I feel like they are always saying "This is our last Godzilla film" lol
Same as the Friday the 13th film series LOL.
Godzilla is one of those cultural icons that will be around and persist long after all of us commenting here are gone. He and his legacy will never die.
kind of true some of the staff of the film will not apear again or appeared again but with a long time gap.
2:00 Let's be real, This scene is the only reason Gorosaurus gained any form of notoriety other than being a T-Rex stand in for King Kong Escapes.
I love how he's strong enough to break Ghidorah's back, while Godzilla isn't.
The REAL Infinity War
Section GamingPlus better ending than endgame at the least, and Godzilla doesn’t get a beer gut like a sustain god of thunder
Fewer plot holes too!
Then what's equivalent for endgame
I figured final wars was equivalent to endgame
I will make another one and it will be greater than everyone before it! It’s called Godzilla: The Monster War
The kaiju Equivalent of the Avengers and one of my favorite Godzilla movies
Nah, Ghidrah was the Avengers. This was Endgame!
The original final wars!
Yes
I remember really enjoying the human story quite a lot as a kid. Had more action and suspense than I was used to seeing in Godzilla vs. Megalon or the Sea Monster, and especially Revenge of Godzilla. My early childhood collection was the small number of VHS we got as gifts, so at the time this seemed awesome. Will have to revisit this classic soon and probably laugh at the plot, but either way I agree it's an absolute classic
It’s a travesty with VHS 📼 & DVDs 📀 these days … they’re viewed as worthless garbage …
The trailer for Destroy All Monsters was on television when I was a little boy. I had no idea it was a Japanese film and it was the first time I saw a Godzilla, but I didn’t recognize him. I was too impressed with the scenes of city destruction and monster mayhem to even care. When the offscreen narrator says, “Now playing at a theater near you! Don’t miss it!”
I didn’t have the money to go to the movies at that time. But I was very fortunate to see DAM on television late one night and again on a Saturday afternoon on WPIX-11. It is one of my favorite Godzilla movies. Godzilla looked great in this film. Akira Ifukube’s score was very memorable.
I see you're a New Yorker too. I remember watching this as a child. When they showed Godzilla attacking New York, my mom said that he blew up where she worked in lower Manhattan, after he destroyed the United Nations.
@@BrotherDerrick3X Wharton, New Jersey. That’s where I am originally from. Now I am currently residing in Florida and want to come back. Snow and all. Thank God for DVDS/Blu-Ray.
I remember us being excited when the previews were shown when I was a 10 year old, and we were as excited as can be when we went to the actual movie! All those monsters together, and then here comes Gidorah, the 3 headed flying monster. We were hype!
A great highlight reel of all the Showa era had to offer. This movie is a must watch... If you can find a copy.
As a kid i was always mesmerized by the trailers for Gunhead, Alita, and Evangelion that showed before the film started
King Ghidorah: Why you bully me
3:53 Slowest action scene ever with that intense music lmao.
I know right ! and it goes on and on and on ! haha
I would like to see TOHO remake this movie as a part of their upcoming "World of Godzilla" cinematic universe. As long as it doesn't have an alien invasion plot like D.A.M. or Final Wars and have the monsters attack cities world wide of their own free will. That would be refreshing to see.
How the hell do you stop them if that's the plot lol
I mean there's only so much humans can take
Or... Alien Invasion Plot, but Ghidorah is leading it, and he brought his friends Gigan, Megalon, and Orga (who evolves into Spacegodzilla, because sure).
Two things that annoy in kaiju-related comment sections: "I hope X would be in Monsterverse" and "They need to remake this movie"
One of my all time favorite GODZILLA movies. Everything about this movie was good.
Well the fact they were going to include Kong, Maguma, Ebirah, Sanda, Gaira and Kamacuras in the film, it was going to be weird.
I wouldn't have minded seeing Maguma and Kamacuras. The others, definitely weird choices.
Growing up few films gave me as much pleasure as Destroy All Monsters. It was like Jurassic Park, Independence Day and Star Wars rolled into one. Your criticisms are certainly valid. However the thin characterizations were obviously pared down to ensure the film moved at a rapid foregrounding action and spectacle. In a way it anticipates Michael Bay's strategy with the Transformers films only with considerably more charm. As you say the tone is celebratory.
I was fortunate to see DAM on a double bill with Dogora in an actual movie theater outside of Albany NY. It must have been a Saturday matinee and as a kid I was very unimpressed by Dogora.
I'm old enough to remember movies like this and Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster being advertised on TV as "Saturday and Sunday Matinees Only."
@@VonWenk save the earth 🌏
One of my all time favorite movies !
You know, it's pretty interesting to see just how people from past decades thought the future would be. I mean, here's this film, talking about how advanced the 90's would be, and I'm just sitting here shaking my head over it. Kudos for the optimism, I guess ;)
I just rewatched this and was surprised to see it grew on me. I used to rank this one middle of the pack to lower.
