I just bought the xL squat stand on Amazon, I have the Platinum Total gym and the stand fit in the holes. It is a tight fit, but since I won’t be changing accessories out often at all there, it works, but almost didn’t.
Because of you I bought a total gym and it just came yesterday and I'm loving it. This videos timing is perfect 👌.
Great to hear! Money well spent for sure.
Good vid! The dip bars indeed feel like impingement. So glad to see the idea of the prone position.
I also like the swing swivel!
Must have: XL Squat stand. I also love the triceps ropes because it adds variety and really hits the triceps. I like having an extra wing attachment, so you can leave one set at the bottom and one at the top so you can move more quickly between exercises. Toe bar is great for Pilates and stretching, and I use the leg pulleys a lot! Lots of fun and great way to stretch out the legs and back. I have the dip bars; they are just OK. Don't use a ton. I have a cyclotrainer and don't use as often as I thought I would. It's not a bad piece of equipment, but I have a GTS model, so it's more cumbersome to take on/off my machine. If I had a Fit or XLS model, I think it would be easier and I would use it more. My tops are: XL squat stand, Pilates bar and ropes, tricep ropes, weight bar, extra wing attachment (tri-shaper bar or shoulder press) so you can move quickly between exercises.
Excellent points, especially the extra wing attachment. I should probably give the pulleys a fair shot. I also definitely should pick up the rope attachments. Thanks for sharing all of that !
@@hybridresistance Rope attachment for back work is awesome. I attach the leg pulley bracket to the tower, then hook the rope attachment to it and use it to do pull-ups with varying incline. Totally intense.
Very helpful. I have the larger squat stand and the ab crunch accessory.
Thank you! Thanks for taking time making a awesome informative video!
Glad it was helpful.
Bought a cyclotrainer2 cheap off marketplace. Prefer it to an exercise bike mainly because it's still fairly easy to store compared to a traditional bike. It's been pretty good to me so far.
The weightbar is really key , it makes a lot of these other attachments 1000000percent more effective
Seems like Gr8 flex is the way to go for included attachments . Thanks
In defense of the Cyclo trainer, I got the CT2 (for cost conscious reasons originally) but realized its benefits more and more I used it. It doesn't have a flywheel or any other power component, so each pedal stroke is the velocity that generates movement so, it's very similar to the feel of road biking, where to achieve a "turn" you have to pedal with no help back. It's great for HIIT workouts, it allows for mimicking things like "jumps" one can do on a spin bike (I used to be a Johnny G. spinning instructor back in the day... when it was fashionable) and the resistance options are heavy enough to really challenge me. During COVID lockdowns, the only cardio I did was running and I'm a fairly decent runner - average 4-5 miles a day at 10 minute mile pace - but still can't get my heart rate up past 130 while running at a comfortable pace. I can get up past 140+ doing HITT and short cycling sessions on the Cyclo Trainer 2. Also, it's great for sensitive knees and hips as it allows for you to slide up on the glide board based on the length you choose, and it has literally no impact on the lower back.
Thanks for sharing all of that. Can't argue that if you're using it, it's worth every penny. How does it feel for long durations or how long do you usually spend on it?
@@hybridresistance In a word, it feels hard. It kicks my butt, well, granted I do really, since I like to use fairly high resistance levels, do a Spin-type workout with climbs, jumps, uphill sprint combinations, and if I do a full cardio workout on it, I can't last more than 30 mins. I think once I made it to 40 minutes and only because I had to "finish what I had planned." (then never did that workout again) My quads burn like nothing else. It kicks my butt more than a regular spin bike. When I do HIIT work on it, I do 1-2 minute intervals in between resistance sets. And also in addition to your Total Fit TV episode, I did use the free options there to learn about how to use the Cyclo trainer, meaning the variety of exercises one can do, not just simple peddling. (I also started using it doing shoulder work - pushing on the pedals with my hands while sitting on the glide board - that is intense; can't do more than 2 minutes at a time)
I like the tricep dip bar. Never thought of doing the dips face down.
Agree , xl squat stand, weight bar, and plates.👍
Recently bought the Apex G3 over G1 for the dip bar and base squat stand. Would’ve been nice to have the video prior. Would’ve just gone with the G1 and buy the attachments separately.
