2020 - "Mission accomplished."
I used to think this about video game cinematics, trailers, and adjacent content all the time. I'd be blown away by the animation and wonder what it'd be like to play with those graphics. It's almost hard to believe we've actually reached that point.
My father played the original when he was a teen. So he recommended me the original and I played it. So both me and my dad were so hype for the remake. Like father like son.
How nice is that. My brothers son is now almost of an age to do the same. He is already a gamer so hope he will pick this one up too thst would be so cool
This guy gets it. Keep hearing people complain about the cost of consoles and titles as if things were going to stay 16bit price range... while demanding more and that it be top quality. smh cannot be serious.
PetarBlade Štrok In context of the scene, it’s just as likely that Jesse was remarking on the surprise fallout of the reactor bombing with no implication of someone else being involved. As the original game doesn’t explore at all whether Shinra was involved, it’s simply a matter of opinion by the individual playing the game as nothing is confirmed in-story. EDIT: I’ve just tried to find the moment where Jesse says anything like that and I can’t find such a statement from her at all. When exactly does she say anything about this?
You know what I haven't played the original on years. But this is pretty cool if that was the intent all along for those scenes. This game has added so much.
@@Damon242 this is exactly why I prefer the old game. There was room left for imagination and interpretation and not just in the case of Jessies bomb. The remake however throws all that out the window.
BS. The first game had a way better aesthetic and art style. Now they all walk like girls and Tifa looks asian with a 40 year old woman's voice. Barrett was made into a complete joke and nobody takes him seriously, when he should command respect. Midgar looks like a modern day city from Japan with sunlight???. the main characters look like they're from another planet from the bland boring npcs who wear clothing from the real world instead of that cool 90's steampunk gritty look they used to have. You can't even click on them anymore because all the RPG UI and elements have been stripped from the game to make it look and play like a bethesda game.
@@Sothpawman well it is made by the Japanese................. You can always stick with the original game and not buy the new one either. No one is going to care
lol, I just started playing the original for the first time, and the dialogue there is confusing. Cloud says, "Barret! Be careful! Attack when its tail's up! It's gonna counterattack with its laser!" The lines appear one at a time. The second line alone made it seem like I was supposed to attack and the third line appeared too late, and I got lasered twice, haha.
This is just above and beyond anything I could have ever dreamed up when I was wishing and hoping for a FFVII remake. I had FFX style gaming in mind, and that would have blown me away. But this is just unimaginably gorgeous... this will forever be my most cherished FF game/experience and I was just 10-12 when I first played and completed this game across 1997-2001
Honestly if it was like FFX combat it would have been better imo and borderline perfection imo. As it stands they tried to go for something like 13 with staggers and something like 15 and 12 with the pause menu to issue menu commands. It's trying to be too much at once and as such while it's still good I feel like 10 or 13/13-2 are both better. All three styles are really good though but i just feel like this is the weakest one
I kind of wish we did get to see Avalanches basement hideout at least once and Barret when he’s hitting the boxing bag and later sends Biggs into the air. But it does make sense I suppose seeing how he has a gun for an arm but they could’ve done something.
DTRE Sizzurrup yep I agree, there’s a lot I wish they stayed true to the game. I’m all for adding new stuff but those kinda seemed different than what would happen in the OG game. Biggest issue I wish they kept certain characters dead, I suppose the remake is a alternate universe than the original so the staying true part isn’t all that true. OG game for sure had more nostalgia.
@@MonkFalcon Really though, truly yo! Seems to be so true with utter veracity, that the Final Fantasy VII Remake is in fact an Alteration, as I and I have previously mentioned in another similar video consisting of playthrough of the new release. However, the original version simply requires an enhanced advancement, rather than an altered rendition, if that makes any sense. I and I shall leave my comment at that for now, due to the fact that I am still ambitious to fulfill the legacy with righteous replication! So, here are my prime examples, in addition to a previous commentator within this thread mentioning Barrett's basement hideout and even literally punching Wedge airborne, very mischievously comicial and with humor, I and I must add!.. My main focus of optimistically prime concern has to be the exact scene we are referring to, if not chronologically similar, located in the sector 7 slums with the reminiscent soundtrack, where Avalanche rendezvous' at 7th Heaven. The iconic embroidery only noticable to the observant displays a neon textured sign up above on the roof that I choose to keep in anonymity only for us all to revisit once again via watching someone else's playthrough or ultimately re-experiencing by playing the original version (Yes, why not!?) @@cognitivedissident2881 Except it's a reboot disguised as a remake, and it gets away with it because of people like you who can't tell the difference.
