Fun fact: they actually used Fusion for compositing on Doctor Strange (2016)! I can't believe I made a whole Doctor Strange video and forgot to mention this!
Yeah actually ! I saw this is mentioned when I downloaded Resolve, and I was looking for portal effect for so long inside fusion ! Thanks for that ! (BTW commenting before watching the video 😅)
Love the motivational part of the video. “A master has failed more times than a rookie has tried” 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Btw there is a great HBo series called A discovery of witches where you can get realy great inspo for some amazing effects.
Hi! Awesome tutorial, thank you! One question though. When I export it and put it as an overlay, it is just too bright. I tried to adjust the setting but couldn't make it better. Would you have any recommendation?
I have just made the switch from after effects and premier to Davinci resolve, and I was worried about achieving sfx in fusion...Dude! this video has given me life! I don't even understand the particles and nodes of fusion yet, but your tutorial was so clear and thorough that I think this is gonna be a great transition. I hit the subscribe button!
why i can't see what i'm doing in fusion? i'm trying repeat every step but at 00:27 after clicking something you have preview of what you actually doing how can i fix that?
Very helpful, but if we change the perspective of the portal mean if i try to rotate it the particles are going in some random motion, means it's not looking like a portal. Can u help with that Please?
Awesome. I usually try not to use fusion(I'm new new to video stuff) but this was to cool to not try. Now how do I add it to a video 😂. I didn't see a tutorial on that?
Nice video… But how do you start in fusion to begin with? Do you put a black background in the timeline and then proceed to fusion? Cause when I just click fusion, there isn’t a “media out” and I can’t seem to add anything. Sorry… new to Davinci
@Nomad R Productions this is a good video was almost able to complete the portal but not having the plugins stopped me on my iPad. Don’t know how to add plugins yet. Keyword yet
really good tutorial! My problem is just that I cant find a way how to add a media in so that I can match the portals perspective with the footage. How can I do this??? Is there any way to export the portal as a 3D Object that I can move it free in 3D space? Right now it is just messing up all the particles if I move the Shape 3D...
Hey is there anyway you can make the dr strange portal into a rectangular shape, I’ve followed tutorials and when I switch the shape either from a torus or cylinder to a cuboid or plane it doesn’t work. If you have any idea on what I should do it would be appreciated. Also is there any way to contact you outside of the comments section?
@@NomadRProductions Hi thanks for replying. I am new to Resolve so this video showed me a lot. I created a new project and this time it worked. I blame it on how much of a newbie I am.
AMAZING!! Thank you!! but please, how can we blend this with our footage? 3Dtracker? im trying with the tracker but doesnt follow the camera movement. it would be great a tutorial of how to merge the fx with the footage! thanks!
Thank you! I have a tutorial for compositing the portal over a static shot (ruclips.net/video/KRFwhBz5CEc/видео.html). For tracking, it really depends on your camera movement. If it's simple handheld movement, a normal tracker would work. If it's more complicated than that you will probably have to use the 3D tracker.
@@NomadRProductions Thank you!! i´ve seen the video, it does not solve my problem, i just cant join the portal to my 3D camera tracking node. the 3D merge node doesnt let me to join them. do you know any node to connect them?
Ok I see the problem. The portal (with glow and tintensity) is a 2D effect. If you want it in 3D I would use your Tracked camera as the camera at 5:25. Then you can render that out and add glow and Tintensity.
@@NomadRProductions the problem is that it applies the glow blur and tintensity to the whole image. 😅 thank you so much for respondidng! ♥️♥️♥️ I’ll keep on trying 🤪
the sparkle donut is not working for me, the particles are not turning into a ring like you showed in the video. ive connect both nodes but nothing is working or appearing
Excuse me teacher. I bought 13900F and 4070Ti to run Doctor Strange Portal | Davinci Resolve on 4K 60fps. Cpu cannot afford 4k 60fps particle render. Does your computer CPU afford 4K 60fps particle render?
Hi. I stuck at 3:48 - there's no "Paint mode" in Davinci 18. So I ignored this setting, but later when I change emitter parameter to "Bitmap" and conncted nodes as you showed, my portal has disappeared :/
thank you a lot for you hard work on this canal and I have a suggestion, can you show us how to create the effect of smoke coming out of the wheels of a car like what they did in the music video (Gran Turismo 7 - “Vroom” by The FaNaTiX Official Video | PS5, PS4) It would be interesting if you reveal how to do this by Fusion. we waiting you my firend . and thank you advence
Go to the frame before you want it to end and set a keyframe on the number. Move forward one frame and bring the number down to 0. If you have any number variance, you want to keyframe that to 0 too.
It's very fast for my beginner taste, the procedures and clicks are not clear enough. I have a feeling that the conclusion does not fit the latest version of DaVinci 18.
For the tutorial, I wanted to focus on making the portal itself, since it's more complicated. To add it to footage, I would render the portal out, then merge that over your footage with the apply mode set to screen. Basically what I do in this video, but with the portal instead of the shields: ruclips.net/video/ieFAUYZ47R8/видео.html
Find a picture or video of the location, then cut it out with an elipse mask so it fits inside of the portal. Make sure to add it before the portal so that the portal is in front.
These 'tutorials' are the reason I'm already getting tired of Davinci: zero explanations at all. Just a series of fast unintelligible nodes added one after the other. Even worse, often these videos are just copy and paste "tutorials". The fact there's no official documentation for ALL functions and nodes (unlike what happens for programming languages) makes the learning curve often impossible, not just hard. Hope future releases will help this way or new editing softwares could have easy life in stealing users....

What do you mean by "not applying"? Is it that particles aren't spawning in the ring?
