    I’ve just recently discovered, after almost 15 years of battling bad acne, that hydration and barrier repair is the key! No one tells you that when you have acne. I’ve also tried many different topicals and pills prescribed from my dermatologist. Cicaplast balm and The Ordinary’s barrier repair serum has done way more for my acne than salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide ever has. My skin feels so good now!

      I have the exact same story. Focusing on the skin barrier helped me heal my acne, and the cicaplast balm and The Ordinary's soothing serum are both holy grails for me. I recently ordered Niod's modulating glucosides serum during the sale, because it seems to be very similar to the pink soothing serum!

      @scarameeks Yeah, eating healthier also played a role. I'm a vegetarian, but before I would eat too much of the same things. My diet wasn't varied enough. I started branching out more and incorporating a more wide array of different veggies (and other foods) in my diet. I also started paying attention to the nutrient profiles of different foods and started trying to eat the daily recommended amount of vitamins and minerals

    Yes knowing how to save your skin when it’s irritated, having a bad reaction, or your barrier is damaged is so so important. Even if you don’t have moisturizers that are specifically for the skin barrier in your routine, you should keep one in your stash. As well as a gentle cleanser. Centella products help me. A centella sheet mask always brings my skin back to life. I use it my skin is irritated and also every time I exfoliate. Flaskin toner, skin1004 ampoule, numbuzin no.3 serum, mediheal dermaplus cica mask, Arstura Atobarrier365 cream. Only products I’ll use when I have irritation, not always all at once tho.

I'm 42yo (w oily/combo sensitive skin) and had a horrible allergic reaction to expired makeup (didn't know it was expired when I put it on) and my skin had the exact symptoms --- super texture, dermatitis/eczema, hot, welts, itchy, etc. My dermatologist recommended a routine super similar to what you described here. Dial back everything, just gentle cleanser and that la Roche Posay cicaplast balm. since my reaction symptoms were so severe, it took a few weeks to heal completely but I for sure know what to do anytime I feel the slightest tingle of a reaction to a product. Just a few tips to add from a lifelong eczema sufferer:
    - Haircare products can also be irritating to your face and neck.
    - Pinning up bangs, wearing contact lenses instead of eyeglasses, and avoiding jewelry during a flare up also helps.
    - Other helpful ingredients include oatmeal and hypochlorous acid spray like the ones from Tower 28 and Prequel.
    - If you can’t see a Dermatologist, you can get a prescription from your regular doctor or at an Urgent Care or Walk-In Clinic.

    Very useful video. When my skin is irritated and the barrier is weakened, the cleansing gel from CeraVe worked for me, then the toner from Anua Heartleaf 77, with Centella Asiatica Ampoule from Skin1004, and as a cream, the lotion from Anua Heartleaf 70 in the morning, and a cream from Atopalm for dry and sensitive skin at night. Recently I added the rice extract toner from Beauty of Joseon and I can see that my skin liked it. My skin is basically mixed, but severely dehydrated in the T zone and reactive to everything that I put on. This is my morning and evening routine. I only use SPF in my foundation unfortunately, because I'm allergic to SPF ingredients. Other things I avoid are spicy foods. It exacerbates my skin's reactivity. Or be too cold or too hot.

      Do you have dry skin as well? If you do, you could also try the Cleanser from Cetaphil. They're just as good as Cerave.

      Did you you the salicylic acid one by chance?
      Im currently using the face reality one. I tried a whole line from an esthetician and its the only product i wound up emptying. I also like the neautrogena one and natrium niacinimide one

      @PunkkHazard 3 дня назад +1

      @TZ2nd The Salicylic one is good, but I wouldn't advise, everyday use. Simply because salicylic acid is a BHA, an exfoliant, and even though it's a small percentage, it's still going to strip your skin.of it's natursl oils. It's better every other day. But, if you have oily skin type, then i would say it's fine.

    • @PunkkHazard
      @PunkkHazard 3 дня назад

      @Zamy_aspire01 If the Cerave one is causing bumps, you could try the "I'm From Rice Cleanser.""It's a good cleanser for dry skin types. Another good one is the "You to the People Cleanser," but it's a little expensive. Both great cleansers. LRP, Aveeno, and COSRX also have a good cleanser. But the dry spots could also be due to over cleansing. Asumimg it's the cleanser. Have you tried simply splashing cold water in your face in the morning, then moving on with your skincare, and only cleansing at night. It might work.

    My problem is these gentle clensers don't fully remove the oils and i always break out more, even when i use one for oily skin. Then i always turn back to a harsher facewash 😩
    Edit: Guys I've tried a new technique, i continued using the "harsh" facewash, but then i make sure to use a hydrating toner and a non comedogenic+barrier repairing light moisturizer, and don't use any extra actives because usually harsh facewash has Salicylic so it's more than enough. My acne hasn't been completely removed but it got a little better

    Since LA Roche-Posay changed a bit the formula of the cicaplast Balm B5, I dislike it. The first version had less panthenol and other less few stuff in it. But since 2022 it became too loaded, heavy almost like a soft wax when the old version was feeling just like a thick cream, easier to blend and was NOT breaking me out. I did switch for the Avène balm one but it leaves me too shiny like vaseline which I hate even tho it does a great job healing too so I use rarely, just for skin emergencies.

    This happened to me a few months ago, but I couldn't understand what was happening at first. I had red marks, a bumpy texture, and black "dots" on my neck (which, doing research, were filaments sebaceous). I still think it was an allergic reaction to niacinamide 😖 I went to the pharmacy and bought Cerave SA smooth cleanser, Bioderma Cicabio Creme Soothing Repairing, which I used until I completely healed. I also tried cicaplast before, but it was less effective than Bioderma.