Totally agree that the face up dip is really uncomfortable for the shoulders. However I recently tried it with my head elevated off the glide board and for whatever reason it was much more comfortable.
Good to know I'll try it out.
The Cyclo Trainer I is all that and a box of chips.
So helpful, thank you. Scored this model used for 200 dollars, wasn't sure what the dip bars were or where they went... Perfect! It is missing the middle cable pulley though. :/ Great ideas with the bands too. Love your adaptations. Already have some bands so I am stoked. :)
Awesome to hear. I'm sure you could fashion on or possibly order a pulley from Total Gym possibly.
@@hybridresistance I just scored the crazy XLS in like new condition for an amazing deal. So stoked. Will be checking on your videos for more inspiration, but have already created some cool moves that are dance and swim specific. My lats are going to be so SWOLE lol. I used to do Gravity classes back in Toronto, but they don't have the machines where I live now. Love having it in my Home anyway
See you have the seller size rebound or do you want to look at a good rebounder it’s called the bellicon
Hey I appreciate your videos. Do any of these attachments work with the Weider system? Thanks and keep em coming!
Unfortunately the only attachment that would really work would be the EZ Curl Bar on the Weider.
Q: What bands do you use for attaching to the weight bar?
Just purchased an Apex G5 and could not be more grateful for your instructive and informative videos.
I use .UndersunFitness Bands. You can save 10% OFF your order of using Code "PHFitness" at Undersunfitness.com or find them on Amazon here amzn.to/3bU4cxK Thanks for watching and happy to hear the videos are helpful.
I got the stepper as a gift. I was in the same mind set that I was not going to buy it. However, after getting it I would buy it. I use it as a treadmill for running in place on the total gym. Since I have bulging disks the slide board protects my back.
That's good to know thanks. Can you do this for a long period of time? I would think that it might get uncomfortable.
How using the stepper can replace a treadmill? I also bulging disk but I still use the trea
To answer both questions. It can be done for as long as your endurance allows. It is not uncomfortable AI lay back and run in place. How it replaces the treadmill because you. An walk or run in place.
I'm not sure if you shared it before or maybe in another video -but what resistance bands do you prefer to use? Would you be able to share a link?
Hi Greg, I use these UndersunFitness Bands you can SAVE 10% OFF your order of using Code "PHFitness" at Undersunfitness.com or find them on Amazon here amzn.to/3bU4cxK
Thanks for this video! I have a question. You didn't really go over them, but what about the press up bars? My new Apex 3 didn't come with them (they came with tricep dip bars). Do you think the pilates toe bar or even the wing attachments placed at the bottom would cover that well enough to not need them?
Yes, I think the wing dip should cover it for you.
@@hybridresistance okay great, thanks!
Have you ever tried any of the other squat stands on the Weider ultimate body works? I would like to upgrade the squat stand because I feel like the Weiders' is tiny.
Unfortunately the larger squat stands don't fit the Weider.
Would you recommend modifying the board to allow for a weight bar if your model doesn’t have a hole for it?
I guess it would depend on how well you could pull it off. It is nice, but I honestly don't use it as much as I used to.
Do you know if the power glide board on the GTS can be used on the XLS
I'm not sure, but I don't believe so.
I have the 11000 (not the 1100) I'm having trouble finding accessories.... can you tell me if any of these accessories are universal and will fit my old 11000 model? Thank you!! 🙏
I honestly think the newer accessories won't work on the those models.
@@hybridresistance okay that's kinda what I figured. But thanks for your reply:)
Resist bands?
Those are certainly great, I was just talking about official attachments. I also always say, using them is "at your risk" because I don't think these machines are technically designed for them.
My Apex total gym came with the medium squat stand, do you think the larger stand would be better? When using mine I am thinking it is straining my knees some when doing the leg squats. What are your thought?
Yes, XL squat stand will make a big difference! IMO, they should include the XL stand with all machines! The smaller ones can injure your knees.
As he mentioned as well, definitely worth it regardless of what model you have.
Read the reviews on the step stand on totalgym direct. I was about the buy the xl stand but bc I'm getting the pilates tand, I decided to get that step one since it seems quite versatile.
