Stopped at a dealer lot to look at 2024 Sierra Denali with manager special sign on it. Sales guy says yup, it's $400 off today. Lol! $400 on a $70k vehicle. I said see ya.
The sales guy must be either on dope or delusional. He needs to rip the addendum sticker off the window first, then take at least 20% or more off the MSRP price before the negotiation begins.
Are some of these dealerships trying to shift blame now? let me shed a tear. When they were straight r***ing the consumer through every orifice ,overcharging for nitrogen, tint, door cup protecters etc. on top of the huge "DEALERSHIP" markup, losing customers that were buying from them probably since they started walking. They weren't crying when they were racking up massive profits from outrageous markups. LET THEM FEEL THE PAIN!!!!
Exactly, I went to buy a GT500 in 2022 and even with a custom order they wanted $10k over sticker, they lost that sale right away. Ended up with a loaded GT under sticker, the dealers greed amazed me because I was going to pay sticker for a $80k car and that wasn’t enough for them.
So basically the car market is going back to pre-covid times.. we have never paid MSRP for cars. Combine this with lingering inflation then there's no wonder why no one is buying. Too little, Too late
They are going to have to come down a lot more in price to move these trucks or they're not going to move. I'm not paying $80K + for a new truck that isn't worth no more then $30 to $40k.
I used to love my picks ups.I had an old 4 banger ChevyS-10, then a long bed reg cab GMC Sierra but I’ve been totally priced out of the pick up truck market. I’m actually considering a Subaru Outback or a Forester as an alternative to a pick up. Full time AWD, long enough to haul some lumber, carpet, storm doors, hot water heater, small furniture and ect with the seats down, maybe add a hitch for a utility trailer. They’re literally about 1/2 the price of some trucks, almost double the gas mileage and cheaper to insure. They can shove their $60-70k pickups up their arse sideways!!
I’ve worked at a CDJR dealer for 11 years. When I started you could get a base model 2 door wrangler for $19,995. Almost the same Jeep came off the the delivery truck last week and it’s was $58K 😂
And if a person buys that 2022 vehicle it has already depreciated for 3 years and they try to tell you it's a new car. No, it is not. It's 3 years old and if you try to trade it in a day after you buy it, you will find out how much it has depreciated.
yea, i'd go in and tell them i want to buy a new 2024/2025 truck but i'm trading in a 2022 pickup with 1500 miles on it. what will they give me for the trade in? then offer to buy their 2022 for the same price.....
Of course the problem is pricing! Even at $50k, that's $833/mth for five years at 0%. Add on insurance, and you're looking at $1000/mth for fiveish years. There aren't enough people out there that can afford that. They exist, but they are NOT plentiful.

Dealers JACKED up prices, and car makers didn't like that all the profit for a vehicle was going to them. So..what to do? JACK up the prices dealerships have to pay to the car makers. Make it so high that dealerships can't drop the prices enough to attract buyers. Stellantis, to this point, has been unwilling to cut the prices, or rebate costs back down to the dealerships. Personally, I will NEVER purchase a new car for more than 50k. Ever. Not even a Lexus.
If I was buying a brand new '22-'23 when the '25's are rolling in, they would have to give me one helluva discount! When I bought my '19 F-450 Platinum, the first '20's were being unloaded off the hauler. Without even pressing for it, the dealer offered me 25% off if I took it that day. I think they wanted it gone because the '20's had the new 10-speeds, and they didn't want to sit on a (older proven reliable) 6-speed truck. Needless to say, I took it that day. Platinum for the price of a Lariat.

