Omgg I have searched for so long for an instructional video like this, my total gym had no instructions for the leg pulley! I thought I had missing parts, I would just give up trying to figure it out. Thank you so much for this. You explained everything in great detail.
@@DavidsTotalFitness I have the Total Gym Fit. I have just started using the Leg Pulley and have tried with and without shoes, just can’t seem to get the straps to fit comfortably.
I think they changed the foot harnesses on the Fit Ultimate that was sold on QVC last month. Not sure if that is the one you have, but it was supposed to be more padded/comfortable. You may be able to contact customer service to see if they have that type or check out Amazon for a foot loop strap, which is more commonly used on a Pilates reformer. No Velcro or rings - the foot just slips in. That type might be more comfortable.
Great demo! I've been reluctant to use the leg pulley because I usually get tangled up in it and it looks complicated. Thanks for showing us how to get on and off with the Ropes. I'll give it another go soon and try to do a stretching and hip mobility routine with it.
Great video David but I have so much trouble with the cuffs. The bit that goes around the heel keeps slipping off and the cuff ends up around my calf. Hurts. Can you get foot straps like the ones for your hands?
Hi, Gail - Glad you found the video. I've seen some people use foot/ankle cuffs like these, but I personally never tried them: amzn.to/3PpX9jT You also may want to try some straps like these, which are more like a traditional Pilates foot strap: amzn.to/45GjUFW Hope that helps!
I tried it out using some Carbineer hooks, but I didn't like the way the rope was running through the pulley. I wouldn't recommend it because it might cause extra wear on the rope, plus I'm not sure if it has been tested/rated to work together. I would stick with the pulley system designed for the GTS. 👍
David thanks for all your videos. Your videos have me motivated to use my total gym. I was wondering what number do you recommend for setting the tower for the glide board for a beginner? Thanks again for all videos.
Thank you! Glad you find them helpful! For a beginner I suggest starting at a low level. Assuming you have a model with 12 levels like a Fit, I would start at a 2-4. If it feels too easy, go up a level. Too difficult, go down a level. For general fitness and toning, I would aim for 12-15 reps of each exercise while maintaining proper form. If your form starts to deteriorate, either do 1-2 fewer reps or go down a level. Once you can complete 12-15 reps without feeling challenged during the last 2-3 reps, it's probably time to go up a level. If you're trying to lose weight, aim for 15-20 reps and try to limit any rest periods between exercises so you can keep your heart rate elevated to burn more calories. Hope that helps! 👍 Good luck!
@@DavidsTotalFitness I just picked up a total gym achiever for $25 but it’s missing the leg pulley and one of the feet harnesses and I want to get into working out on it near 61 years old and a few months I’m in fairly decent shape for my age considering my past and I just want to keep going the right direction I have lost 50 pounds and let myself go there for a while so I’m hoping to utilize your channel to help me get in better shape . I currently jog although I haven’t been doing that much lately because my knee has been bothering me. I was doing push-ups and situps every day at least every other day but my knee started giving me a hard time kind of backed off. I was running Up to 12 miles a day. but my average was 3 to 6-4 times a week at least
Hi! I have an old version of total gym but I don't have the accessories for legs that I would like to get. I can see the hole on the superior part of the vertical bar so fine in that part . I don't see how I could attach the part that goes to on the bottom of the structure by the end of the slider, only two holes. Could that support be attached somehow there if I purchase it? I lack my legs exercises and I need to be able to complement my routine. Could you please guide me a little bit? Thanks!
Do you know which model you have? Some older models don't have a spot for a squat stand or a toe bar. If the model you have does not have the 2 holes on the cross bar at the bottom, then a toe bar or other squat stand would not work. Technically you don't need the toe bar to use the leg pulley, but it can make it easier so you have a place to rest your foot.
@@DavidsTotalFitness Thank you, it's very sweet of you to respond me. No, idea the model it looks pretty simple. I bought it a long time ago and just have work out what I'd seen on tv. I'll go ahead to purchase those accessories then. Seems is going to work. Thanks for having your channel ☺️

I think you may be referring to the leg pulley bracket that the D-ring hooks on. Is that correct? It doesn't look like that part is available for order from the Total Gym website. If you call their customer service number, they may be able to sell that to you separately.
My new total gym came with no instructions on how to use the leg pulley system, so this is much appreciated. Thank you! Excellent detail.
You are welcome! Glad it helped out!

Glad I could help! Hope you enjoy the leg pulley. I have a few different workouts on my channel using the leg pulley.
So very helpful ! Had all these attachments and never used them.
Glad to help!
This is the best demo I have seen for the leg pulley. My ankle strap has 4 rings and keeps falling off my heal.
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. Which model do you have?

Hi David, Going back in your video library for this one, question can you use the Fit Plus leg pulley system on a GTS?

I need to lower my board for these - and lowering is no problem- it’s raising the board back up that is not the easiest: any suggestions?
Try placing your foot on the cross bar at the bottom to hold the tower in place when you need to raise the glideboard. Hope that helps!