Not really it took like 8 years to get 6 percent of game and 11 percent filler. Its going to be milked and i bet it wont stick true to the story. Its a remake not a reboot
The change I least liked was Sephiroth’s introduction. It was so soon and suspenseless. I loved how in the first one you were captured, just to escape and find everyone in the building slayed to death, including the man who, until that point, one thought was the main villian. It gave a huge impression of the power of something bigger yet to come. That moment was the most memorable for me, and in the remake the equivalent of that scene is very rushed, like: JENOVA is here at Shinra’s.. Really?
Yes, yes you did it. You said what I couldn’t. Sephiroth was a Tiran of death. The mystery of when and where he would show was everything that drove you on to defeat him! Damn. He came too soon.
scopes777 same for me man. It has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the game. The whole game Shinra is the big bad, but the final boss is Sepheroth and the forces of destiny? I felt like I wasted 60 hours loving a game only to be disappointed at the end.
My first thought when I saw those whispers in that scene was wondering if I was suddenly playing Harry Potter, as well. LOL I kept calling them Dementors ever since.
I also thought they were dementors. Did JK Rowling invent dementors or were they based on mythological creatures like the goblins, werewolves, hippogriffs, merpeople, centaurs and other fantastic beasts?
I’m just over 27hrs in and I’m loving every second of this game. You can tell they really took a lot of care in crafting the environments and expounding on each character. I will say this, even as frustrating as some of the battles are they don’t make you want to give up. I find myself wanting to get right back into the action as soon as I die. It’ll be interesting to see if the next installment will be as good.
Apart from the sector 5 slums, looking down on the slums from the plates, and the door to stargazer heights XD but if you're playing on ps5 you wouldn't have noticed that I guess lol 😆
Also when playing on hard you can't use items which has a snowball effect...you can't just spam tier 3 spells in every encounter. Gets very frustrating sometimes when u need to conserve mp for the bosses but wasting it on the "normal" enemies (some of which are like mini bosses on hard lol) My tip on hard mode is if you find a mako shard in a box, save and load. They reset on for some reason so can be save scummed. If they ever patch that out then hard mode will be a complete nightmare
@@nezkeys79 Chakra and Pray are your friends in Hard Mode. They heal but don't cost MP. That way you can save major heals for dire situations. Hard Mode is all about learning the game as much as possible so you can beat every enemy in the best way with the least resources.
@@TamsinV as if don't know that? I finished the game in hard mode and obviously you need prayer and chakra to conserve mp most of the time (although magnify healing is better sometimes since a single cure from aerith on everyone is still pretty good). The use of magnify is a strange one though because some battles are absolutely 1000 times easier with magnify + aga spell especially when you can save scum mako shard boxes. Boss battles are better with magnify>resist or magnify>barrier or magnify>healing. Never tried magnify>haste but I don't think it would be that great in this game My comment about mako shard boxes does allow you to blow your mp in some random battles though as can just save and reload to max your mp again. Some of the boxes in the drum section of chapter 17 have 3 shards in them (probably because of the forced fights hojo does and the door you go through locks forever) With regards to gotterdamerung I only got it during chapter 17 so I played 90% of hard mode without it and only benefitted from it for the last 3 story bosses. If a player goes to chapter 17 first then they will trivialise chapters 1-16
The battles will make you yawn the mechanics are extremely repetitive the dodging is the worse in any game with the largest hit boxes possible and just exploring the world or tryna to find your way around a level is a pain. They put obstacles in the way so they can waste your time instead of enriching the environment and keeping you entertained with lore characters development or enemies. If the OG ff7 was never made this game would've been a failure and a sequel wouldn't get made
I finished the game, am now doing it in hard mode, having tons of fun, watching videos about it online, i think you can say i definitely liked the remake.

