    • @Tokamak3.1415

The majority of the minivans that Kia, Toyota, and Honda sell are their highest and second highest trim lines and those are all just below or well above $50K, It's a lot of money, but it's reasonable when you consider a small CUV like a RAV4 Prime or CR-V fully loaded costs the same and things like a Grand Highlander are cash cows for Toyota and easily over $60k when configured like the minivans. I would buy a $50K Pacifica if it were more reliable but it still has a lot of the Chrysler gremlins - for that price it has to be a Toyota or Honda. Those cheap Grand Caravans were great for rental fleets because they were dirt cheap, had enough power and space to move 8 people and rental companies dumped them after 3 years - but they didn't sell well to the consumer market.

And if you went back in time and told GM CEO in 1997 that by forming SAIC-GM, they would earn billions in profits from China with GUARANTEED growing sales for TWENTY YEARS, peaking at selling 4 million cars a year just in China by 2017, and only then starting to decline in sales, but still selling 2 million cars a year by 2023, and assuming then CEO John Smith Jr believe you, would he be jumping for joy or bemoaning what might happen to their China division 30 years in the future?

The point is China will f*ck Europe no matter what, so Europe might as well grow a backbone and at least put up a fight instead of just bending over as it's done for decades already. What's the alternative? China's gonna do everything to destroy Europe's industry REGARDLESS of what Europe does. China doesn't have trade partners. It sees everyone as enemies.
My suggestion was that Europe should do exactly what China has done in the past, so at the very least it will have the excuse of China's own past policies as a precedent.

And all manufacturers are guilty of these issue's. Forget all this new nonsense technology and go back to making vehicle's that are affordable and economical to maintain. Part of the optimistic views fir 2024 was caused by the belief the Fed would cut interest rates some, but nothing so far.
The bigger factor for fallibg sales at companies like Stellantis is greedflation.
Another factor kiling sales is banking having to tighten up standards. The skyrocketing default rate by consumers and dealerships is sending chills throughout automotive sales. Since the vast majority of consumers and dealers finance their vehicles, having less access to loans and the higher interest rates on these loans is crippling sales.

LOL!!! All I can say to you is ask someone who has a Tesla with FSD to take you for a drive with it in the city on city streets. With all the pedestrians, turning lanes, traffic, stop lights, etc. Now try that same route with Blue Cruise.
Oh wait...BC only works on highways (not even a lot of secondary ones) and even there it won't pass people. It doesn't know what a stop light or stop sign is and can't handle the slightest road construction signs. It even has trouble taking a sharp bending turn on those highways.
As to BC getting a higher safety rating was specifically (by Consumer Reports) because they were only testing the plain Jane Autopilot that comes for free with all Teslas. They weren't testing FSD. CR said that BC tracked your eyes to make sure you were paying attention to the road and that made it better. Good idea and credit where it is due. However Tesla now has this same feature in the latest v12.5 and higher FSD. It will be interesting to see if that changes the ratings. But then again Tesla won't stop there as it fully intends to totally automate driving to where you can sit in any seat. I sincerely doubt BC will ever do that.
