  • Norfolk Southern Train On CSX Bridge With Union Pacific Locomotive! Indiana & Ohio Railway Train With Central Railroad Of Indiana Running Long Hood Forward! CSX Train Leaving Railroad Yard In Elmwood Place, Cincinnati, Ohio. There are 5 trains in this video that were all filmed in Cincinnati and northern Kentucky.
First we see a CSX mixed freight at an awesome railroad crossing in Elmwood Place. This is a steep crossing that has been corrected but semi trucks are not supposed to use.
Next we see an Indiana And Ohio Railway gondola train leaving Queensgate Yard on CSX tracks that are also shared by Norfolk Southern and Amtrak. Awesome to see the locomotive running long hood forward! It has been a long time since I filmed that locomotive.
Then we see a Norfolk Southern train in the same spot with a Union Pacific locomotive in the consist. That train is headed to Gest Street Yard which adjoins Queensgate Yard behind Union Terminal.
Next we head across the river to Crescent Springs, Kentucky. Another locomotive running long hood forward. This is a short local switching freight train heading down the hill to Ludlow, Ky.
The last train is also in Crescent Springs, Kentucky just a mile south of the previous train. It is heading down the hill into Ludlow also. This is the spot with the small free library where I drop off train magazines. Lol
Which train is your favourite and why? Please leave a comment below.
Filmed Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

I looked up the stats on Erlanger Hill. It`s 7 miles long and has a grade of 1.3%. That`s close to 16 inches of rise in every 100 feet of track.

And that Scott is called the “ ruling grade” which each operating subdivision has that determines the needed horsepower/tonnage ratio and they have to consider in the weight of any ( dead engines in tow )…..,👍~~~

Supervideo! Ohio Central System SD (w/o dynamic) a great catch, long hood forward too...seems to be a theme...the NS pulling the 32 cars in same pose, like back in the day. Intermodal train "without end" interesting too - Matlack Tank'tainers that you don't see often...Brandy happy as ever...Chessie and the horse having a chat? Slideshow too. Great way to wind down a week with a cup of joe and this awesome video. Thanks, JT....

The interesting car at 12:37 appears to have 4 compartments & 4 filler domes. I can't quite make out the numbers on the Placards but there also is 4 of them. Great catch, I've never seen one before.
As always JT, great video & thanks for withstanding the cold weather to bring these to us.

Correct -- each compartment may, in principle, be carrying a different substance, so each one has its own placard. I can't read them, either, though.

They look loaded from the springs. It's 27 or 28 cars, so about 3,500 tons max. Not crazy for a 3000hp locomotive on level track, as long as they don't want it to go fast.
