- I wasn't ever really a fan of the Tomcat, but the newly introduced F-14B has grown on me a lot, especially in looks.
The new Tomcat IS very good looking, but it's also VERY good at killing things. Upgraded systems, upgraded weapons, and upgraded flight performance mean one of the hardest hitters at top tier is going to swing even harder.

Hi. the F-14B doesn't actually carry 380 countermeasures, at least in real life. The LAU-138 is a chaff adapter and is the main cause of confusion when approaching the F-14B countermeasures system for the first time. The LAU-138 in fact is a rail that replaces the LAU-7 Sidewinder launch rail and contains 160 Chaffs. A total of two LAU-138 Sidewinders can mounted on station 1A and 8A (one per station).
The LAU-138 indeed contains 160 Chaffs but that cartridge is smaller than the cartridges mounted in the AN/ALE-39 dispenser and in fact every activation releases 4 chaffs. This means that a single LAU-138 provides 160/4=40 Chaffs. Just to make everything even less intuitive, the LAU-138s are controlled together so two LAU-138 do not provide a total of 80 activations, but only 40.
The original countermeasure dispenser set mounted on the F-14B is the AN/ALE-39. The AN/ALE-39 can be seen under the tail of the F-14, near the arresting hook and it looks like two boxes placed one in front of the other. Each box contains a maximum of 30 chaffs, flares or jammers, divided in two sections of 10 and 20 cartridges.

@@Boris_The_Turtle Mig-29 is better but only because it gets 27ER's which was just a terrible balancing decision from Gaijin ignoring the alleged fact that the model in game never even fired one. Yak-141 as a result is very overshadowed by it.
Kinda just ignored all the soft factor flaws the F-14A had, especially on release and while the radar missiles were still nerfed into the dirt. There are many planes which were substantially more dominant on release than the F-14A. The F-5E, and the MiG-23MLD are perfect examples of that in the last 2 years for example.
As for the F-14B though, as much as I'm excited for it (its very cool and I love the TCS), I do think this is an example of "too much, too soon". An early F-15 with AIM-7F/M's would've been a healthier decision to try to balance out the MiG-29's current dominance (lower quality missiles but more of them with similar flight performance), while there were MANY options for TGP armed supersonics for the US, such as just giving the F-4E all the TGP's, LGB's and other PGM's it used, adding an F-111, or adding an F/A-18.
It seems gaijin took the lazy way out and decided to add the plane requiring the least amount of modelling with no real thought as to the impact it would have on the game, as usual...

How did you get differential thrust to work? The only way I've seen is MEC, but that requires a button to be pressed before throttling just one engine. It's clunky and wastes time. Is there another, more effective way to do it?

Imo the mig23mld was much more dominant on release than the f14.
AIM-54C is not meant to have a smokeless motor, iirc that was just a test.

Honestly, I had no idea the F-14B was that maneuvrable with diff.thrust. Now I want to see 3D thrust vectoring, canards, and fly-by-wire avionics in a unified package, on a platform where just the basic model already had more than one hundred confirmed kills to the loss of no aircraft.
I wonder how long before Gaijin sell that version of the F-15 that NASA got their hands on, then gave all their engineers shrooms and a black budget?
When the F14A is also had the Aim 9L but the aircraft is so broken it doesn’t need it
well gaijin got around it by calling it the A "early" and i think that is BS XD cause if they add the "Late" (literally the A) as a premium i am gonna be pissed.... I can see the in between of the A and B, (A+), being a premium though and even the C that never truly came to be.

I'll be honest, i don't like the F-14 a lot. Back when it got first added, i really hated playing top tier. It really wasn't a good time to be a Viggen or J-8 at that time. I feel like B variant will dominate air RB again and make this rift of unbalance at top tier even more. It's a shame that the top tier air aditions are pretty much always the same as said at the beginning of the video.
I guess the F-14B is pretty much the perfect plane to have now and i can feel a lot of salty top tier chats coming. Would be cool to see the 12.0 planes all go up to 12.3 or higher to give 11.0 planes some space in the meta again. Let's see how this plane impacts the meta.

