- 6 Track Railroad Crossing In Auburndale, Florida! CSX Mixed Freight Train With Depressed Flat Cars & Amtrak Trains Including A Short Amtrak Chase. Phosphate Train In Bowling Green, Florida Going To The Quarry. Includes a rare, narrow cat walk built in the 1930s! with an alligator next to it.
The six track railroad crossing in Auburndale was closed for railroad maintenance but the gates and lights still activate for the trains as you will see. I got 2 different Amtrak trains and a CSX freight train while I was there. I left after filming the second Amtrak train and I accidentally beat it to a crossing so I was able to film it again. Then I drove to Lakeland but I was unable to catch it there on its way to Tampa. I did catch it coming back though and that will be in another video featuring Lakeland.
This video also shows a phosphate train at a gravel road railroad crossing in Bowling Green, Florida. The train was on a branch line that goes to a quarry and the line ends there. I actually filmed that train on a previous visit when I was at my moms home in Wauchula.
We also went to a huge park south of Wauchula and filmed a historic 1930s wooden cat walk that goes through the swamps. It is very narrow with a rail only on one side. We saw alligators there and other wildlife. That was my second time to be at that park. It costs about 6 or 7 bucks to enter that park. I remember going to that park years ago and seeing my first wild alligator.

I would like your views on what is going on with all of these N.S. derailment. 3 more since East Palestine. That is a lot in a very short time.
Not to mention the CSX derailment in West Virginia yesterday, train hit a rock slide the size of a bus.

You gotta catch the Bright Line train. Its privately owned and goes from Miami to West Palm Beach. Very beautiful looking train to.
Runs on some of and parallel to the FEC tracks.
Soon to be running all the way to Orlando airport..

Amtrak sleeper rooms are my favorite for cross-country. Undisturbed view during the day and nice rocking you to sleep at night. I wish they could get their act together in terms of reliability, is all.
That six-track crossing in Auburndale, Florida looks like a wonderful place to watch trains. You might know this already but until the end of the 1980's, Amtrak used to run north of the diamond towards the Wildwood Subdivision in Coleman. Today, you have two rail trails and a long abandoned right of way.

That first freight train had a nice rebuild in the lead position :) A nice phosphate train - it's interesting that phosphate is used in so many commercial applications. I still think you need to be careful around those gators :)
The 'gators in South Carolina, swampy Charleston County, Low-Country, around Navy Housing where I used to live had a low, gutteral, good vibe resonnating from them that'd terminate with what sounded like

Oh wow! That is a cool place. I have been through Bartow many times. The Bartow cheerleaders are known nationally. I go through there on my way to the Wauchula and Avon City areas

That first location was an excellent stop especially with the big Crossing as well as yard tracks and spurs. A great phosphate train with the 2 SD40S but boy do those cars get dirty. Can't help but think you misread the map maybe you thought it was Bowling Green KY not FL b
Between yesterday's wallboard cars and today's Lumber cars it still shows how much rebuilding is going on after the last hurricane. You and Mrs Tooth be careful on that Narrow Gauge walkway

The first Amtrak train (#97) was the Silver Meteor & that was a typical length of 9 cars for that train & not too long. The Palmetto train service goes between New York City & ends in Savannah, GA. It doesn't go into FL. Train #92 is the Silver Star & goes northbound & not southbound. I've been on those trains about 25-30 roundtrips over the last 15 or so years. I liked it better when the sleepers were in front of the train because it was a smoother ride but Amtrak changed that several years ago because passengers complained about the horn during night crossings. You're probably back in Ohio but if you're still in FL, you should go down to West Palm and take the Brightline between there & Miami. Their business class is a nice service.

I think the other railroads are all stepping up on track work in lite of the Ohio derailment. I don't think they'd wanna be in NS shoes.

Yeah, in spite of what some people say, that's not dead track. You saw all the cars parked there. I used to live right by there that's what some people call the Auburndale sub. It has two main lines and four sidetracks. Those are maintained since they are service entrances into various business entities.

That last AmTrac was the same one you watched just before you moved. The engines had 10 and 113 on them. The must have stopped and somehow you got in front of them again
