- The Railroad Wye With Aerial View Of Train Going Under Me On Bridge. Dangerous Railfan Location. Train Appears Out Of Tunnel In Kentucky City & Close Look At Steel Railroad Ties Track. The Steel Ties are very interesting. Look how they stack on each other. These trains are all in Covington, Kentucky on CSX tracks. My new dog is in the video near the end before the slide show. We got a male puppy on Monday, May 15, 2023 and you will see him for the first time the same time that Chessie, Norfie, Brandi and I saw him.
The first train is at KC Junction. It is a southbound CSX local freight. Notice the artwork on the side of the electrical shanty. It looks like the type that Banksy does. Wouldn't that be awesome if it was?! None of these areas in this video are good Railfan spots. There are a lot of trains since several CSX lines come into one right here but the area has a lot of crime. It's a lot safer if you are not alone. I recommend staying near your vehicle and not staying very long. People walk down the tracks and across the tracks all the time so be alert.
The next train is a westbound CSX freight coming into the wye. We see it go under me on a pedestrian bridge that is really an abandoned auto bridge. This is the same bridge that a man was robbed of 6 dollars on and shot about 9 months ago. It happened right in the middle of the day so that is a concern. The view is great but stay alert and don't stay too long. Don't keep any valuables in your car. Anyway, the view of the train going under was awesome! You can see right into the open hopper and gondola cars.
Then I returned to the tunnel since I knew a train was due. We see the track that is about to be replaced. Have you ever seen track like this with steel railroad ties? We also get to see the new 136 pound rail up close. This tunnel is actually in the city of Covington. A man with a long ponytail walked through the tunnel and about a minute later a CSX southbound auto racks train with a rear DPU came by. This train veered off onto the CSX Short Line in Latonia and then went through LaGrange on its way to Louisville, Kentucky. I left immediately after filming that train. This is the same tunnel that I filmed a girl walking through while a train was passing by on the other track. People walk through this tunnel all the time just like it is a trail or something. I am not about to say anything to them. Next, I went over to where the Wilder branch ties in to the CSX line about a mile south of the tunnel. I heard a train on my scanner at that location. I missed that train. It came through and stopped at Decoursey Yard. The lights at a railroad crossing were activated when that train started moving again at the yard. I filmed them as you can see. At this point I headed over to my friend Steves' farm to catch a train. Shout out to Alex who has a birthday on May 17!

I agree with you there brother. I have a concealed weapon permit ( CWP ) and it’s good in most states the one state I would really utilize it when I go to visit would be Illinois which is my home state I’m now retired and Live in South Carolina of course Illinois has always been ass backwards.
I never leave my house without heat. Here in Ohio, you don’t need CC permit anymore.

@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars Thats true. The wye in this video would be perfect for a viewing platform if it was a safe area. The crime rate in the area keeps the railfans away. I've only filmed in this area a handful of times but have already had a few odd things happen. An intoxicated person wanted to get in my video, I had a guy throw a baggie with a white powder in it next to me, I had a mentally challenged person yelling at me and I filmed that girl walking down the track with a train passing on the other track. Oh, I also had that guy walk in front of an approaching train. There is a sober living facility right there at the wye so maybe that will help. lol
Its ok J.T. we understand if you would just stay safe and record only where it is safe and avoid this bad area, you have many good safe places to do your videos, we care about you and want you to remain safe God be with You friend.

Sad to hear of Sophie passing. Hope the new puppy will be a blessing to your home, just as she was. Japanese rail on steel ties going into the tunnel! We have lots of steel ties in the UK and they seem to be doing a good job. They tamp well as the rolled over ends grip the stone ballast and pack tightly. Those in the video look to be galvanised which should extend their life in the damp conditions of the tunnel.
Thanks for the video but keep yourself safe. No sense getting robbed or injured or worse just to get shots of trains in a different location. Look after yourself, the pets need their master! We also want to see more of your videos.

Sorry to hear about losing Sophie, I know she was a blessing to all of you, and I know from my own loss of my best friend, it hurts, but seeing your little bundle of fur, he’s so cute, that should help ease the pain but that hole in your heart is still there, Sophie will be missed. By the way, in Google Street view, that bridge has the streetview car footage going across it in 2007, but once off the bridge, the view reverts to more recent footage from 2014 which shows the bridge already closed to traffic by then.
