- On this fine day I hopped on with OperatorDrewski as we brushed up on our A-10C II skills in the GAW server. We had a great, fun time and basically destroyed everything in our path without any remorse. Fun times were had all around!

I did the wide screen because I felt a wee bit artistic today.
In the first clip take off we knew we were taking off with a tail wind, thanks for noticing.
End credits that I usually have didn't work due to an unsupported video ratio, but I was too lazy to re-render everything without it, so enjoy the tunes I guess...
No, nothing about this sortie was supposed to be realistic.
We took off to do things A-10s shouldn't, at altitudes they don't belong in, with a loadout that would make a crewchief cry, and it was the best day ever.
so didn't join the ultrawide master race? i highly recommend it, esp. for sim players. also how did you snag a 3080??!
Yea, ultrawide is awesome for DCS. Not quite as immersive as VR but with that being said, I still perfer my ultrawide to my VR. Mainly due to the Oculus CV1's resolution (1080×1200 per eye aka 2160x1200) being litteraly worse than my monitors (3440x1440).
@@macgynan Any recommendation for a good ultrawide? Mainly to be used for DCS and sim racing.

Something I've found out when I flew in DCS : The more realistic a flight sim is, the more hillarious shenanigan you can pull.
Nobody bats an eye when you fly an inverted gun run in Arma. But when you do a point-blank pop-up attack with the Fishbed’s nukes in a populated server in DCS, everyone takes notice

@@theginger7148 Nobody bats an eye when an A-10 teamkills in real life. But when I have a minor oopsie in game (strafing the hoggit taxiway and killing 3 friendly aircraft), pops won't forgive me

Might have to have another go at GAW at some point. The A-10's HMD functionality makes it really good for that kind of air to ground. Although I could probably do the same thing with the harrier as long as the weather isn't horrendous and I stand off a bit more I guess.

In Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising, the Russians referred to the A-10 as the "Devil's Cross" every time it would come by to hose down their armor.

Fun GCI, but I don't think I could handle him before my morning caffeine hit.
I'm also kind of amazed how you manage to get anything done on GAW as a ground attacker. The last half dozen times I've gone on trying to get anything done I just get intercepted by enemy aircraft, even when there's literally a dozen pilots up performing CAP and most of them are being talked on by the GCI. Dunno if it's the times of day I'm on but it's a bloody circus show. It's what I expect to see on 4ya but at least there the dot labels are colour coded so I can tell who's a hostile aircraft *before* they're launching heaters at me.
If you're an a-10 you have 4 aim 9s to play with. You can very easily defend yourself even against flankers. But we also chose to strike things that were within our line of defense. So we knew how far CAP stretched out in front of us and we decided on targets that would allow us to run for cover if we needed it or ask for nearby help should we need it. If you stretch out too far from blue lines then you will pay the price for it down the line.
@@ralfidude the latest debacle was thirty miles from Anapa with a string of CAP 150 miles out somehow missing everything. I had heaters but that close to Anapa the sky's thick with planes like flies and with no datalink or radar for iff interrogation there's no way to tell which dots are trying to kill you. At least with my screen if they're close enough you can tell between a hornet and an F-5 they've already shot you with a missile.

Nothing like a surprise SA-10 site to liven up your day. Do AI SAMs rearm eventually or are they just screwed when they run out of missiles?
depends on server I believe.
Yep. If a logistics vehicle is nearby, it'll rearm. SAW is configured this way.
Some vehicles, like the Ural-375, are flagged as logistic vehicles. They will rearm any other ground unit in a fixed radius, indicated by a brown circle in ME (~50m IIRC), even if they are not part of the same group. AFAIK a truck can not run out of supplies and will keep rearming forever. Reload time depends on the vehicle receiving the supplies.
So, if there is a truck nearby, expect reloads every few minutes.
@@fonesrphunny7242 hmmm... So in a Liberation mission if there's a group of two Strelas, a Ural, and a UAZ, they'll be able to keep the missiles coming (ignoring rearm delays for the moment) but if I kill the Ural they'll be helpless once they run dry?

I always wanted to play DCS but I don't have a joystick or anything. Hoping one day ill invest in it and finally play this game. I also want to know how is the learning difficulty to be able to play it effectively?
Its pretty steep learning curve. Time, effort, trial and error= you will learn and have fun
