omg i love the tflight one its a good starter but the t1600m is where its at absolutely amazing HOTAS
Got my heart pumping at the end there, Brilliant job!
That was incredibly fun to watch, thanks guys :D
Hey, the phoenix doesnt go active unless it was commanded by the AWG-9. If you drop the track prior to pitbull it will not go active.
And to add that the PH active launches the PH with the seeker active. IIRC it has enough battery for about 20 nm before its dead in the water.
Im pretty sure the AWACS on GS was invincible at the time of the making of this video... You hit that thing and did 0 damage im afraid.
yeah we figured that out later, but it still made for a perfect challenge
I had a thrustmaster and while it was fun the plastic pieces inside it made it so fragile that it was simply not worth the money. I know some people have replaced the shitty plastic internals with metal ones but unless you have the tools and skills to do that I wouldn't bother with one.
I would not recommend the T-flight HOTAS. It’s great value and works fine but, in my probably ignorant opinion, it’s not up to snuff for DCS. Not all is lost with the sponsor, tho’. The T16000 joystick, pedals and throttle setup from Thrustmaster (basically the next step up) is a fantastic starter/budget option. I’ve been using mine for years and although I covet something a little more high end, I find that with some juggling of modifier keys (on the keyboard and on the HOTAS itself) nearly everything in DCS can be done without much compromise. The only module I am struggling with is the Apache, specifically in the copilot/gunner seat. As I’m currently unable to budget for a more capable stick, I’m looking at using an x-box controller as an additional peripheral that should allow me to manage everything in the Apache. I’m still working on it, but it’s looking promising. Point is, if, like me, you buy the T-flight, you may need to upgrade sooner than intended. The T-16000 setup, although being well below the more expensive setups I’ve tried in sheer features and immersion is a solid choice that can be used indefinitely.
5:22 thanks for not being PC it means a lot!
Hey pocket’s back!!! Hi hot pocket.
Hey babe
Man, that was frustrating, but you got'em after all
That last shot, could of hit him, if you had the ACM lever (red one on the left) up, so the missile goes active off the rail, my understanding is, you always do that when 10nm or less.
Top Gun Maverick vibes. Love it!
One time, I destroyed an Imperial Star Destroyer with an A-wing.
I'd fall back, let my shields and lasers charge to max then slam the throttle and power to max engines and charge at the shiwld generators. After about 20 minutes, both were gone and i spent another 30 or so minutes doing the same charge up/full throttle in lasers blazing at the deplyment bay doors.
I destroyed it, but took a direct turbolaser hit on the final run and died.
I maw not be Luke Skywalker but dammit, I succeeded.

@@Dan-xo9ly typically, it’s more like flying shitbox or something colorful like that. There’s not a ton of love for the old E3 unless you have some form of Stockholm syndrome. Everyone is ready for the AF to buy E7 wedgetails and mothball or scrap the AWACS fleet.
@@_Dandy_S They're getting rid of the E-8 so we'll see how long the E-3 lasts after. I'm hoping they just go with the wedgetail

In the Lord of the Rings, the Eye of Sauron could only look in one place at a time. The E3, on the other hand, has full 360 degree awareness. So basically, the E3 is worse than the Eye of Sauron.
Oh nooo
Shouldn't it be the other way around?
@@fcv1_ The E3 is worse to face, the Eye is worse to be

Reminds me of when I used to intercept the AWACS in the Mirage on the GS server. There used to be a corridor where you could evade the BluFor SAMs if you had a good ECM and small RCS and flew angels 50+. Every single blue Eagle and Hornet would try to intercept me but couldn't maintain my Concorde-like altitude and speed. And man, after you take out an AWACS the Hornets drop like flies without their precious datalink picture. I tried that mission profile with the Tomcat but always got tagged by SAMs.
You just single handily explained one of many reasons why the f16c will always be my main squeeze.
Arent the AWACS immortal now? Would be more interesting if you could kill awacs and tankers even if it will be hard
Yeah the hornet’s radar is garbage
@@Acrophobia2 I think it is quite good but many people are way to reliant on awacs and almost never fly without them. Maybe even bigger thing is datalink because it makes it easier to get the sa info needed while if you only get awacs calls you have to imagine how the picture is
@@Acrophobia2 It's okay, but Hornet pilots tend to develop a dependency on passive detection via the link. Someone flying the Eagle may be used to shifting his scan area all around in a paranoid bid to sniff out Flankers in the weeds, but Hornet guys aren't used to that kind of thing. One of the times after taking out the AWACS, I took the Mirage back up to angels 50, found a 2-ship of Hornets, hit them from directly above with heaters, and then ran away. They saw my nails on RWR but couldn't find the Mirage that they assumed was coming in low.
I've never heard of an E-3 called the "Eye of Sauron" before. Nothing like shitting your pants after hearing " *I SEE YOU* " on your threat detection monitor.
Imagine all the digital displays turn into a dark red "I SEE YOU" with a missile lock on the background
*you’re targeting data has been sent*

