Ralfi's Alley - The Nuclear Option

- My buddies and I decide to take on the SAMs on GAW, but we chose to do it in style with the nuclear option of an RN-24 on a Mig-21.
I had a ton of fun making the editing on this video and I think it turned out great. Hope ya'll like it.

DCS definitely needs the AIR-2 Genie. 50's tech, best tech, before everyone started getting worried about _silly_ things like radiation, fallout and nuclear winter.
For that, we'd need the F-102 or F-106. Not bad, honestly, but those aircraft didn't have much in the way of armament.

F-104s and F-89s were also capable of firing the Genie. The Scorpion is the only aircraft to ever fire a live Genie.

Wish they'd put in proper animation for nuclear explosions. It just feels wrong to kill with a nuke and not have any flash or mushroom cloud.
this game demands a lot as it is if you add that animation most peoples games would crash

@@PervonHarke Something is visible. There is a small explosion and a texture overlay. Want better graphics? Wait until 2040.
This is not a nuke - it's a massive texture that drops down and buries everything beneath :)

9:00 Next time you guys see clusters of enemy air like that, you should try employing the RN-24 as an air to air weapon :D Also, I think the RN-28 is the smaller one IIRC? Been like 5 years since I played around with it to be honest, but you might have less TK issues with it over the 24.

while the Rn-24 is a Memeworthy thing, the Rn-28 is sometimes a viable option against airfields

I ran a rough simulation. The blast radius of a 20kt bomb (The RN-24) is around 44 kilometers. Which explains why it killed friendlies at 20,000 feet.

How does it count as a miss when you are slinging a nuclear weapon? Total atomic annihilation tends to be something of an area of effect attack.

what i learn from this video is Rn-24 is an addictive drug, say no to drug kids stay safe
13 megatons its not a tactical nuke its a strategic one, no wonder it kills you so far away (tactical one would be from 5-20KT)( or 1-350KT for modern one)
You’re confusing this one for the mark-24 which was an American bomb this is the rn-24 Soviet bomb which we don’t actually have a yield for but is likely around 20 kilotons given the blast radius
@@mrtortoise3766 have hard time finding proper yield for it some say 10 kilotons you say 20 kilotons yet the nuclear simulations of the effect of the nuke give 6 megatons (how big is the radius of killzone in DCS).
@@SpaceFH we don’t have the yield because the soviets never released that information but just going off another RUclips comment I found under this video the yield is 20 kilotons (it has a blast radius of 20 000ft)

Another entertaining offering, Ralfi. Watching your videos always re-motivates me to climb back in the ring for another swing, although my skill level is far, far inferior. Good work on the score, too. DCS and The Hall of The Mountain King belong together.

You should have used the 28, it has a smaller warhead. Also you're supposed to toss them by pulling up 5 Gs and droping it when you reach 110°
We didn't do this because it was how and what we were supposed to do. We did it because it was the fun thing to do, and we did it our way, the fun way.