I just beat it, I'm completely mind boggled on how they can end it like that when the story is nowhere near being finished but it's to be expected, the game is way TOO big to fit into one disc especially they've added hours of new content, I loved every minute of it and I can't wait for the next installment
Yeah but they could have waited to introduce seferioth untill the second game keeping Shinra as the big bad for the first past and maybe just glimpses of him in this one

@@sebastiencarron1574 I've played the original several times. It was never implied. However, since avalanche was originally a pet project of Rufus, you may be inadvertently correct.
Dyllan Carignan yes I knew that from Before Crisis. On the other hand, I only had an assumption on why they would do that. I never said it was implied in the original game. Initial comment did.
Loved most of the remake. For the better part of the game I was amazed. However the new storytelling really killed it or me, especially/mostly towards the end. I think the a big part of the originals success came from its story and how it was told/presented including how characters evovled. It felt more nuanced and grounded. At least to me how the remake ended was a bit bizarre. I'm afraid they might not be able to pull off a good new storyline (that would have the same impact as the original) for the upcoming parts of the remake. It's all personal preference, but to me the ending was really silly and hard to take seriously. :P Sorry for my poor english, not my first language.
Well said and agreed. I get what theyre trying to do, but it seems like theyre too afraid to make some of the big character sacrifices that they made before. The ending was weird
I agree dude. While the graphics look incredible, I’m not completely happy with some of the changes Some aesthetic changes like clouds hair, the buster and hard edge swords. Tifa, Barret and Aeris look great imo. I felt Reds proportions were off Didn’t like the menus - should have copied the originals layout I actually liked some of the new missions. They fleshed out Biggs wedge and jesse really well and the extra time with Aeris was great. But I didn’t really like where the retelling of original events deviated. The arbiters/whispers were absolutely stupid and the ending is not great imo. Very much a evangalion remake vibe.
Red really should have been playable. I don't care if he was only in the last two chapters, you can replay any chapter after defeating Sephiroth and level up inactive party members.
@@SeanWheeler100 I'm guessing the reason he wasn't playable because of time constraints. The game might have been delayed another month if they made him playable and they wanted to get the game out. But like I said, that's just a guess on my part.
@@ikec2894 Wasn't this game in development since Cloud's release in Smash 4's DLC? There was one point where I was surprised the game wasn't out yet. They had plenty of time. There's no constraints. And they got him working as an AI. They couldn't let you switch to him in the moment where the party was split in half or equip Materia to him? Maybe they just couldn't figure out how to work his name in the menus because the surnames Strife, Wallace, Lockhart and Gainsborough are in a smaller font than their first names that are shown more, and XIII is not exactly a surname but a part of a codename. But I'm sure they would have figured out how to handle Red XIII in the party interface.

I really wish they had really pushed the sandbox feel of FFVII remake. Soon as I got to Wall Market I wanted to visit that ramen shop and eat with Aerith. Stuff like that woulda been so sick. Yakuza & Shenmue level interaction with the environment & game sprites would be greatly appreciated. I like that kinda stuff.
I thought of that too. I remember in the original there's a restaurant in Wall Market that seats you and offers you something to eat and I chose Korean BBQ. I think that same restaurant is in this game but it's not possible to take a seat even if the owner invites you to. I liked tiny lil details like that. I'm hoping that places like Gold Saucer will be as interactive as possible in the next game!
@Chris Farley ffxv wasn't filled to the brim with minor details though. Witcher 3 is and look at that, the game can be long as hell. Xenoblade 2? By god so much in that game and takes a while to beat.
100% this! Does ''exploring around in a village/ city'' chapters where the best. But sadly, most is just window dressing. Wish it had more side quest also. Indeed, something like Witcher 3.
A lot of people make this misconception, but the fact that Shinra was responsible for blowing up Reactor 1 was always implied in the original game. If you talk to Jessie after the first bombing run, she's constantly going on about how she "only made it like the computer told her" and that she "must've made a miscalculation somewhere". And then again at Reactor 5, President Shinra deliberately lets the reactor blow up. Possibly even setting it off himself, since it doesn't appear that Tifa or Barret set off the bomb after the Air Buster fight. It was always implied, you just had to read between the lines in the original. In Remake it's laid out right in front of you so you absolutely know that Shinra is pulling the strings the whole time.
In the original it was always vague - yes they hinted at it, but like I said, they inexplicably made it black & white in the remake and it feels less nuanced as a result
@@nokeksgiven Nah, he is absolutely correct. There were the dialogues with Jessie and the shown scenes with President Shinra and Heidegger that definitely told that they were aware of Avalanche and let them pass. When they failed to destroy the maco reactor, they blew it up intentionally to bring up the general people against Avalanche to make it easier weeding them out. This is actually an old strategy device of rulers to break down revolutionary tendencies, you can find this all over the place in political history. I played the original 20 years ago and I never had a doubt about this. The remake just shoves it in your face, that's all.
@@nokeksgiven The fact that Jessie was surprised by the massive blast. It's a clear dialogue and later on, Shinra lay a trap at the Sector 5 reactor and, as well as shown in the remake, the bombing is not successful, although it has exploded in the same way as reactor 1. (see the explosion when Cloud fell). There is no hint that Jessie made the bomb for reactor 5 any smaller. It is implied that the bombs in both cases where unfit to actually do any serious damage and that Avalanche was basically incompetent to be a real threat to Shinra. You can see that later on when 7 Reactors in Midgar are still running to charge the sister ray and that the sector 5 reactor is clearly operational.
Although the combat is fun, it would've been cool if the "classic mode" was actually turn based. It would have given the game a lot more replayability.
@Chris Farley yep, like the first open world theme was inspirational yet somehow can bum you out at the same time. The second world map theme would actually bum you out for real cause it got real after Weapon showed up.

