at first, i thought st. ives was absolutely life changing. it instantly got rid of my blackheads (or so i thought), and my face felt so smooth right after using it. after a while, i noticed that parts of my skin (often on the forehead) always stung and i realized that there were tiny scratches on it. i thought i scratch my face in my sleep, but turns out it was the scrub. after a while, my skin got so irritated and red as well. i didn't break out or anything, but my face was always just so dry and red after using it. i had oily to combi skin (leaning towards oily). now switched to cosrx and i no longer use physical face scrubs, and it's amazing 🥺
I think an underrated thing about this video is that it shows that even an objectively bad skincare routine doesn’t make your skin look terrible immediately. Hyram has some redness, but he doesn’t break out right away or develop wrinkles just from using bad products. I hear people say all the time that the St. Ive’s scrub is fine because they use it and their skin doesn’t look bad, but we have to remember that you only really see results from skincare in the long term, and you have to consider whether your routine is keeping your skin healthy for years to come, not whether it looks better or worse in a matter of days.

Gabby Ketchel i am in no way a professional but through trial and error and learning from people who ARE professionals, my best advice would be keep using the moisturizer, and im not sure if ur using their foaming cleanser but that ones great for oily skin and the serum. along with a spot treatment, either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. only use the spot treatment at night!!! for the serum, start by only using it at night everyday and if u feel like its helping start using it in the morning as well. probably just a gentle cleanser moisturizer and sunscreen for mornings. i hope this helps!

i think the mario badescu spray is popular BECAUSE it has that sticky feeling! I lowkey used to not have a shower for days and not even brush my teeth/wash my face for weeks on a streak after I started getting acne in 5th grade (I started hating myself, my anxiety was at peak at the time and I was going through family problems) and it went on till 8th grade and then I started washing my face with clean and clear, used to squeeze out my blackheads, pressed in my pimples cause I thought they would settle down and used a lemon and baking soda face mask everyday, plus using a walnut scrub TWICE a day and removed it using a toothbrush (i used NO spf, moisturizeror, serum, toner, nothing) wore loads of makeup and never removed it and piled more makeup on top. I did that for 2 years straight until 10th grade when I completely stopped for 8 months as my entire face was FLOODED with cystic, fungal, inflamed, pus filled acne with huge ass blackheads and then finally in 11th grade during quarantine discovered hyram who was a fucking BLESSING, now my acne has tamed down and I have ZERO acne scars from the past, I only get 2-3 pimples occasionally when I'm close to my period and I have ZERO blackheads/textured skin/inflamed acne nothing at all. A good hyram approved routine did wonders!!

How did you deal with the sebaceous filaments on your nose? I squeeze them out sometimes because I just hate oiliness, but I know it's gonna enlarge my pores.
@@lynnkellaway Thank you so much Queen! And I'm only 16 so I can't really spend all that much. @@Death_Bliss I used the salicylic acid serum from a brand called minimalist (it is a dupe of the ordinary as the ordinary isn't available in my country, though I think thats better) it really helped reducing the oiliness from my skin and the whiteheads (or sebaceous filaments) were not even there after using it for a while. For my whiteheads I use: Minimalist Salicylic acid 2% serum (everyday at night) For blackheads/ textured skin: Minimalist AHA 25% + PHA 5% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (once a week.) For fungal acne I used Nizoral which is an anti dandruff shampoo once a week, I kept it on my face for 10 min and then washed it off. For all my acne scars/blemishes/everyday serum I used Minimalist Alpha Arbutus 2% + Hyaluronic acid 1% (twice every day) And then I used 99% Aloe vera gel as a moisturizer and Ponds spf 30 matte sunscreen. These are the products that worked for me. And honestly speaking, I still don't love myself but my self confidence has def increased by a lot! Lots of love💕

