Its hard to find a certified sunscreen in india to begin with but that is still a better bet than the most popular or best sunscreens that is just elegant to use. UV radiation can or does lead to hyperpigmentation, early wrinkling, uneven skin tone, sagging and darkening acne scars.
    Broad Spectrum
As you probably already know by now, ultraviolet rays are of two types: UVA & UVB. UVA rays are ones with longer wavelengths, which helps them penetrate easily into the deeper layers of the skin, causing potential skin damage or even cancer. UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburn, sun spots, and are the culprits behind that beachy tan.
While choosing a sunscreen, it’s important to choose one that has ‘broad spectrum’ specified since that means it protects your skin from both UVA as well as UVB rays.
    What really is an SPF?
SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, is the gateway that protects your skin from UV radiation. It offers a screen-like protection that slows the absorption of UV rays into your skin. The SPF number indicates how well the sunscreen protects your skin-the higher the number, the more protective the sunscreen is. An SPF of 30 allows for roughly 96.7% of protection for your skin, whereas an SPF 50 would protect 98%. While you can opt for SPF 50, experts recommend SPF 30 is perfect for everyday use. But also, here’s a super important PSA: even if you use SPF 50, it does NOT mean you should stay out in the sun for long hours! Higher SPF numbers do not equal durability of the sunscreen.
    PHYSICAL v. CHEMICAL
There are 2 common types of formulations when it comes to sunscreens: physical and chemical. Here’s how they’re different and how they work:
    Physical
Physical sunscreen, also known as sunblock, does exactly that-it blocks UV rays from penetrating the skin barrier. Physical sunscreen often has minerals in its formulation such titanium oxide or zinc oxide, two metallic components that were previously believed to reflect UV rays; prior research and studies have found that TiO2 & ZnO in fact scatter UV rays. This doesn’t mean it’s any less protective for the skin, by the way.
    Chemical
Chemical sunscreen works differently than physical sunscreen, in that it absorbs UV rays, converts them into heat, and then scatters them. Chemical sunscreen usually contains avobenzone, oxybenzone, octinoxate and octisalate in the formulation.

True once I was in a holiday and applying episoft my skin looked a bit shiny and my masi was like lo iska fashion show shuru hahaha (it was not funny) and again in another one she was like ab dekho ajkl tumlog gora hone ke liye sunscreen wagera lagate ho hum to immune hai Sun se . I didn't have the energy to explain her so I ignored and did what I had to . So much misconceptions.
Also my bhabhi is a cosmetologist so she applies sunscreen v v religiously and my relatives be like dekho dekho sanwli hai na usse bardasht nai hota to gora makeup lagati hai (for white cast)
It's very sad how the mentality is.

I'll hope pray and manifest that your melasma heals ASAP!! Hyperpigmentation is so nasty for brown skin.... I am 28 and have never had acne, untill now and I have developed borderline cystic acne. And yes your skin concerns walk in the room before you. Everybody is like but you have a whole skincare regime!! My self confidence tanked for a good 20 days....
Dermats shamed me for refusing to go for Oral contraceptives as first treatment and saying atleast try antibiotics first. I went back to your earlier videos wherever you touched on mental health. Now at a much better place. Found a better dermat. Healing inside out- just using pharma niacinamide clindamycin, adapalene, sunscreen concentration on my thyroid levels diet IBS etc too

Hence i have seeen a couple of youtubers like her (example- aboli A , samaptee banerjee, pooja reviews etc) growing. Obviously I am not blaming the audience..we grow better each day and steadily der will be a demand for more youtubers who actually create science based skincare... But majority of them want skin lightening with lemon and rice DIY types videos..I am not saying der r bad but sometimes dey can be harmful.. example lemon.

I wonder what practices will render skincare a bit more economical and sustainable especially for young adults and collegiate people since we have a pretty limited budget ?

For outdoors....those chalky thick zinc sun creams, favored by cricketers, are the real deal. One may look like Casper, but at least the skin will be safe. However, re-application every 2 hours is must. It is not cosmetically elegant like Purito which may be more suitable for normal city wear....but not for outdoors. So perhaps the choice of sunscreen was not right.

Sunscreens have changed my skin in past two years. I do have acne. But I can clearly see that there's much lesser sun damage on my face and body than my acquaintances. Something that is manageable. And I have been using ones with ir protection inside too. The artificial visible light is no lighter shit. Hello , I'm really appreciative on your indepth analysis on the need for sun protection especially showing the effects on skin and the care it needs to reverse it .I don't actually mind chemical sunscreens as they are safe enough for us for now but its being proven that chemical filters like octinoxate, octocrylene and oxybenzone have harmful effects on corals causing bleaching so for that reason i'm sticking to physical sunscreens like qurez even though their not many options in the market ticking all boxes .Finding a good certified suncreen suiting your skin is harder than ever . I would like to know your views on that .Thank you.

Hi Ramya, here is a good video for authentic information on this subject. A lot of this notion is fairly hyped:
here is the video with scientific information: ruclips.net/video/b9zVfj8Q2pk/видео.html&ab_channel=LabMuffinBeautyScience
sunscreen is almost undectable in the ocean. its detectable in an enclosed area- so in such circumstances it might be useful to not use it. HOWEVER 9:24 onwards you will get the answer to it.
Qurez needs to get their sunscreen certified for best safety.
      Hope this helps.

One criteria that has had me apprehensive about buying any beauty product, almost forever, is the Geographic location where its manufactured. Also, am very new to beauty market and haven't heard, read or seen videos on selecting a product out of where it was manufactured. Of course there is information on how to spot fakes, but how much does it really affect - A product manufactured in a known industrial area, also known for fakes vs a product claiming to be manufactured in some valley factory. Can you please share any views on this, how you trust products or make a video in this . Thanks alot

If any of your viewers still had any doubts about using sunscreen i am sure now they will be rushing towards sunscreen like nobody's business. I myself converted to sunscreen devotee after seeing your videos.
Mam I want to start retinol 0.025%. just have one question, should i stop using any kind of actives for first 4 weeks and only focus on retinol and good moisturizer and hydrating products. Plus good sun protection of course. Will this be a good strategy?
P.S. I feel very lucky that I found out your channel... 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 I do not feel like rushing to get the new launches asap anymore.

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  3 года назад

absolutely right strategy- extend it till your skin settles down post the retinization process.
If you your retinization process is short then introduce actives after 8 weeks only- one every week. slow is always good as it avoids irritation and inflammation which sometime one cannot see but is there
