The Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive now qualifies for the tax credit. With 363 mile of range for around $36.5k. For the miles and price that is a great deal.
Why is the DOE politicizing the rebate for Rivian? The rebate is no longer tied to union membership, but meant for promoting local industry.
Is it because Rivian is a little guy? Corruption.
This has nothing to do with the EV tax rebate.
That Audi recreation of the origin 30's design car is incredible. They were so far ahead of their time in pre-war Germany. Love those gauges. So germanic and minimalist. When the germans go for art, they are fantastic.
The fastest speed recorded by an Auto Union car was 268.432 mph (432 km/h). This incredible speed was achieved by the V16 Auto Union car on the autobahn. Amazing for the 30's.

You said the sentra is the only nissan remaining sedan. What about the LEAF and the Aryia?
English MG brand was a sleeper woken up by the Chinese, the Italians would be smart to follow suit.
I get the government wants to keep workers on the job at Stellantis, but demanding they build a million cars when demand is not there for the product(s) just makes more problems.
Is Italy a Communist Country? If so, then just come out and say it.. otherwise Government NEEDS TO KEEP ITS ideas on Capitalism to themselves.

Thanks!
Very nice
I don't understand that last bit. Why would Tesla and Rivian be affected by regulation when they are already at 100% EV? Is it because they might not sell as many carbon credits to automakers that have hybrids?
It's about competition. The companies building hybrids can meet the targets without just having to sell expensive EVs.
@@nathanahubbard1975 Don't look now, but BEVs are becoming cheaper and cheaper. Tesla's cost on average to build an EV is at $36,000 in 2023, down -$3000 for the year....and still falling.
Very stupid of Mr. Wainchill to characterise Tesla as being disadvantaged by only producing BEVs - that's where every auto manufacturer wants to be, but they haven't worked out how to avoid losing money
@@nathanahubbard1975Tesla just released a Model 3 with 363 miles of range that costs you $34,000+tax. That is not an expensive car, that's significantly under the average vehicle transaction price.
The EPA Head is appointed by the US President, and you know who supports him( loyalties) same as the previous Scott Pruit under Trump, they craft the laws to who funds them, legacy auto.
I wonder of the new Jaguar EV will be called the "E Type?"
I had to chuckle, when it sounded like Jaguar's strategy to raise their margins is to stop selling cars.
Tesla is the only EV maker that has an electric sedan around $30k. It may not be their best seller but I do see enough of them around.
Tesla's cheapest vehicle starts at $45k and is not only their best seller, but THE best selling car in 2023.
Nissan needs a Murano EV and Z car. Yes an EV. "Z" see, si.
I like the new Z, and I hope they keep investing in it.
How is it not a clear bias when the US Energy Department makes funding contingent to unionization? Seems like a clear cut legal case to me. Maybe Rivian should sue. Worked for Musk concerning military contracts.
The F-type is the only Jag I would be interested in.
That’s why it was killed: Tata hates Jaguar 😂
That audi would be sweet with electric drivetrain
Quiet and streamlined retro cars are amazing and I hope to own one someday. The new RS on the right side is electric though, so if you've got that much money it might be nice too.
The Piech family is too stupid to build it.
Goodwood is a wonderful show but if you get tired of the modern world try the revival - September I think - it is utterly spectacular and Goodwood moves to the circuit. Amazing!
Your shows have improved much! I'm enjoying your coverage not being centered around China. Godspeed.
@@mrjim1973 China is the world's biggest country, and has the world's biggest car market. They're producing more BEVs than anyone else, deploying more renewable power than anyone else, and exporting more BEVs than any other country. It's gonna get in the news. Thank goodness we have Tesla, otherwise America would be forgotten & ignored apart from its global military aggression
100% Their sponsor is a CCP China based sponsor so they have to spout CCP propaganda!

