Hi, I'm one of the vfx dudes who worked on Loki S2.... the time slipping stuff I think, I dunno what it's actually called since I haven't watched the show. We used Nuke for all compositing, but it's cool you can do it with free software, even though Fusion makes me cry.
Hehe I used to work as an animator generalist a little (a few years back 😅)while back 😂 😮 we used to use Nothing reals “Shake”. Loved it and also use Houdini’s comp tool which is actually pretty cool heheh. It is really cool to see tools like nuke and fusion. Sooo cool what you can achieve for free. Love it!
You’re one of my favorite Davinci resolve vfx YTers. My favorite thing is how you justify your decisions so clearly, they reinforce why the effect looks so seamless. Keep it up champ 🙌 I wouldn’t even mind like a YT short series where you demonstrate your design decisions
my mind was blown seeing the time slipping effect just in the show. if you did a tutorial on that, that would be pretty awesome (also a spaghettification tutorial would be pretty neat)
I'm not gonna hold you, i was one of the people who ran up the views fro the pruning vfx. i used it so much for something so small but impactful. thanks for that. and thanks for this.
This kid is so awesome. I was mesmerized (as i always am) up until u said 'I have my mom and sister hold up the Green Screen..' and I snapped out of it and felt pathetic 😆
Incredible, though I would like to mention this would probably be more effective if you were to create the actual portal in blender and camera track it onto the footage (can also be done in blender). This could help the portal fit better into the environment + you could use camera projection to get actual lighting and reflections for the portal. Fusion is a compositor after all; not a... what do you really call it? Well a modeler. I was kinda stuck with the quality of my effects until I began using both. With blender you could also have some fun and not have the camera on a tripod, but rather composite the green screen onto the clean plate with some fancy camera tracking and so on. I think it would sell the effect better. I think it could really level up your effects and so on if you were to use both instead of just fusion. Fusion is just kinda limited in what it can do in terms of more advanced effects, and not just compositing
i dunno , it just looks cheap af - like a dollar store version of a hollywood effect , yanno , like something you would see in bolliwood or those bad diy nigerian films good for a laugh but not to be used in any serious capacity.
Fair enough. I definitely could have spent more time on compositing it (adding light wrap, blur, film grain, etc.), but I just wanted to focus on making the portal itself for this tutorial so it wouldn't be too overwhelming. Hope you still got something from this!

For this "simple" effect, Fusion Node trees seem so overwhelming complicated to me...do you think it would be simpler in After Effects?
The goat 🐐
Cool as always :)
I got lost between the 1st & 31st node

Oh and if you want to see some examples, check out people like Ian Hubert; he has some great, fast pace examples of how it works
Cool. Thanks.
Ah god. It's so crazy! :D I will try it with magic mask :P :D
Brrooo WTF, this is really insane, where did you learn how to use Davinci Resolve so well?
Can you make a video showing how to rotate a person's head 180 degrees in a horror movie? Thanks
noice!
Would love to see the Thanos Portal

10 minute free software tutorial vs multimillion high-scale production....... i wonder which will look slightly worse