During the so-called pandemic U.S. auto manufacturers got used to people getting paid higher wages and thus having enough money to buy their incredibly over-priced vehicles. But if you look at any recent FRED charts, wages have been on a steep decline since mid-2022. With that said, auto manufacturers refuse to recognize that people's debt to income ratios don't make sense any more, particularly when many vehicles are well over $100,000.
As someone who is looking to buy a used car it is a really bad time right now and guess what, because vehicles are getting so expensive insurance has directly followed behind it. Old is gold and new is old

The price on trucks with discount isn't terrible could be better. The issue why we sold and never returned (Especially our Ram 3500 dually) is that recalls are insane every month a new one and your truck would sit for 2-3months waiting on diagnostics or parts without them or insurance covering a comparable. Even when we did the fuel recall with full coverage we had to cover for parts they said wasn't directly on recall but was a consequence of failure (fuel pump exploded cause lines tank and turbo failure - they only cover the pump hanger, tank and labor, still came out $1800 after 1 month back and forth). Lol the thing is they log all codes in the pcm even if you try and diagnose it yourself and fix it you won't be able to reset cel 😂. New cars are married to the dealership. 😢
I run a business and I've needed a 2500 or 3500 to tow a trailer almost daily (started with a half ton) but I cannot justify spending my mortgage on a truck. I will if it ever breaks down, but I keep it maintained on the dot and it has been great. When a new truck hits about 60k I'll jump in. Right now in my area, 60k gets you 3-4 years old with 80-120k miles. It's pathetic.

I really appreciate the content, and you're 100% correct. Dealers have a perfect storm right now regarding inventory depreciation before the sale. But! LOL, if that Ford dealer knew the info you were making public, they'd surely bounce your ass right off the lot!
Interest rates don't make a big difference, when the real problem is the price is too damn high starting with invoice to the dealers. The OEM needs to kick some money back to the dealers so they can lower the price to move some metal!
My GMC terrain engine blew up. They didn't care at all. When I went to Ford they couldn't explain the discounts provided. And nobody could convince me to buy a Chrysler/Dodge product. I went to Toyota and they said we can get you a hybrid but you'll have to wait a month. I said let's do it. I bought a Prius, and now a Corolla Cross. They get nearly 60 and 50 MPG respectively. Both have the same powertrain with nearly 200HP, known for running 300K without any real issues when maintained. It takes me less than one minute to FILL my tank. I've never spent over $30 on a fill up. And when I look at the prices of a used Prius with nearly 300K on it, some are still near $10K. Keep your trucks and the companies that don't care about making a quality product. I'll wait a bit for mine.
Is it just me or is Subaru the hidden gem in the new car market? As compared to other vehicles (by class) they are decently priced for a safe, reliable vehicle.

No stop/start crap, push start, slipping 10-speed trans, cylinder deactivation, that's what they're making us pay for with new trucks no fuck that. Riding out in my 2016 5.0 forever, arsenal of tools ready if something ever breaks. Fuck them dealers.
Unless it's a hard to find car... used car sticker prices is obscenely overstated, because you never know if there's a sucker coming on the lot. I would think you can get at least -20% off whatever the used car sticker price. I would haggle for -30% off or more, and pay cash (no trade-in; or dealer financing). And if you want to play games, nego a super low price, agree to dealer financing and pay off the car after your first payment (be sure there's no prepayment penalties, and the cost of the first payment is factored into the deal price... since that first payment is almost all interest).
The problem for 2-4 year old used cars is they didn’t sell in normal numbers due to the WuFlu… Many people are seriously upside down, so they can’t trade… I’m my case, I have a ‘21 with $20,000 positive equity. I could trade it i , but why?? That’s lowering the supply of used cars… Used car demand is up because new cars are priced too high….
I just went by a Ford dealership today in the Phoenix AZ area to look at the Ranger Raptor. They had none in stock, but had around 5 coming in soon. 2 of them had a deposit on them. They are adding a $10,000 premium over the sticker and then about $3k in dealer add-ons. So now a $57,000 Raptor will be around $70k! Ridiculous! I just can't figure out how they can look you in the face with a smile and stab you in the back at the same time.
Unless there was no possibility of getting fuel for that vehicle you will never see that kind of discount. Even at 50k for a 100k truck they would sell out extremely fast.