Ultimately Ownership costs of EVs are far lower than either ICE cars, hybrids or plug in hybrids. As the refinement of battery technology, electric motor, and at home and on the road charging technology continues to lower these costs, no amount of marketing will be able to obscure the EV advantage. Added to these advantages will be solar, wind, and vehicle to grid technology. The public is generally aware that the driving characteristics of an electric vehicle are extraordinary and way more fun and safe. Nuff said.
Are you renting your ev or buying?
Are you keeping yor ev past the warranty?
From 2002-2006 Toyota built about 7 million camrys . Junk yards are full of camry used parts. And mostly fits all years.
When will evs reach this level?
Aftermarket parts for camrys are cheap and plentiful.
But if you are part of the top 5% that gets a new car every 3 years. You have no clue what the rest of us do to keep our cars running
@@golfish8589 If Toyota cared to make a competent BEV back when Tesla helped them make the Rav 4EV, then junkyards would be filled with Rav EV4 parts and it would be the best selling vehicle in the US much like how Rav4 ICE is their best seller. Toyoda doesn't want to drop their combustion habit, so they continue with their hydrocarbon love. Meanwhile there are over a million Nissan Leafs, Chevy Bolts, and Teslas well past warranty that have plenty of parts available. Go watch SavageGeese's video on the Nissan cabriolet and see how parts shortages hit any low selling vehicle. The point is if the vehicle is competent it will be competitive and will sell en masse - not like a compliance car like the Fiat 500e or Jaguar iPace or Audi Q8 etron.
@@golfish8589what if I told you there are so few parts you have to replace on EVs (especially Tesla bc so few buttons), so most of that headache goes away?

Wtf does “friendlier position” mean. This is why we can’t let unelected official dictate policy.
Thank god for recent reversal of Chevron case.
What un elected officials are you talking about ? ? The IRAwas a bill that eas passed ny the senate and house and signed by the president.
Funny you should bring up the Chevron case. Did you know the Supreme Court justice Neil Gordhich's motjer was the head of the EPA and was the ine responsible for getting Chevron passed? LoL
So you seriously want federal judges making policy in the over 400 agency's? And not listen to the experys?
Sounds like the begining of every disaster movie ever made.
And what happens when a federal judge not of your political party is in charge of the case?
You guys dont know weather you are coming or going. Such a hypocritical party you belong to. Smh
Corporations are people, it says so in the constitution. Oh wait, it doesn't.
Well, there was an election. And the guy who was a union supporter won the election. That's what is driving this.
So I'm not sure what you're really trying to say here. Except that you don't like unions, but you're trying to hide it behind some pretense of defending representative government, while simultaneously demonstrating your contempt for the same.

1:53 - meanwhile elsewhere in Germany, NO software problems at the HQ of VW's long-time "Stuttgart Cousins" (since 1930) Mercedes Benz with either the launch of electric G-Wagen or the new AMG-63 Pro at Goodwood, and conspicuously NO software problems down in Bavaria (Munich) at the HQ of "Bey Oom Vey" (BMW) with the launch of the new G90 M5 Hybrid. also NO problem with the Sync 4x software in use at Ford in their new Capri Model as it made it's run up the hill yesterday in Brooklands, this despite the MEB platform both it and the European Explorer they're based on being directly sourced from the long-time 12 Brand owning VW Mega Corp.
But of those 3 you mentioned only BMW is doing well (with their BEV models). MB might have the highest margins per vehicle of any mass producer but their egg EQS series isn't doing well. I almost bought a EQS SUV but switched to a Rivian R1S. MB repair times in SoCal for the EQS SUV were worse than Rivians. MB didn't do their software - Nvidia did it for them. VW is having all the teething pains of trying to do something in-house with talent that didn't know how to integrate software/hardware. If they can get a decent cohesive base platform it will save them money in the long run. But whoever is at the top was just throwing money at things to see what sticks. The Rivian partnership will bear fruit faster than the Chinese JV. It seems these are the lasting effects of dropping Herbert Deiss.
M/B is linked with Geely.
Has Tesla or Elon confirmed the delay of Autonomy Day?
The UAW is really standing in the way of progress IMO. The best they do is increase pressure on the automakers driving up prices and stifle growth! Sure they boast about record contracts & high wages only then to watch their members lose their jobs in many markets around the country. The only ones who really win are the executives running the Union. I was a member of two and I don't feel they really did much for me. When I was laid off at a dealership that was downsized, they told me we got nothing for you, start looking for a job. I ended up taking a withdraw from the union and working for a nonunion Ford dealer. Honestly, the nonunion dealership had it's issues as well and I ended up leaving the industry all together. Many technicians have done the same in the last 10-15 years. My quality of life has improved much! Praise the Lord. Good bye corrupt auto industry.
Why the bleep are you blaming the UAW ? ? ?
They didnt write the IRA.
All you do is rip the unions every chance you get. And you are usually wrong.
Move to a Communist country where labor unions are outlawed.

