- Never ever turn the engine in an anti-clockwise direction.
- You will need to remove the Damper pulley. You must not use a socket wrench to unscrew it. You could lose its setting, or bend the pin in the engine.

Removing and the installing the plastic cam cover is a probably the hardest thing in this job. Thanks VAG for the great design

@@johnblanning2500 patience.. nothing other than trying to wiggle it out without breaking the plastic cover. Follow the steps about the heat shield.
Especially removing injectors
The bottom plastic sequence was showed after the damper pulley was installed :D

Good luck! This is a tricky one!
For people doing this on the diesels, not required on petrol models you probably want to open the thermostat and you won’t be able to do that without ODIS, if you don’t you have a good chance to cook the head. You don’t have to but you might want to check the coolant fill quality by pressuring the reservoir to 1.5bar after filling it abit above the plastic line (30mm up) mark the spot, if it drops below 30mm you may have a problem.
A question. The water pump for Vw golf 1.6 17 plate is it switchable or non-switchable
On Skoda Fabia 1.6hdi 2012 i service book say intervall 198 000 km and no time limit, very strange

@@UseTool_EN It did, there is a small mistake in the video tho, when putting all back together, first we put this lower timing cover plastic along with engine carrier, then the crankshaft accessory pulley, not the other way around. Costed me 5 minutes, but no biggie! Video is great otherwise, very well covered.

After your replace when you need to replace again 60.000 km 80 or 120 or 150.000km i have a GATES - Ref: KP15678XS-1 set

Without a dealer doing this work, it's a nightmare as a DIY for a common person
This is something that you shouldn't do if you are not 100% sure that you can do it ! And even if you know what you doing, you need to make sure you've got the right tools 👌😎
Did it two weeks ago on a road side, car runs great and I saved million of pounds. And Im not professional mechanic.

No need for vacuum, it will bleed the normal way. Just fill till max mark, start your engine and see how level drops, when it drops, fill it. Go for a 3 minute drive with coolant bottle with you, stop and check again, fill and drive again 3 minutes, stop and fill again, do this till it stops dropping. I did 3 times and next day 1 more. Thats all
No way I'm doing this myself.