@@DTREsizzurrup420 This is a Remake. There is a difference between Remake and Remaster. A remaster improves the entire game graphically while not changing up anything (except maybe bugs). im_boba considering the turn of the events in the remake's ending, it's safe to say the story is going to be different. If they were to follow the original in this similar style with minor changes, they'd need 10 parts at least. No, we're in for something new and different for part 2 and 3.
Sephiroth and Aerith will tease each other about destiny and possible outcomes since they are the only ones who seems to know something. I think that overall it’ll stay the same chain of events. Bulgenhagen will be the one with answers.
@@d2k82 I'm not so sure. Nothing has really changed the party's current goals, and nothing substantial has changed to make the plot necessarily be different. My only issue is the ripple effect with Zack. There's a crapton of explanation needed for cloud to have the buster sword if Zack is still alive.
The plot will be completely different, it's obvious. Sephiroth is alive. This is it. Just for this the plot will be completely different. FF7 ORIGINAL SPOILERS In the original Sephiroth is dead, and that's why the remake doesn't make sense if we compare it to the original (which will forever be a must play).
7:09 - The Bomb didnt fail it did exactly what Avalanche intended. The bomb was only mean to cripple the reactor and make it inoperable. This is still a change from the original, but the intent clearly wasn't to destroy the entire reactor.
Yeah and I don't think they removed the moral ambiguity either. They see the destruction and how hurt people are and they think they did it and yes they are shocked. But immediately they decide it's a cost that is worth it to save the planet and they must move onwards despite how much worse they now know the consequences will be. The only one who attempts to lessen the impact going forward is Jessie, indicating that if not for that the whole team would be fine with repeating what happened in the first bombing, even thinking they were entirely to blame. That's really not as black and white as some are saying it is. In that respect (the morality of the cast) it's no different at all from the original.
So far I really like it, Midgar and the characters feel a lot more developed than in the original. I don’t really mind the new story additions either. It's amazing how the in-game graphics for the FF7 Remake are much better than the CGI in the original game. I remember when the concept of "CGI-level graphics" seemed like a distant dream.

I like the Remake very much, however my least favorite part was the big changes in the shinra building. Definitely felt a lot less horror and dread in Remake which I thought was important to showing the brutality of the villains. Instead the worst we got was Hojo's experiments being extended. Makes me wish they made it M for mature and maybe those changes wouldn't have been so drastic. Also I do question showing so much of the main villain so soon too, almost to the point that it felt like fan service. That all being said, I'm on my third play through and this time on hard mode, lol
I have a theory after completing this without ruining the story. What if it's already happened before and the whispers are trying to keep it the same as the first game. Think about it, they appear when anything is different from the first game. If I'm right, this is going to be awesome.
I like the new, but still prefer the original. something must be said about retro gaming graphics which leaves much to the imagination, and i say that literally i a good way.
You'd have to go back further than that bro, but i see what you mean. At the time when I played this game it was indeed seen as advanced graphics in that era.
I am impressed with the remake and can’t wait for more! The current limit breaks are already epic, can’t wait to see omnislash and final heaven. Also summoning Knights of the Round.
Endless Eternal it appears as though they’re sticking closely to the original, I have my hopes that they’ll keep KOTR, omnislash, and final heaven since these abilities are standouts in the original.