Well I guess my Xf S will be my last. It has been an amazing car. They don't know what to do with Jaguar. Same as Stellantis doesn't know what to do with Chrysler.
It's pretty hilarious. I feel majority of what unions do is increase inflation. The irony it's part of the Inflation Reduction Act's requirement.
Yelp,,,,, but not as much as much as CEO payouts...
@@nc3826A good CEO can transform a company and make it more profitable and greatly improve the lives of employees, partners and increase the wealth of shareholders. The UAW adds no value to a company over a non-union workforce , likely adds overhead. They maintain the status quo and inhibit growth and innovation.

Why is the Altima being axed?
It still sales well over 100k units. The Nissan Kicks sales far less with a cheaper price tag, yet its still being made. I understand why some cars like the Maxima and Versa with low sales are getting axed. But the Altima makes no sense.
Probably cafe standards
They didnt say if it's bring axed or not... but if they do, my guess would be low profit margins. They'd rather sell a potential Altima buyer a Rogue.
Probably for the same reason Ford got out of sedans. It's a low-margin segment where's it's probably impossible to make money unless you're Toyota/Honda. They may also overestimate brand loyalty, thinking they can get Altima drivers into a crossover in the future.
@@concinnus How can they be making money off the Kicks then when it sales for even a lower price? And how were they keeping the car afloat this long? The Sentra has even lower profits and sales numbers but they are keeping it?
My only guess is they see it as pointless to investing a new gen or such. The Altimas biggest market is the US I think and it use to sell 300k units. It's been in nothing but free fall since. Same with other sedans from other brands. Nothing but decline. Hard to justify to shareholders to make a new model with no prospects of growth.
A democratic government should not encourage support of a union, especially one with corrupt leadership. An employee should be able to freely chose between a union or non union workplace. If unions would eliminate their work rules, they would allow companies to be more competitive.
Yeah! What are we Sweden?
The new VW Gold 2.33 GTI will be released in 2028 in some countries.
What does Rivian's attitude towards a labor union have to do with whether they qualify for IRA funding or not? They either meet the requirements or they don't... pure government mafia tactics on full display. "That's a nice factory you got there Rivian... sure would be a shame if something happened to it..."
Defies all understanding and logic.
Government involvement where it shouldn't be. They need to GTF out of the way.
The UAW is essentially just an NGO at this point.
That's the Biden admin in a nutshell.
@@RobertOlds.630 The Democrat Party has long been a friend of corrupt unions and other criminal organizations. Biden is returning the party to its roots. The UAW is still a festering stinkhole of corruption.
Any government restriction of funding should be illegal in regards to supporting a union.
That is another case of government misusing its authority.
VW have some serious problems if they can’t launch an EV Golf before 2029
Rivian and Tesla autoworkers should join together to sue the DOE for coercing them to join a union that they don’t want to join. And paying a full day per month of union wages to the organization that they never wanted to join in the first place.
DOE: Either join the UAW and pay them money or lose your job because Rivian goes bankrupt. Plus Rivian workers, unlike legacy workers, actually care about their company and its mission.
Or work for an auto company that's not trying to screw them out of pay and benefits.
Does Elon showing up on a certain list have anything to do with the recent stock hit?
The UAW would be the death knell of Rivian. My advice is stay far far away from the UAW.

Unions are important to the USA because they give workers a collective voice to advocate for better wages, benefits, and working conditions. Through collective bargaining, unions negotiate with employers on behalf of their members, creating a more balanced power dynamic. This can lead to:
* **Higher wages and better benefits:** Union workers typically earn higher wages and have better health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off compared to non-union workers.
* **Safer working conditions:** Unions often play a role in improving safety standards and reducing workplace hazards.
* **Job security:** Unions can help to protect workers from layoffs and unfair terminations.
* **Stronger middle class:** Unions can help to create a stronger middle class by ensuring that workers are paid fairly.
Also provide some competition for non union
Unions are no longer needed in US auto. They stifle innovation and growth, and they do not promote the growth of their members. They are part of the problem, not the solution.
Unions are good @ protecting the DEADWOOD ,and Drunks ,Google the Chrysler case vs the Union in Detroit about over a decade and a half ago, Drunks on the job had go be given back their job, no wonder ChryCo products were so bad.
@@AuralioCabal-nl8gi While it's true that some union contracts can make it difficult to fire employees for misconduct, unions also typically have grievance procedures that allow employers to discipline or terminate employees for just cause.
The specific Chrysler case you mentioned likely involved details about the severity of the offense, past disciplinary actions, and the union contract's language.
Overall, unions can play a positive role in ensuring fair treatment for workers and improving work conditions, but there can also be downsides like bureaucratic hurdles in termination procedures.