All car dealers are the problem. You can purchase new direct from manufacturer. Auctions should be open to the public for used car purchases. It's way past time the public lobbied these unnecessary middle men into history.
When you do any activity you pay tax, if you can't sell something, you spike the price of what can be selled, because is an attempt to continue to stay in business instead of bankrupt. While this isn't good for the clients, facts, so reality, don't care. When this don't work, business close.
How are the manufacturer's supposed to get pricing down? Customer want everything and expect it to be cheap. Heavy Duty trucks are supposed to be work trucks. You buy a 2500 with a Cummings to make money. You get tax brake on it and you write it off as equipment. They were never meant to be Luxury trucks that ride like a Cadillac and still tow 8 million pounds. I've worked with dealership's. I remember being at a Dodge/Ram dealership in Montana. All the women who worked there said, that most guys buy these trucks and never really use them for their intended purposes (guys just want a big truck). The women were laughing at these guys. I'm sure some guys use them for work, like farmers.

I’m actually considering a Subaru Outback or a Forester as an alternative to a pick up. Full time AWD, long enough to haul some lumber, carpet, storm doors, hot water heater, small furniture and ect with the seats down, maybe add a hitch for a utility trailer.
Perfect example why dealers need to go the way of the car phone. Manufacturers can sell direct through the internet.
If I was buying a brand new '22-'23 when the '25's are rolling in, they would have to give me one helluva discount! I'm not interested in eating 2-3 years worth of depreciation the second I drive that car/truck off the lot, not to mention the potential problems you have with a car/truck that's been sitting in the lot for years not being driven... But if you look at any recent FRED charts, wages have been on a steep decline since mid-2022. With that said, auto manufacturers refuse to recognize that people's debt to income ratios don't make sense any more, particularly when many vehicles are well over $100,000.

I just can't figure out how they can look you in the face with a smile and stab you in the back at the same time.
When I see that $100k truck drop to $20k, I might consider having a look at it.
Unless there was no possibility of getting fuel for that vehicle you will never see that kind of discount. Even at 50k for a 100k truck they would sell out extremely fast.