i think a faithful remake of 6 would be pretty neat, if they leave the whisper type stuff out. They shoulda used that in a story where it would have fit, like a remake of 8. I will say though, if Nomura touches 9, I'm kicking him square in the dick. 9 is perfect the way it is. I think the other remakes have been pretty cool though, like 3 and 4. idk why they felt the need to make 7 so big and different, but i'm hyped for the next part. not as hype as i'll be if they make ff16 a medieval romp and a return to the roots, but hyped, still. I don't think FF will ever stop huffing it's farts at this point and go back to how it was when i was a kid, but i guess that's okay as long as the games are still fun. basically, I'd rather completely new titles that are like the medieval fantasy games with some magitech and gameplay like ff7 remake instead of just remakes of those old games, but i'll still play the next remakes if they happen.
For the music, I went to the audio and set everything lower than the music. I LOVED the music of the remake! That said, I also seen Distant Worlds:Final Fantasy live because the whole series has amazing music!!
I'm stunned by how good the remake is, every doubt and concern i had was handled way above my expectations. Now i'm just wandering how long the wait for the next part will be.
The Remake is a love letter and a beauty of a game not seen recently. The gamemakers obviously were fans of the original. I loved every second, I hope they do the same for FF8. edit: btw i'm 38 and have the original boxset. being in Hungary I had to get it pirated at first, bought from Austria afterwards. So, I really put in an effort to play this. So did the people making this Remake. We need you to continue. The 1st game I'd prepay for.
@@Kagetora- Nobody asked for an "alternate timeline" in FF7 remake nor does it need one, and time travel and alternate timelines are rarely done well in games and movies any way. But leave it to Nomura to mess things up cause he thinks he is the best writer out there when his writing sucks (that said despite his obsession with zippers and belts his is a really good artist)
Thank you Nick, I played the original, back in late 90s. The New appearances of characters and and settings look interesting with obviously better graphics. I never bothered playing the remake, did not bother with XII either. They have never interested me. I was persuaded to try Resident Evil 2 remake, but that was awful and confirmed my previous thoughts about them. They are actually more like remakings and do not justify or respect the games they are based off. I like the way it used and blended captions with beautiful soundtracks to create and show emotions and represented them in a natural way. It created and still creates a good storytelling atmosphere. In comparison to bright, shiney graphics, extended scenes and sometimes voices which sound artifical, almost empty (Like most netflix acted series:/) and their over dramatics. A lot of new games keep going that way and most damage the gameplay and effects. I will saying something though, you mentioned it made more sense in the retelling. In the original, Cloud was not a random mercenary. He was Tifa's old friend and from the communications on their return when Tifa asks Cloud if him and Baret still fought, this shows they all had a familial relationship, so it makes perfect sense for him to join them in their basement.
Just one little thing drives me crasy. The cool down Bar in the original was the ATB bar all along. i know its tottaly nerdy to pick on such little things 😅
I LOVE the remake... but I miss the "character" that the music in the og game had. It gave the situations a different feel from now. Especially in the mako reactors.
@QUEENDOM it's still pretty good ngl, but there are some things it can't do better than the original, like how sinister the "Mako Reactor" theme sounded, the reactor sound effects in addition. That's what I meant lol
I absolutely loved Remake. The cutscenes were a bit long in the tooth, but they were all enjoyable. This game left me wanting a lot more, and I think that's both its strength and its weakness. I can only hope the next installment lives up to the potential set up by this game.
I did too. Honestly, I'm kind of glad it wasn't perfect. The original wasn't either and had a couple of pacing problems and translation errors and all sorts of stuff like that. I like that the remake isn't 100%. It has great parts and meh-parts but it feels authentic.
If I played the Original Final Fantasy 7 and was a fan of it I think I'd be bloody damn impressed with the remake. This is exactly how you're supposed to remake a game. I also have a theory that the story for the remake isn't going to be the same especially because of the wisps... It's like that common "Destiny" trope used in all media that the protagonist fights against but if you played the Original one you know what Destiny has in store so I think the Devs are going to push for story that isn't going to be exactly the same, in my opinion that's genius level storytelling between 2 versions of a game. Damn, wish I was a fan of the Original.
I got ff7 for christmas in 1997 here in Sweden and maybe it was because my main language wasnt english and because of "full house" on tv BUT I thought ... lol Jessie was a guy on my first playthrough ;)
i just started replaying the proper game last night and it seems obvious when playing. From her hairstyle, slimmer body to the others and her conversation with cloud on the train; while teasing she 'will try harder next time' to make his fake identity card better. Her crushing on him and him subtly flirting with her. On their return to the hideout, he also flirts with Tifa, saying how could he not sleep better sleeping besides her, which she brushes off playfully with "I don't know what you mean". When I was a child I did not notice these little nuances either, or not that I can remember much of them anyway, memories are more based in emotions I felt.
I disagree with the original's backgrounds being silly looking for today's standards, I think these backgrounds are until today some of the most beautiful I've ever seen in a game. Obviously not talking about the graphics of the game as a whole.