@@yoyoyoyoshua Ikr. Obviously the server owner ( GS ). That was a huge letdown to discover when I finally managed to connect 2 Phoenix´s with the AWACS. The GS Server is a pure Airquake server without anything beyond that, even ground units are not meant to be attacked in any way (Bases) and it takes out all possible dynamics in an open enviroment like this.Better join 4YA PvP Server, its way better IMO since it gives you all options how you want to structure your sorties,no invincible bullsh!t. 6:40 Well there's your problem, letting Jester start for you. He always messes something up.
18:30 Hope you set target size to large to increase the range the missile goes active (about 15-17nmi). [EDIT] Correction, 13nmi.
Though the missiles weren't notched; the Phoenix doesn't go active until it's told to by the F-14. If the F-14 dies before that active command is sent... it's a trashed missile. Unless it's launched with "PHX ACT" on, or launched in a Pulse lock mode, where the missile will be Maddog. The countdown will start flashing when the missile is active in TWS.
The 54A-Mk60 would be the better choice for sniping, since the missile has a lot more energy than the C.
Around what range does target size small go active compared to large?
@@csquared2330 About six miles. Regular is about nine to ten. The value is set at missile launch, so changing the switch won't have any effect on missiles in flight.
As per usual we hopped into the pit with a less than minimal amount of re-familiarisation. The growling sidewinder server slots are all hotstart, because it's too difficult apparently. As for those missiles, I can't remember if I shot them in Active or not, but we were monitoring them for a bit, they were tracking after our death. I could be wrong, that's what I remember though.
@@kamsa1243 Oh, hotstart. Yeah, most things are set correctly at that point, with the *one exception* being that radar is on standby. :D
Did you launch anything in PDSTT mode? In that mode, the Phoenix acts like a giant Fox-1 and never goes active, being SARH until impact.
@@Xeno426 All CM systems were off, datalink source was not set for TAC, 2-way datalink wasn't on, datalink frequency was wrong, radar was on standby. Those are the ones I remember. All shots we made on the AWACS were in TWS manual, I would shoot the first 2 normally then set the rest to PH active as we progressively got closer to death.

*SPLASH 1*
Incase your curious. That shaking you were getting at. 9 mach is a normal phenomenon that happens with all aircraft that go in between sub sonic and supersonic, known as transonic. Transonic transitions cause all sorts of weird bumpyness and strange behavior due to the supersonic shockwave happening on say the planes nose but the wings may still be going sub sonic. Basically different parts of the plane are at different points of speed. This is modeled in DCS hence what ya saw.
Simply push the nose down, break thru to supersonic then continue climbing at supersonic.

Pro tip: flip the ACM switch and the Phoenixes will fire instantly instead of taking 4 seconds.
Wat?… thats a thing? >.>
As crazy as this might be to do with a Tomcat, one has to appreciate that this is pretty much the *entire* purpose of the J-20. Why build a 5th gen superiority fighter when you could build a 5th gen missile truck that just sneaks past the front line to take out all the aerial support?

Back when I played this game a lot. My buddies and I would take F-5s with 2 sidewinders and go onto Hoggit and try to take out their AWACS. If we couldn't get it with the sidewinders we gunned it down. The trick is getting back to base. You have very little fuel even with the fuel pods. Lots of fun

Go onto GS again, use the Aim54-A Mk-60, and this time sneak up the north mountains, the Beslan AWACS is very vulnerable, then head west and kill the kutasi awacs.
I have a TFlight Hotas-1. It sucks. Ot struggles to connect, the reaction times aren't good, and it almost constantly is sending the games I use it on, to push the planes nose down. I can't even pull back on the stick to save it, it only slows down the time it takes for it to start diving.
Wouldn't recommend.
