I just bought a Total Gym Apex 3 and I want to tell you David just how much I greatly appreciate your videos. The way you demonstrate the exercises and the way you have organized your playlists have been tremendous in helping me understand how to get the most out of this equipment, and inspiring me to incorporate fitness into my life. Thank you so much!
Thank you David I just came across your Chanel and hands down the best total gym explanation from how to easily set up and how to use each attachment. I look forward to working out with you going forward 👏🏻
Thank you, David. I’m a newbie to the TG, and your videos are truly wonderful. I have learned a lot from them, and m starting beginner tutorials. I’m 70, so lots of moves feel awkward, and I feel so uncoordinated. But just taking your videos slowly, at my own speed, little by little I can feel some confidence growing. I found a brand-new Fit on FB marketplace, perfect except for a barely-perceptible little bend in the steel near the top of the column. And the training deck is missing, but the cards are there, along with the rest of the attachments normally included with it. It’s all brand new. It was listed for $120! I am enjoying learning on it and feeling more energized. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful videos and care with us!
David, yours is fast becoming one of our favorite youtube channels. My wife and I are in our 60s and love your instructional videos. Your buyer's guide video was instrumental in our decision to purchase a refurbished FIT model off ebay. After watching this video I can't wait to try out our ab crunch attachments and leg pulley system that we've been procrastinating learning how to use. We used your links to order the tricep ropes, pilates bar and weight bar. It was a little disappointing that we couldn't purchase just the FIT pilates bar alone since we already have the rest of the leg pulley system, but I'm sure having the bar will be worth it. We also invested in the chrome handles (since they put us into the free shipping category) so I hope you receive some credit on those too. Thanks so much for your fantastic videos!!!
Thank you. I just found your channel. I have had my TG for a year but never figured out some of the attachments. I’m off to go watch more of your videos. And to buy a few things from your links.
I have the XLS one-piece wing attachment. Of 6 possible positions, normal movement of the board is only possible when the wing is placed above the squat board pointing downward (squat board must be removed). Great video!
Thank you. This video is so complete. It helped me to understand better the variations I can use my accessories and to realize which ones I still need to acquire.
Very thorough and demonstrated meticulously in regards to sharing the fundamentals of creating full body workouts in a pleasent setting, Thank You so much David for this guidance in getting the most out of my Total Gym with an Ectomorphic body type
David, Wife and I recently bought a Total Gym Apex G5. We found your video to be Informative and Helpful, Very Good demonstration on the accessories and their range of uses. Thank You.
Hello David, thank you so much for your excellent demonstration. Years ago, I had gotten the total gym XLS. It was down my basement where I used it religiously. I had to relocate my total gym to my main living area. Long story short, it began to take its toll on the piece of equipment and I no longer felt safe using it. The safety clip isn’t fitting secure as it once was. I was concerned so last year I purchased the total gym summit model. I love this model yet I haven’t used it as much as I had been using the XLS. I fractured my wrist last year while doing yard work so for me, my new total gym summit was put on hold. I’ve recently gotten back into the total gym regime. Your videos are very informative as well as encouraging. I’ve learned different routines by watching you and now I’m more excited and motivated to begin once again. Thank you so much for sharing. Please have an enjoyable and safe weekend. Warmest regards always and blessings. 🙏🎹🎶🎼💫✨🕊
Thank you so much for your kind words! Happy to know that the videos are helping, and glad to hear you are feeling better and ready to get back to the Total Gym! Best of luck!
Thanks! Been trying to workout more and the attachments have just been collecting dust. I'm going to dust them off and give them all a good testing thanks to your video!
Great video and great idea to showcase all of the different attachments. I have all of them except for the triceps rope (I bought a cheaper rope that is one piece so it can't be split into two like yours does). I agree with your general ranking of the attachments from 1 to 9. The weight bar comes in handy for lower body exercises to increase the resistance/weight level. I didn't know that you had a whole stretching playlist and a 20 minute routine until I heard you mention it in this video, just checked it out and it is awesome. Will be trying it out this week. Have you considered doing a 30 minute full pilates workout video similar to your other full body workouts? You have a great teaching style! I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use the rope and leg extensions with the Toe Bar and putting all the techniques into a full workout routine/session. Also, was wondering if you had any thoughts on the Cyclo Trainer 2 attachment?