Saw a dealership the other day, Sam Leman. I just thought "lemon" for a dealership name was funny 😄
"Square Deal Sam Leman" 🤣
Central Illinois??? Not like he has much competition.
Would love to have your advice
I have 2023 tesla model Y, I want to get rid of it and get Jeep wrangler 4*e
I am looking at carmax to trade my model Ywith 2021 4*e which is between 35-40k range
Would you recommend me anything else to look for while getting a jeep ?
Those Mavericks started in '21 at a base of $19,900 - 3 years later - what the hell happened??
Greed.
Capitalism, this country needs to capitalize on you, how else will we build the American dream?
They need to pay the Ford CEO $15 million a year!
Started at 20k now it starts at 24k. Considering the last 3 years its probably attributed to inflation, I wouldn't blame 40. 2022s inflation rate alone was 8%. Thats an $1800 required increasw for that year alone, and its not like they are making huge margins on them so the price needs to be raised.
@@zacharyshoemaker835 Not entirely true. It was 20k for the 40mpg hybrid. Now that's a major up charge.
Ridiculous pricing and dealer markups on vehicles no one wants. Bad build quality doesn't help.
I sold my 2021 rav4 hybrid prime xle for a 2009 Toyota sienna minni van. I got rid of that $850 a month payment! I saw the writing on the wall in 2021. So glad I did. I'd literally be eating bologna sandwiches right now. Just had another kid too man. Glad I got that van!
That’s great to hear!! Best feeling ever! Imagine that $850 for a freaking Rav4
Dang... My 750i cost $950/month...😬
I put no money down. Great credit. I was locked in at a good rate and just felt something in the air. Like it was all going to collapse. Those PUI payments killed this government. It all seemed like it was done on purpose
“I don’t speak KIA” I WISH I DIDNT EITHER😂. That made me chuckle
$20k off is a start, that plus 0% not either for but combined is where they need to be, but their greed won’t let it happen
Another video with facts and hard-hitting stats. I love it, keep up the good work.
Not many people realize 3:58 u will be forced to get your stelantis car fixed at the dealer as well since they don't let small shops have access to the computer system unless u pay a very expensive monthly charge..so u will be tied to them as long as u own that car...stay away from them!
Pricing is a problem? Ya think! And manuf. held back production to keep prices high. That is how much the unions care about you. Now with vehicles being over engineered, and manuf. Angling to preventing you from doing your own work gooood luck.
I just bought a 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport L in Platinum White Pearl for $36,000. MSRP is $39,600. Thanks, Costco and the local dealer who honored the price without trying to upsell me a single thing. I truly appreciate it.
You bought the most basic trim of a small suv for 36k.
@@RandomGamerCory you should have checked the Honda website before chiming in and showcasing your ignorance in an attempt to insult someone. Good luck.
@@DicksonMaimouth just assumed it was the same exact thing as a RAV4. Since Honda and Toyota are basically the same
@@RandomGamerCory Ok
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
@@DicksonMaimouthI mean 36k for any 5 seater SUV is pretty bad
Tried to buy a used car at a local new/used multi brand dealership....had a very good pre-approved loan set up. In the end the dealership could NOT MATCH the interest rate...their best rate was almost 2% higher, so naturally we said no way...then they REFUSED to sell us the car with the outside financing....
Went 20 miles up the road, found a similar car with less miles, did the deal, transfered the $$ and drove a car home.
Only difference from being a cash buyer was adding a lienholder to the title paperwork.
Brings up the question...are dealership showing prices that are losing $$$ amd expecting to make $$ on the loans?!
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 HD Laramie. According to the Ram website the same truck today would cost nearly $100,000. As much as I love the truck, I can't imagine paying that much for a new one. I'll hold onto this one!
I'm still driving my 2000 Ford Explorer. I just replaced the original transmission after 314,000 miles. It was still shifting fine but was leaking too much transmission fluid. The OHV 4.0 is still going strong and starts right up. It may be underpowered by 2024 standards with 160hp and 220 ft lbs of torque, but it weighs thousands of pounds less than new suvs so it keeps up just fine.
Used car dealers are part of the problem. When prices were high, they jacked up THEIR prices, too. Blaming the big dealerships is absurd. Same number of cars are available...but ALL car sellers got greedy.
Seems like EVERY industry, of both services and products, became VERY greedy during the pandemic. And the masses are now expected to keep them all in the monstrous profits business. Government Business Loans while businesses enjoying record breaking profits in oil, goods and services, autos, etc.
CEOs being paid $30 million a year, screwing up, and leaving with a $50 million dollar SEVERANCE PACKAGE hello Boeing I’m talking atcha! It’s global greed!
I will Paint and buy new tires on my 2012 Toyota Camry also my 2006 Toyota Tacoma it’s cheaper and reliable
Manufacturers need to streamline the models, base, standard and premium.
Paid off 2014 jeep patriot, almost done with my used 2011 ram 1500. Tough to think of what payments would be for these new cars.
Jeep could discount 50% off, i still wouldnt buy one
Many people do not have the money to pay for these vehicles.
In a previous video you mentioned a manufacturer producing a vehicle for around 25k, they would do very well.
Now they're starting to bleed.....but it's when they feel the pain that we will see REAL change..
We bought a travel trailer and I'm having second thoughts about using my 2017 Ram 1500 to pull it. I went to the Ram dealers in my area and the 2500 prices are insane!!!
Ripping off is over.. wake up
Local Ram dealer in Cookeville, TN FINALLY just starting putting 10k discounts on all their HD trucks. Still makes no difference given how much they still cost after the discount.
