The wildest part for me, is that the paid version is a one-time purchase. In today's world of shitty and expensive subscriptions, that's so refreshing.
Actually there is a trick, the people will use the software for free and get addicted to it so then they can buy gadgets from their company that works better with davinci resolve
Several years ago, I worked on one of the Spongebob movies. For the portion my teams worked on, the pipeline depended on a proprietary workflow between Toon Boom Harmony and The Foundry's Nuke (the latter just basically being Fusion on steroids) ...And while I don't recall utilizing rigged animation for 2d per se, what you're doing here does scratch hard at the surface of quite a bit of what we did. Stay on your journey and keep up the good work!
@@willschaffner326 This is my first time learning _anything_ about Resolve. I couldn't understand why he was suddenly so comfortable pronouncing Cezar's name. 😸
4:47 This is something ivw noticed in a lot of animation, specifically shows i grew up watching. Story distracts you so much from noticing that you're sometimes looking at just a still image
This is so inspring. I switched to Davinci Resolve a year ago and I always wanted to start animating my own characters. After watching 4 videos on your channel: I subscribed. Well earned!
This is fantastic. I only recently started watching your videos and I really appreciate how well you think through things and how well you explain what you’re doing. You've got a great talent and I thank you for sharing it with us.
This is amazing, man! I'm a digital illustrator looking to start an animated channel. I use Procreate, ToonSquid, and similar programs. But, these tips and Davinci Resolve are going to come in SO CLUTCH. Subbed!
I animated "my ordinary life" cover using grid warp and it looked awesome, but can only animate parts like head, hand etc to a certain extent, I guess this video will help me animate and make it even better XD
4:21 - As you should, Scooby is very special. Also - good video, mate. I will attempt to animate my avatar in the near future (I currently use Resolve as my video editor).
i juat watched the animation and i like what i saw. Im very interested in what you can do whith Davinci in terms of animation and compositing for animation which is a topic almost noone brings up. I didnt even know you could draw in this. I just discovered you but i look foreward to this type of videos and like your atitude towards it
Yeah I've been testing out composition for animation in davinci and it's honestly pretty easy so far! May make a tutorial on it if anyone is interested!
Holy crap, well done!! My current "animation" process, is just transparent PNG's as layers in Adobe Premier lol. It is MAXIMUM jank. 🤣 I may start exploring this! Also, you really nailed the vibe of classic Scoob! The writing, the slapstick, the voices, the classic VHS grit, High fives man, subscribed! 🧡
What a great and exciting video! We use Davinci at my workplace and I think my team will be excited to checkout these tutorials! I love Krita as a free animation software and I think there can be some crazy cool stuff to do by using both Krita and Davinci to make a film :)
Being new to this channel and Da Vinci Resolve not knowing who Casey Farris is but impressive to find out and add to list of inspiration none the less lol
6:24 - Oh, ffs... animation framerate is supposed to vary. 1's, 2's, 3's. All depending on the needs of a scene. The reason rigged animation looks cheap is because it's unbelievably flat and no frame rate cap is gonna truly hide its lack of a soul.