Hi, Charles - Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked the video and hope you enjoy my stretch video. I am working on some ideas for a video that is entirely leg pulley exercises. Hopefully I can get that together and published soon. I own the CycloTrainer 2 and thought about including it in this video but decided not to. I may do a separate review. I've had it for about a year now and don't find myself using it very often. Part of the issue is I own a Encompass/GTS which is my primary machine. And although I can use it with the GTS, it is a little more cumbersome and barely fits in my space when I have it attached to the end of the GTS. I know there are people who absolutely love it. I'm kind of on the fence. Let me know if there are any other vidoes you would like to see.
I enjoy your videos more than most. You are a specimen of physically fit, and don't appeal to incredible bulk types. I'm new to TG, and need my Fit max to fight an incident bout with that dreaded virus a few years ago. After 3 months recovery 35+ days in a coma, my muscles Aptrophied and I hadn't regained full health since. This Total Gym is my ticket to rebirth, I hope. One thought as I watch is, that it would be great to explain muscle groups with each attachment. My FIT is the max version. I get the xl Squat, and everything but the weight bar, and pillates toe bar. 2 that I think will be my best friends. Keep fit and educational!❤
Thanks David... Though not an attachment, but an accessory.... The mat -- Is there a reason to use a mat? (In other words, a mat costs $$ - why have it?) (BTW, next time QVC sells the TG, they need to hire you to demonstrate!)
Hi Raymond - This was just for demonstration to show what can be done with each attachment. But you could pick and choose some exercises and combine them into a workout depending on what your goals are or what muscle groups you are trying to target.

David does your Toe bar Rocks front and back as you apply pressure from the right and left? Also seem that the bar wiggle up a little, im concern it may pop off. The extended squat stand seem to stay in and is alot more stable maybe due to it weight.
Yes, it does rock front to back a little when I push back and forth with my hand. When I use it/push on it with my feet, it seems fine. I don't notice any rocking. It seems very secure and I don't have any worries with it popping out of the frame. Is your toe bar one solid piece or did it come in 2 pieces that had to be screwed together?
@@DavidsTotalFitness its a 2 piece Toe bar, just got it from the QVC sale last week. Thanks again for the info on this deal. I wonder if TG would replace it, seems a little to loose to me. Do you think it's due to its a 2 piece?
@@808xcountry5 I'm not really sure if that would be the cause. For some reason they started making some of the toe bars in 2 pieces that have to be assembled. The one I purchased directly from TG is one solid piece. I would make sure the bolts are tightened. The manual says to tighten the bolts while the toe bar is in the squat stand receptacles. Having the toe bar in place while doing the final tightening helps to make sure both sides are in alignment. If you accidentally skipped over that step, you could try disassembling and then reassembling. If you think there is still a problem, I would try calling Total Gym and explain the issue. If it is defective they will send a replacement. Keep me posted. 👍
I'm curious about the resistance bands . Because I'm about to try them out. How would you use the resistance bands for upper body workouts. Like pull up bar and with the cables. Would the bands still be attached to the bottom of the total gym?
Yes, you would leave the resistance bands attached at the bottom when using the pull-up bars or the cables. You just need to be careful because if you add too many resistance bands, the glideboard could be pulled out from underneath you. Start with a lower level of resistance to test it out before going heavy. Total Gym doesn't recommend using resistance bands due to safety concerns. Try at your own risk. And if you try it, be careful and test on lower levels before trying to max it out. One more option to increase resistance for upper body is to leave the cable detached from the glideboard. You will be pulling a greater percentage of your body weight. You will just need to sit further back on the glideboard to accommodate the cables. Hope that helps!
So here's a question I've been wondering about. If at the max level your lifting let's say 50% of your body weight. Does that apply to the weights and resistance bands as well? Say you got 50 pounds of plate weight are you lifting 25 pounds of it? Or a 10 pound resistance band are you using just 5 pounds max. Just curious
Hi, Michael - Yes, any weight plates added are affected by the level, just like body weight. The resistance bands are not impacted by the level. In case anyone is looking for the resistance charts, here's a link: totalgymdirect.com/total-gym-resistance-charts/ It's also good to keep in mind that when the pulleys are attached, the resistance is cut in half again.
I'm not familiar with that model, but when I checked on the Total Gym Direct website, it looks like they do not sell a squat stand for that model. If your model came with a wing attachment, you may be able to do a modified squat off of that. You may want to consider upgrading. Check out this video for a demo using the Ultra. Looks to be very informative: ruclips.net/video/4sFO5PuYoFs/видео.html