Top tier definitely needs to be 12.7 at least to give breathing room to all the other jets, cause I can totally agree ain’t no way I’m gonna fly out the f4e just to get raped by the f14b
@@julitzgaming3172 top tier is already bad enough for the f4e, facing both mig-29s, f-16 exports, being very slightly slower than the F-4S which is invading top tier and destroying all the bases before it can reach, but now its gonna face F-14As every match from people trying to grind the F-14B.
Yeah....still remember the pain trying to play Viggens and even Draken D. Faced them all the time, i couldnt do anything against them........Sweden could have gotten 2 things Gripen and Danish Draken. Both of them would be much better then the excuse for a 11.3 CAS that is AJS..........like it is nice it in the game.......but it is waste of time to even grind it.

Making the planes and weapons realistic should be priority over nerfing. Never nerf if its realistic. Only nerf it if its unrealistically overpowered.
Pili gets it,,,, the F-14A was (and is) a dogfighting MONSTER in the 1v1 if the pilot manages the aircraft correctly. sadly top gun syndrome is pervasive at top tier and lotsa F-14 players fly with automatic wing sweep and full afterburner in a dogfight 99% of the time... but I remember in a time where no other top tier jet could contest the J-7E in a duel...the F-14A when flown properly neutralized it :3
Honestly the A model already HOARDED energy at sea level in a proper ratefight- easily among the first jets to get added ingame where I had to ease off of the throttle JUST so I didnt constantly accelerate beyond my cornerspeed in horizontal turns. it makes me quite excited for how this will perform!!! >:3c
As it stands in the devserver, the F14B still does not hang out with Mig29's and F-16's (obviously) in a dogfight. So the new tomcat will only overpower in a dogfight the same planes that the F-14a already does, but you finish them faster. It won't be a easy fight for a mig29 pilot tho
@@HighRiskV yeah F-16s have such a low cornerspeed in a ratefight while so easily maintaining it with their insanely good T/W ratio. most of the times that leaves not much the F-14 can do unless they pull some tricks to force an overshoot or somethin...
but MiG-29s i feel ALMOST ... confident facing them, even in the F-14A so long as im at sea level!
I generally try to merge at like...900-950kph IAS and use the extra energy to force a vertical turn- even the F-14A is still at above 800kph by the end of that kinda turn usually, so from there i just enforce the two-circle regime over the fight while keeping at 700-800kph. And usually in a 1v1 MiG-29 players will pull ALL their G's in like the first few turns!! so, as long as i can avoid their nose in those turns, the F-14A can be super reliable for dealing with them. aside from the F-16, it rlly feels like the longer the dogfight goes on, the more advantage the F-14 gets!!
@@blessthismessss i have the same experience, but a good mig29 pilot will easily dictate the fight in 1C using verticals, even at sea level. On top of that the mig29 can also rate fight as well as the f14a but in a far larger spectrum of speeds, the B is marginally better on 2C but you need a good crew to not pass out all the time because of those high rate speeds

AIM-54Cs are just a copy paste of 54As right now. The Type Z and Stage 2G radar are also copy pastes of the Type W radar on the Tornado F.3s.
Edit: Stage 2Gs have been partially modelled.

Finally, a break from complaining about the economy
6 years ago, I started playing war thunder, quickly realizing how long it would take me to get end tier planes and tanks I chose the Americans for this reason. FUCK YEA FREEDOM BITCH! And after 6 years I’m 3 plans away from having the ENTIRE American tech tree researched I’m ready can’t wait for this bad boy. Sadly the economy is still trash and it makes the game unplayable so if they fix that tho then it could be Ight.

F-14 has a asymmetric thrust limiter, which was ONLY to be turned off to attempt to get out of a yaw departure. It's sad that gamers are gonna abuse this lack of limitation in WT.

Sad thing is that the mig-25 was supposed to drop this update, but Gaijin keeps pushing it away to give US mains what they want.
Imagine how the tomcat summer would have been had we had the mig-25 added when it was supposed to.

So true, as a US and USSR main, I hate the fact that both are constantly complaining and hating on the other players.
I mean to be fair US will soon have it's fourth, 4th gen fighter in the game. While others only have one or none
US mains start pissing and shitting their pants and crying on the forums or reddit when they aren't curbstomping at top tier for a single update.
I have top tier air for US, USSR, Sweden, France, China, the US really didn't need an even better F-14 with an even better Phoenix variant while other nations don't even have ARH missiles yet.