@@Nick930 lol, could be there are other abilities that do it too but just attacking doesn't increase the stagger percentage
The next final fantasy game will be ff7 remake 2. Probably
Imagine going back to 1997 and showing everyone the Final Fantasy 7 Remake...
You'd rip a hole in the space time continuum right where their minds used to be.

Not only that, much more nostalgia has been omitted from this original gaming experience.
DTRE Sizzurrup yep I agree, there’s a lot I wish they stayed true to the game. I’m all for adding new stuff but those kinda seemed different than what would happen in the OG game.
The iconic embroidery only noticable to the observant displays a neon textured sign up above on the roof that I choose to keep in anonymity only for us all to revisit once again via watching someone else's playthrough or ultimately re-experiencing by playing the original version (Yes, why not!?) The dialogue and soundtrack should have never been altered as they already have been deliberately so, either carelessly OR purposely, only to be enhanced, as aforementioned...
I suppose the remake of Final Fantasy VII, and that of any other saga in every aspect, is a mere method of presenting a new generational interpretation, bringing new flavor or style, basically.
Gets very frustrating sometimes when u need to conserve mp for the bosses but wasting it on the "normal" enemies (some of which are like mini bosses on hard lol)
My tip on hard mode is if you find a mako shard in a box, save and load.

Never tried magnify>haste but I don't think it would be that great in this game
My comment about mako shard boxes does allow you to blow your mp in some random battles though as can just save and reload to max your mp again. Some of the boxes in the drum section of chapter 17 have 3 shards in them (probably because of the forced fights hojo does and the door you go through locks forever)
With regards to gotterdamerung I only got it during chapter 17 so I played 90% of hard mode without it and only benefitted from it for the last 3 story bosses.
@Aaron9 It seems like they're specifically setting it up so they can avoid killing off major characters. Has me concerned for what comes next honestly
I agree dude. While the graphics look incredible, I’m not completely happy with some of the changes
Some aesthetic changes like clouds hair, the buster and hard edge swords.
Tifa, Barret and Aeris look great imo.
I felt Reds proportions were off
Didn’t like the menus - should have copied the originals layout
I actually liked some of the new missions. They fleshed out Biggs wedge and jesse really well and the extra time with Aeris was great. But I didn’t really like where the retelling of original events deviated.
The arbiters/whispers were absolutely stupid and the ending is not great imo. Very much a evangalion remake vibe.
You guys have no idea how relieved I am that I'm not the only one disappointed.
nah i disagree, it served its purpose and carried things along to the next part, Aerith will still die don't you worry about that.
I just started the video and learned something new. I had no idea it wasn't the full game.
Yeah not even. I always liked Midgar buy I was so excited when I was able to explore a whole big world. And the story just gets better and better
Cloud is the Leon Kennedy of Final Fantasy. Change my mind.
Not to mention Mr T. I mean barret ;)
Leon Kennedy is too girlish beta boy and Resident Evil is a over rated trash crap game, eww.
@@user-mo7dd1vt1s It's not overrated. And Cloud is girly. What's your point? He literally wore a dress.
I'm 95 percent sure Red will be playable on the next part. If you look closely you can see his materia on his neck.
Good eye. I'm gonna try see if I can see that.
I noticed that too, on his collar. He looks amazing!!!! Always been my favourite character.

