  • Locomotive Pushes Train Up THE Hill & Then Cuts Off Train Right In Front Of Me! Train Surprises Kids On Track, Railroad Shoo-Fly & Construction Zone Update, Men On Tower While Train Passes & Train Goes Under Me! If This Video Ain't Got It, You Don't Need It! Norfolk Southern railroad with Union Pacific And Burlington Northern Santa Fe Locomotives. Listen to the hard working locomotives under me as they move a train from a total stand still to track speed. These trains are in Kentucky on the NS Rat Hole Line.
We revisit the old railroad shoo-fly zone. All kinds of construction is going on. We see the new railroad bridge, new highway bridge, hill removal and road construction in full swing. The shoo-fly track has been gone now for a few months but I filmed a couple of fast trains passing at both ends of the zone. This is Richwood, Kentucky.
Next we go a couple of miles north on the line to see another fast train with a BNSF locomotive. The train is passing a cell tower with 2 men on the very top of it. Look how high up they are as the train passes. I heard people talking and looked up to see them up in the sky. This is Florence, Kentucky.
Then we continue going north on this same line to Elsmere, Kentucky. 3 kids were walking on the tracks when a train came around the curve and surprised them. One kid went to the right and the other two went to the left. The train cut between them and then stopped for over an hour. The train was waiting for a huge train that was coming up the hill out of the Ohio River valley. That train stopped right next to me and cut off the manned helper unit that shoved it up the hill. We see that locomotive leave so that it can be ready to push another train up the hill.
I knew the stopped train would leave after the pusher got out of the way. I drove about a mile north to catch the train going under me on Garvey Avenue in Elsmere. Listen to the locomotives as they pull the train past me. They sound really awesome with all the power working hard.
This video took me about 7 hours to film. It was a full day. I get asked all the time how I know when trains are coming. Well, I don't know. I just show up and hope for the best. There are no schedules. I put about 140 miles on my truck and wait and wait. Lol. It takes patience and sometimes I strike out. My biggest strike outs were in Virginia and Pennsylvania . I spent over 2 days waiting for a daylight train at Natural Tunnel, Virginia and 2 days waiting for a street running train in East Brownsville, Pennsylvania and went home with nothing on both trips so it does happen. Radios and luck are what you need. Maybe I should do a video on that.
Filmed Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

It was nice to see what has been happening at the construction project in Ringwood, Kentucky, Jaw Tooth! The road construction crews have been busy on the highway bridge next to the railroad bridge. It looks like the road that will go under the two bridges is the new alignment for Richwood Road. The new highway bridge will re-route U.S. Highway 25 over the new alignment for Richwood Road. I appreciate the fact that you were able to capture the manned helper train disconnecting from the southbound mixed freight at Elsmere, Kentucky. I was curious as to how the pusher engine was disconnected from the train it was assisting.
