I recently was at a train derailment exercise put on by the GoC. I didn’t know this before but if you want to transport dangerous goods in Canada you need to work with gfl to put a emergency response assistance plans (ERAP) in place. Not sure if this is a money make for them but they seem to be more than just a waste collection. Since then every where I look I’m seeing there bright green vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Thanks so much for the analysis!
GFL is my Peter Lynch stock. I left NA for couple years and when I got back the streets were covered with their big green trucks and ALL the garbage companies in my area were bought out by GFL as well as new landfills. I’m confident about it GFL in the coming future
Great analysis. Thanks!!
Great analysis and explanation for their TTM FCF and GPM. I have a small position in WM. Not many great deals right now but I may look into GFL after their upcoming Q4 earnings. Interested in your updated thoughts on Topicus and EQB, as well as Amazon, if you're ever inclined to do a video on either. All had a solid 2023.
Thanks! I'll probably revisit EQB soon
One major risk is the competition bureau. I worked up at a large construction site up in northern BC where we used a local environmental services company. GFL ended up acquiring them but it ended up getting rejected and the deal was purchased by a different company. It was a huge mess.
What do you think about the fact that GFL Environmental has some business with Dovigi's businesses? Some Payable Bonds and also some leases. Can be seen in 22. Note of the last annual report.
If they’re selling businesses, and require acquisitions to grow revenues- isn’t that counter intuitive? I think the #s of acquisitions used is too aggressive.
Depends on the businesses they're buying and selling. If the ones they're selling aren't adding much value and there's cost saving opportunities with the ones they're buying then that's just smart capital allocation
Makes sense. Delevering will probably get more smart money interested as well..
Could you do a backtest on stocks which had insider cluster buys?
I could, but our data only goes back like 2 years for insider transactions. So it wouldn't be a lengthy backtest

Used to work for them. They're bout to go under.
Time to short ? 🫰🫰
@investingsucks they're selling off branches to stay afloat. Not telling you what to do with your money but that's what's happening. Figured you might want to know.
But is this any different than what they were doing in the past which is selling off non core businesses to reduce debt and de-lever the business? They reported financial results very recently and there's no indication of impending bankruptcy so it seems highly unlikely
How are you feeling these days about it? LGTM?
Same as I was in the video
@@investingsucks bouta go all in here on it, your video has tipped me. I'll remember you if it goes somewhere
