Thank you and yes I remember those days, I remember 10k subs man lol feels like it was a month or two ago honestly. I appreciate the support though much love.
Props to the MiG-21 pilot for a valiant effort. I've learned that in a Mig-21 without SARH's or all-aspect R-60M's, you need to be very patient and careful against an A-10. He'll always be able to turn inside your circle, so you've gotta use the vertical and manage your energy. That said, the planform of the A-10 is HUGE, so a crossing snapshot is a lot easier.
Can you do a video where you take the A10 to its highest altitude, and then attack ground targets? I think it could be cool to see the A10 loiter way up high, and just dump its full arsenal on a heavily fortified target.
A-10's were designed and built around CAS (Close Air Support). They thrive when close to the ground rolling in the dirt. High altitude would make them very vulnerable in ways they can't easily counter. It's possible to get an A-10 to do a high altitude mission, but why when other aircraft are better and more suited for that role?
@@swordmonkey6635 I generally understand the A-10's designed role. I suppose my request is in pursuit of GS's ability to put aircraft into situations they were not designed for, then challenging their capabilities.
@@vill5325 I didn't define CAS as requiring the need to fly close to the enemy. I said that the A-10's was designed for CAS and was meant to fly at lower levels to fulfill its mission. Turbine engines and straight wings to allow it to loiter low and slow over an engagement. Redundant systems and armored cockpit tub against enemy ground fire. The infamous GAU-8 to destroy armored targets (originally Soviet armor). All of these things were meant for low level CAS. Not high altitude. The A-10 can do high altitude, but it's strengths lesson and weaknesses grow in the higher altitudes.
@@vill5325 Ask a soldier or Marine what they think about an A-10 flying overhead, Brrrrt'ing the enemy as they are engaged. It's the psychological effect the Warthog has on both the friendly and enemy troops that must be factored in. Yes, it was designed to take on Soviet Armor in Eastern Europe, but it proved itself in Iraq tenfold in becoming less a tank killer and more of a enemy suppression weapon. They're cheap and effective for what they do. Can other aircraft do some of the roles better? Yes, but soldiers and Marines love the Warthog for a good reason: they can see it and they know the pilot is flying in harm's way to keep them safe.

I worked munitions and the chaff flares come in "buckets" the F-16 takes 4 buckets the A-10 takes 16 buckets. I hated when we had to do the initial loadout of the A-10 for combat. The shear kanetic energy would knock the turret flying off with no explosion.

Now then where the days when you could walk around the festival in actually get a look at the cockpit of the aircraft❤

Is there any way to fly the A10 in manual reversion on DCS? That small arms fire and subsequent landing made me think a bit about Kim Campbell's experience and the loss of hydraulic pressure. Granted, hers was much more than small arms fire and very badly damaged

The T-14 seems to be designed around modern combat with an empty turret and secluded crew compartment and three person crew.