I really want anguirus and goro to be more popular like mothra and ghidorah
Great video! This movie came out in the year of my birth and I've always loved it.
I like in this film how the humans actually are able to hold their own and have agency in the conflict, the SY3 being the representation of human will to power matching the forces of the Kaiju...although the monsters being controlled on Monster Island is a bit melancholic...
The monsters weren't controlled on Monster Land by humanity, they had only managed to contain them and have proper preventative measures in place to keep them from escaping.
The gas was able to drive the monsters who couldn't fly back onto the island while there was an electromagnetic dome around the island that prevented Varan and Rodan (and eventually Mothra if she cocooned) from leaving.
The monsters after defeating Ghidorah and the Kilaaks went back to Monster Land of their own accord.
Even gorosaurus had his moments in this movie.review is spot on.
I'm sorry, but this is the best movie that has ever been made. The theme song haunts me to this day. Sure, there is some bad acting, but when I was eight years old, the Keelaks scared the heck out of me
this was like my favorite movie as a kid
In my opinion, this is the best crossover that Toho has ever had.
This is the movie I most associate that lead actor with (with Matango a close second). I found this movie a lot more entertaining than Godzilla: Final Wars. The biggest problem I always had with this movie was that I didn't understand why Mothra was on Monster Island and, as I've grown older, did the nations of Earth gun down all her followers to capture her?
Destroy All Monsters is Awesome!!
When I was a kid there was a show
Called "Creature double Feature"
Which shows all sci movies
And all the Toho stuff
This movie was the crown jewel
In my opinion At That time and fast
Toward 2021 We are about too see
Another Godzilla movie,,
What a great idea they had to
Create "Godzilla
I always wondered if the technology to control the monsters by 1999 came from their experiences with the Xilians, and the Mysterions as that's also cannon
This is my favorite Godzilla design no joke, he looks like the Cookie Monster lol
This poor suit starts falling apart by Gigan 😁
4:56 Anguirus, the Kaiju honey badger!
What's pretty cool is that Anguirus and the perfectly preserved nodosaur found in Canada, the species that Anguirus is modeled after, look very much alike after all.
*Pawn has the King!*
*Bishop has the King!*
*GANG BANG!*
*All for the King!*
As always, awesome review! Do you record the footage from Toho’s Japanese Blu Rays? The image quality is really good here.
Indeed I do!
Awesome, I’m collecting them at the moment. I also have other Toho Movies that are not from the Godzilla series like War of the Gargantuas, Atragon and The Mysterians on Blu Ray.
poor Veran and Baragon both are barely in the film
Yeah. Unfortunately the Varan suit became too degraded for them to use and all they had was his flight prop, that's why he gets so little screen time.
Baragon I don't understand too much as to why his screen time got cut, his suit was clearly still in working order as we do see full suit shots of him.
Avengers?! Justice League?! pfft, Please Toho did it first!!!
The best Godzilla movie ever...
It would have been interesting to see Kong, Sanda, Gaira and Ebirah, who were in the original script included.
Has anybody ever thought that Godzilla: final wants was just a remake of Destroy all monsters? Random thought lol
Destroy all Monsters, Final Wars, KOTM. I sense a recurring theme?
Basically the avengers for g fans!
Ah yes. The Infinity War/Endgame of Godzilla universe.
You call this 'Destroy All Monsters'
I call this 'Godzilla: Endgame'
Toho should do a remake or part two to it with less human drama or the space ship bullshit and give king ghildrah some help or have mind control over other monsters to help him
I figure he should get Gigan, Megalon, Orga (who later becomes Spacegodzilla), and maybe hijack Mechagodzilla
Yeah I thought the human plot and characters weren’t good. Sad because it has some of the best monster scenes
Monsters party like it's 1999!🤣
"Marvel is the best cinematic Universe"
This masterpiece
I LOVE this movie! ;)
I found Destroy All Monsters to be entirely underwhelming and actually liked the fight in Ghidora: the Three Headed Monster better. I'm glad this wasn't really the end as that would have been a poor send off.
Honestly I don't think this would've been the best Send Off to Godzilla. It's not bad by any stretch but it is far from the best Godzilla movie. One of the films biggest problems are the human characters. They are very dull and unfortunately they get a lot of screentime, also the fact that some monsters only get a couple brief cameos, also Minilla is even worse in this movie, and the biggest criticism of this film however is that even though the film is called Destroy All Monsters none of the monsters even get a lot of screentime and there isn't even a lot of monster action. What does truly saves the film though from being a bore is the action. While this film doesn't have a lot of action, the action it does have is really really good, the special effects also has some amazing special effects. Especially the scene where Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Manda attack Tokyo. The music is definitely great as well and the film has one of the best fights in the entire framchise, the fight where all the monsters gang up on King Ghidorah. And while the fight is only about 5 minutes, those 5 minutes are definitely the best part of the movie. So while great when focusing on the monsters, dull when focused on the humans. I will give this film a 6.7/10.
