Super Bowl Sunday but first time for the Super Rail activity. Chapter 1. The train that emptied Indiana. A true mix of power and Freight cars. That off blue boxcar marked CRLE is from Michigan Shortline Coe Rail. Those marks were on many a Goldenwest Service before it was discontinued. Somewhat later was an obscure boxcar marked GRRY which stands for Great Lakes Central Port Ry. The sad rust bucket rolling through Hamilton was OFOX that started life as Minneapolis Northfield and Southern it's Rusty and twisted emblem still adorning it. No longer hauling grain but rather phosphates it's still holding up well. A tail tussle between Norfie and Chessie helps one laugh for the day. Play ball!
JT! Thanks for the Sunday Morning Viseo ….and for sticking to it, despite the wind. Your study of the movement of the Hamilton Station has been great. Happy SuperBowl Sunday to Norfie and Chessie. Keep them coming. 700+ axles. Awesome.
Oh nice, good to see the depot is in its new spot, the move was successful. Wow it sure was windy, you must have had several days of that. Awesome windy video !! 👍🤣👍
Great catches from Hamilton OH. The yards have to be emptied now. Sweet new Apple Monitor, Norfie is livin life large, never met a cat that doesn’t like a cardboard box!😂 ❤
Hey Jaw Tooth. Keep the videos coming they are great! Could I suggest you get a windsock for your phone/camera, then you won't have to apologise for the wind all the time ;-). I see they are available all over the states when I look on-line from here in New Zealand. Cheers Brendon
The hopper you called a cool old rust bucket at 18:56 is a former Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern (MNS) car. It was nicknamed "The Dan Patch Line" after a famous racehorse in the early 1900s from Minnesota. If memory serves about 1980 was the end of the MNS and was divided up among several Class I lines. A shortline Progressive Rail (PGR) operates on part of the old MNS network and has several locomotives and a Bay window caboose in the MNS paint scheme.
Cool video, Next time, please can you get some close up shots of the defect detetor huts, and what is used to detect the defaults at track level or whatever. Thanks !
JT! Once again you've put out an awesome video and I'm sure that all of us really appreciate al the work you put into them. I've never seen a building being moved from one place to another until the Hamilton Station video that was great.
@@charlottecunningham2141 Yes the weather radar showed a low pressure area in your region.. I guess it will be up here in a couple days.. Thanx for the note..
Hey JawTooth and Mrs JawTooth 👍 Another AWESOME video I've noticed from other You Tube videos That in other Countries They don't enclose the car carriers Like they do in America
As always awesome job on the live action my friend. Did you hear about derailment down in Palestine Ohio. That was about 50 or more cars involved in that. Had to vacate the tiny village but no injuries was reported in it.
That station move was awesome! It looks like it has been in the new location forever now :) That last train emptied about all of the yard. Too long for those two engines, so I assume it was a local or a feeder.
Great job Joe tooth! Very enjoyable and informative as usual!!! I was reading online about a cheap way to reduce wind noise on your phone. You simply take a cotton ball and tape it over the microphone of your phone with a small piece of tape. I haven’t tried it yet but I’ll bet that would’ve served you well for this video!
Great vid Brian. As for hand-held radios, there are many good choices for this. I would recommend the Baofeng GT-3TP Mark III. $30, they work great, and I've been using them for years. One thing with these cheap Chinese knock-offs, is getting the proper squelch range programmed so you're not listening to plenty of "hash". There are also many other models to choose, both cheap and expensive. Being both a HAM and GMRS operator for 30+ years, I could make a long list... Best to all and happy railroading
Hey JT, I like the videos, maybe you could do a video with defect detectors only. Like the pets at the end and their antics. Take care and have a good one. Mike Lane in Dallas
Great good video, mr Jaw Tooth. Thanks for the train station update in Hamilton Ohio, yes it was windy🌬️ when you made this video. Thanks that you let see the trains how passing Hamilton Ohio, but whatever you do and go be careful and hold 7 feet distance from the rail next against you Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands 🇾🇪🇺🇸.
I think (just my opiniom) they are ugly. I wish/waiting for one day if Scaletrains will make a CSX SD40-2 normal cab, with the CSX boxcar scheme, not a spongebob...
Bought that same radio on your recommendation. It's my first radio and I'm very happy with it when I'm within range. No reception at home (only 2 miles from the NS line in PA but with large hills between) but I can hear the same frequency coming over the web. Gives me a heads-up a train is coming. (Not a lot of traffic on this single track mainline so sitting there and waiting for a train isn't an option.) Maybe everyone knows that many railroads' radio transmissions are fed live over the internet but it was a big deal when I learned that! Helped me to actually see trains that I only could hear from my house in the past. Looking forward to using the radio when I go back to chasing trains along the Hudson River in NY this spring.
A fine addition to your collection, cheri, but tell me, how many years did it require for Mrs. JAW TOOTH, to adapt to your voluminous schedule of train-spotting adventures ?
I believe the railroads must have operation restrictions in place for double stack trains in case of strong winds and or storms - that wind could derail a stack train and make a lot of trouble. That beautiful blue box car you caught on one of your trains had me hoping that it was a Rock Island railroad car from back 50 years ago, but it did not have the Rock Island logo on it - one can only hope for the best. That moved railroad station looks like it will get some TLC before it is opened for visitors. Thanks for the great shots !
Thank you for another entertaining video of trains in the Hamilton, Ohio area, Jaw Tooth! I appreciated the fact that you went over to the new location of the Hamilton, Ohio depot. It is nice to see that the depot has been taken off the "cart" that was used to transport each of the sections of the depot to its new location. I was really hoping to see how the Wolfe Company removed the "cart" from under the depot sections and how Wolfe Company lowered the sections of the depot to the ground. I would think that a video of the depot sections being lowered to the ground would be fascinating to watch. I wonder if the two sections of the depot will be re-joined by brick walls and a roof like it was in its previous location. I hope that you will look in on the depot restoration project on future visits to Hamiton, Ohio.
Great video. Station moving. Detectors. Norfie and Chessie. Maybe I missed it but how did Norfolk Southern miss the defect in E Palestine that resulted in rail calamity?
Watching this from England. Amazing the length of the trains. Makes it easier for the train hoppers to get on. Question. When did the signal boxes and the mechanical signals go out?
Good Morning! Thanks for a look at the Hamilton depot.