at first, i thought st. ives was absolutely life changing. it instantly got rid of my blackheads (or so i thought), and my face felt so smooth right after using it. after a while, i noticed that parts of my skin (often on the forehead) always stung and i realized that there were tiny scratches on it. i thought i scratch my face in my sleep, but turns out it was the scrub. after a while, my skin got so irritated and red as well. i didn't break out or anything, but my face was always just so dry and red after using it. i had oily to combi skin (leaning towards oily).
now switched to cosrx and i no longer use physical face scrubs, and it's amazing 🥺
From which age you start chemical exfoliators? Can you please tell me.I am 18 and I want to start it.Which cosrx exfoliators you use ?
How often did you use the scrub?
I think an underrated thing about this video is that it shows that even an objectively bad skincare routine doesn’t make your skin look terrible immediately. Hyram has some redness, but he doesn’t break out right away or develop wrinkles just from using bad products. I hear people say all the time that the St. Ive’s scrub is fine because they use it and their skin doesn’t look bad, but we have to remember that you only really see results from skincare in the long term, and you have to consider whether your routine is keeping your skin healthy for years to come, not whether it looks better or worse in a matter of days.
YES YES
you’re right! when people tell me they don’t need moisturiser for whatever reason i internally cringe
@@sophie-eh4te exactly! *You* may not need moisturizer, but your skin in fifty years needs you to need moisturizer!
You know most people who say these things have been using the scrub for a while....
@@juli-hannah3569 In the long term means you won't look 60 when you're 35. Overexfoliating makes your skin prone to sun damage which will make you age faster

Maybe if you’re using an acne/exfoliating product try reducing the frequency with which you use it. When I was on Retin-A it made my skin so dry and red and I got breakouts from my skin being dry. Hi, could you tell me if my skin care routine is correct : Cleanser , a serum, and a moisturizer. That was for my night time routine. I use the ceraVe cleanser, and the moisturizer from them, but I’m not sure how many times to use my serum, like do how many times do I use it in a day, or week? its the niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% . I also don’t know what to do for the mornings, I’m not sure if I should do something, or not? I have combination to oily skin and I have lots of pimples I want to get rid of. Thank you!
Yes
Gabby Ketchel you are doing very well. You can use niacinamide everyday and add a sunscreen in your morning routine.

I like using it in a full coverage makeup routine. putting it on a blending sponge really helps set makeup in and applying it after a loose powder helps it like stick to the face better, look less powdery, and create a better texture to apply other products on top of! but as for skin care i have no idea lol

I’ve struggled with depression before and I don’t wish it upon anyone, so I strongly advise you to seek help so you can start feeling way better. Lost of love!
How did you deal with the sebaceous filaments on your nose? I squeeze them out sometimes because I just hate oiliness, but I know it's gonna enlarge my pores.
@@lynnkellaway Thank you so much Queen! I am thinking of getting therapy but I recently got a job at this tiny Cafe so my pay is really low currently and I don't think my parents would sponsor me as therapy is really expensive and even though they both earn a pretty good wage as we live in the 'rich' part of the city, they still won't spend money on such a 'useless thing as therapy' their words not mine. And I'm only 16 so I can't really spend all that much. Plus the amount of stuff my family makes me go through, I'm pretty sure my mental health is gonna be 10 times better as soon as I move out. 2 more years to go. Thanks for your concern ❤. Wierd how sometimes strangers on the web can be better than the toxic people around you.
Though at times I have a bad skin day so I do occasionally get whiteheads and blackheads.
@KiMcHi FriEd SpRiTe Let me just write down all the stuff I used. Plus I have undereye dark circles still and idk what to do with them :(
When I wear makeup I use cleansing milk along with a gentle neem cleanser from the brand biotique. When I dont wear makeup I just use the cleanser and not cleansing milk.
For toner I use the face shop rice water toner.
For my whiteheads I use: Minimalist Salicylic acid 2% serum (everyday at night)
For blackheads/ textured skin: Minimalist AHA 25% + PHA 5% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (once a week.)
For fungal acne I used Nizoral which is an anti dandruff shampoo once a week, I kept it on my face for 10 min and then washed it off.
For all my acne scars/blemishes/everyday serum I used Minimalist Alpha Arbutus 2% + Hyaluronic acid 1% (twice every day)
And then I used 99% Aloe vera gel as a moisturizer and Ponds spf 30 matte sunscreen.
These are the products that worked for me. And honestly speaking, I still don't love myself but my self confidence has def increased by a lot!
Lots of love💕