Do you think you can upload some sound effects if the movie on google drive since you own a 5.1 audio copy of the film?
I wouldnt call it an avengers version for kaiju because some if the monsters barely do anything on screen (no fault of them) and they all fight ghidorah which is like yea did anyone expect him to win. But what do I know I haven't seen this movie in ages.
Considering it took three monsters to defeat him in his first two movies, it seemed like a reasonable idea.
This movie is awesome
I love this movie
I saw this on Tubi I need to get it on DVD 📀
The brief section where it turns into a gorgeously shot spy thriller is interesting, but unfortunately that only lasts a few minutes. The rest of the human stuff is *so* dull
The original Infinity War
I wish someone would do a "Destroy All Monsters" for B-list and obscure/forgotten monsters: Gamera, Yongary, Reptilicus, Gorgo, The Giant Claw, Gappa, Pulsagari, etc.
As awesome the monsters are yes there's not much action with them and most of them are just cameos just sad I would love ro see varan and baragon stand next to godzilla
Yes. A very good movie. As long as you only count the monsters. Which is what we are for anyways right? lol.
I hope the monsterverse try's to end's up with destroy all monsters the be the monsterverse end gema or infinity
hey if they do what marvel did with infinity war and end game they might try it with a two part movie
Good movie! I own a lot of the series on old Betamax Tape. Do you have a favorite? Greetings from Germany!
Aside from the original and Shin Godzilla, my favorite has got to be Godzilla vs. Biollante. Very looked over Godzilla film. Thanks for watching!
@@UpFromTheDepths88 Oh! Thanks for your reply! Yes, Godzilla vs Biolllante is a very interesting movie with some famous actors in Japan. This one was often in the German free TV. I have 5 Top favorites and just two or three wich I dislike.... I like Godzilla vs the Smog Monster. ( of course I am the only one;-) Our Version in Germany if different from the Original and the US one. Godzilla vs Mothra is very good too. In my country the names of the Monsters are always almost different, even the names of the actors. A few are even strong cut, for example Godzilla vs Gigan (1971). Friendly Greetings again!
Is this the movie the "Destroy all Monsters Melee" is based on?
Ok I just watched this one on Crackle. Maybe I saw an edited version, but there were monsters referenced/mentioned/seen but not involved in any real action. Baragon was mentioned but missing from the final battle, and then there was some wingless monster I am unfamiliar with who descends from the sky like a superhero before the big melee at the end and then isn't seen again until the very end, when it is shown taking off up into the sky again. Who was that and was this movie chopped up or something?
Can someone please explain how Gorosaurus was a burrowing monster despite no arms? I've been confused for 45 years now.
Baragon was originally supposed to appear in that scene, but the suit was too badly damaged so they used Gorosaurus instead.
he uses his head
@@tarnetskygge Actually the Baragon suit they used was a new suit but when trying to do the scene the ears kept getting caught and they couldn't get the shot they wanted so they used Gorosaurus instead.
Well actually I think Godzilla The Series: Monster Wars does this story better.
I like it
Don’t @ me
Ishiro honda forgot king kong
I believe at that point, Toho lost their license to use King Kong.
You gave son of Godzilla 4 stars ? And only 3 to destroy all monsters . crazy . I agree with most of these reviews and live this mini series just son of Godzilla I hate so much lol . I agree destroy all monsters should only get 3 stars but son of Godzilla to me is a one star . but great job great video iam like 10 in and loving this review mini series of all godzilla films . good job 👍
What can I say, I find Son of Godzilla very entertaining haha
Respect
I thought it was 1991 not 1999.
If only Varan and Baragon had more screen time. Of course I know why that didn't happen, but still. Also, the movie put too much focus on that spaceship than the monsters.
Why... was it because of the deterioration of the suits? I read somewhere that they had issues with the Varan suit during its original filming.
@@2003zq8 I read that too. Same goes for Baragon.
The reveal of the mysterious flying monster being a disguised spaceship is one of my favorite parts of this movie.
bruh i said speak english in this movie
He is, you have to understand in order for you to enjoy it, maybe watch a less mature review. these reviews are suppose to walk through highlights of the Godzilla series.
The monster action is great, but I found the human scenes insufferably boring
Some people say Final wars disrespected the legacy of Godzilla, but this one did it worse.
Barely any Kaiju action for the so called "Final Godzilla movie" and it had bland human characters. This is the worst monster mash movie so far.
I don't think it's severely lacking in storyline at all. I say you're dead wrong on that. DESTROY ALL MONSTERS is an awesome film👍. You are not 👎.
Avengers endgame, pfft
I think this is messy made shitty godzilla film except for maybe the final battle.
This is the definition of a overrated movie