Although the music is great in the remake I think it had more of a punch in the original.
I agree and the original music was more moody and fit the story better
@Chris Farley yep, like the first open world theme was inspirational yet somehow can bum you out at the same time. The second world map theme would actually bum you out for real cause it got real after Weapon showed up.
I mean,...we didn't have any voice overs back then. The music was of course more intense.
Still I understand the mood it gave back then, but wouldn't necessarily say that it was better.
The music was mimicked terribly, as we have mentioned prior. This is ultimately an Alteration, not a Remake, of the original Final Fantasy VII.
@@DTREsizzurrup420
This is a Remake. There is a difference between Remake and Remaster. A remaster improves the entire game graphically while not changing up anything (except maybe bugs). A remake takes an original game but builds it back from the ground up with sometimes noticeable changes in the story or gameplay.
While the remake is good, the original has a certain kind of magic that cannot be replicated, nor replaced.
We’re basically still in the beginning of the game in the remake...
im_boba considering the turn of the events in the remake's ending, it's safe to say the story is going to be different. If they were to follow the original in this similar style with minor changes, they'd need 10 parts at least. No, we're in for something new and different for part 2 and 3.
@@d2k82 it did say this "unknown" journey will continue so your probs right
Sephiroth and Aerith will tease each other about destiny and possible outcomes since they are the only ones who seems to know something.
FF7 ORIGINAL SPOILERS
In the original Sephiroth is dead, and that's why the remake doesn't make sense if we compare it to the original (which will forever be a must play).
7:09 - The Bomb didnt fail it did exactly what Avalanche intended. The bomb was only mean to cripple the reactor and make it inoperable.
This is still a change from the original, but the intent clearly wasn't to destroy the entire reactor.
This was the same as in the OG but it was very subtle. Jessie in the OG has one minor dialogue questioning the bomb that she used.
1:54 just being nitpicky, but the dogtag is in his original concept too, just not in the chibi model haha.
So far I really like it, Midgar and the characters feel a lot more developed than in the original. I don’t really mind the new story additions either. My only complaint is the towns could use a bit more polish when we’re in the side quest segments, ex. lip sync, textures loading more efficiently, better lighting. Overall though, I really enjoyed it.
DisAgreed. DISAPPOINTING. Changing the remake story to be WORSE than the original is just sheer stupidity by the creators

marcus p so apparently just the Midgar area is only about 15-20% worth of the original game so if we were to do the math were in for about another 3-4 games. That or they do much longer parts for the next games to cover even more than that.

I think it was a bit longer than 2-3 hours but agree yep
It's amazing how the in-game graphics for the FF7 Remake are much better than the CGI in the original game. I remember when the concept of "CGI-level graphics" seemed like a distant dream.
Totally agree! Its like the whole game is in CGI level graphics way beyond what could be done in 1997. Makes you wonder what games will be like in 2043 another 23 years of advancement, hard to imagine, damn.
Looks on par, maybe even better than Advent children CGI, which is crazy.
@@supersmashmaster43 That's true. I guess we can predict that 15 years from now, video game graphics will be equivalent with or better than the CGI from Avengers: End Game. That's not hard for me to believe at all. But personally, since every triple A game will look amazing, I think people will care less about graphics by then and care much more about the advancement of game AI.
I love that FF7s characters look exactly the way the illustration community imagined them when they would make their hd ff7 fan art from back in the day. Thank you for keeping it in the community and the dream alive!

@@Diogo85 hell yeah😅

The whispers are the fans wanting ffvii the way they remembered. Killing them allow for a time-line change

The remakes of the game are awesome. I will love to play both the classics and remakes of these classic games. I can't wait until they do the remakes for all the Final Fantasy games
I would to see FFVIII and FFVI being remaked just like FFVII.
i think a faithful remake of 6 would be pretty neat, if they leave the whisper type stuff out.

Original still looks damn good. That's hardware from 25 years go and they were pushing it to it's limits.

@@amsgame7148 Indeed, the original was far from perfect. Seemed they could never decide what character models to use in the cutscenes 😆
I remade the famous scene with Aerith and I think I nailed it. It will probably take another decade before part 2 comes out. :P
Gimme the OG over the Remake any day of the week. And twice on Sunday.
The fact that they'll be charging $60+ for each "installment" is a joke.
I disagree with the original's backgrounds being silly looking for today's standards, I think these backgrounds are until today some of the most beautiful I've ever seen in a game. Obviously not talking about the graphics of the game as a whole.
the simple poligon models where a choice of art and expression, not a lack of something else..