Please drop the second video, I am working on my cartoon right now. I did episode one in Blender Grease pencil but the rigging concept in grease pencil gets real tedious around the Weight Paint portion and I’d love to jump in deeper into the animation without having to weight paint every single element I want to use including mouth shapes, eyes, hands, and body parts lmaoooo
Ok yeah, its possible, the proble is, is it Practical? I don't think so, then again i don't know how hard it is in AE. That aside, the full animation video looks PERFECT, what really caught my eye is how did you make those Shadows on the ground for the 3 characters? They perfectly connected to the feet of the character when they were on the "ground plane" as well, i've been trying to find a good way to do that
I see what you're saying, and you're right eventually it would be more efficient to just use a dedicated animation software. For me, the fun part is finding out what's possible in Davinci Resolve and pushing those limits. Thanks! For the shadows I used a DVE node going into a color corrector, I'll go into more detail when I do the compositing video
I'd love to hear more about that custom "rigged" node you mentioned - not super familiar with custom nodes or how they work - assuming that's gonna be in the next video that you mentioned :)
Question: Can you/We Animate Live or Dead people or any person for fun. using your technique? What about just their Portrait, like Mona Lisa? I Know, A.I. Has her all over the media. But still. Thanks. Terry
Be Careful, the Scooby Doo People might see this, and say: Oh Wow! We need to hire this guy, for future work. Lol. Wish you luck. Thanks for sharing. oh, and I didn't think Davinci Resolve was that complex. I'm thinking of trying D.R. out. Terry
People use essentially "puppet" animation (using a rig) and to me the style looks like crap. Never liked it, never liked animations in flash back in the day either. Davinci Resolve is a video editor, just like Premiere. After Effects is a "motion graphics" program. So it's made to do vector animations, visual effects, and basically anything that is animated. I don't doubt you can do a lot of things in Resolve, so you use what you like. If I wanted to do 2d animation I would give a serious look at Blender Grease Pencil -- it's essentially vector graphic, but with the ability to freehand draw, but then you can manipulate your drawing like you can with 3d software, since I converts your drawing into "strokes", so you can scale and rotate and all of that good stuff, but still have it look hand drawn. You can use it to tween, and make your frame-by-frame not-so-tedious, but at the same time you can animate every frame traditionally if you want.
It's still sad that adobe flash gets a bad reputation from people like you that have no idea what they are talking about. When you talk about Flash you think about static graphics that get interpolated (motion tween in flash talk) while you can obviously do frame by frame hand animation in it. Just like up Adam Phillips Brakenwood series on RUclips for example. Don't blame the tool because so many artists were just 13 year old teenagers messing around.
I'm watching a resolve video, and i do not know casey ferris. Good stuff dude. I've been trying to find the courage to switch off of the Adobe Ecosystem for a minute now
Nice work man! You should also make a video on how to make SVG character and rigs in Photoshop or Ginp so we can import tham in resolve, plz i really need a character making tutorial🙏
Man, it starts to make me sad. I used to use it, but DaVinci 18 needs 2GB of VRAM. And I'm on a 2018 ThinkPad, so that's not happening. I swapped to Kdenlive.
I have a question. I really appriciate your work and i want to ask can maybe make tutorial on stranger things gate to upside down. Thanks for your work!
It would be very helpfull id you could also say which things are for the paid version and which thing can be done with the free Davinci Resolve, but very nice video I will follow you :))
The fact Davinci is free is wild to me
Some features like mask won't work on free version
The wildest part for me, is that the paid version is a one-time purchase. In today's world of shitty and expensive subscriptions, that's so refreshing.
Some features are added if you have the paid version. Some things include a faster and easier mask
I recommend Filmora 13, Very Good Family Interface
Actually there is a trick, the people will use the software for free and get addicted to it so then they can buy gadgets from their company that works better with davinci resolve

Ahhahah DUDE THIS IS SICK!!!! Great job!
Maybe i’m dyslexic, but when he mentioned “Cezar Farias” my brain read “Casey Faris” just due to the context of Davinci 😂
the Davinci legend himself!!
hats off to the both of you :)

This is so cool, I'm looking forward to see you make more tutorials like this!
You're incredible and the software is insane. This is huge of people trying to start something new but don't like layer systems used in adobe.
Fusion+Reactor+Krokodov are well worth exploring for those that _really_ want to fall down this particular rabbit hole.
Edit: Also FuGraph.
We need more 2D davinci resolve animation tutorials, thanks for the amazing tutorials
Thank you! Good to see you again and can't wait for more 😃
this is sickk bro!! this channel will definitely blow up
Just found your channel, and I must say every one of your videos is a banger, thank you for these amazing tutorials.
Dude, this is super impressive! Very inspired by this
i loved this video! educative and also funny.
Ive been using davinci for everything 😂 for thumbnails, graphics, editing. If you have $200, get it. You can do literally anything.
I feel like this was made specifically for me lol
4:21 - As you should, Scooby is very special. Also - good video, mate. I will attempt to animate my avatar in the near future (I currently use Resolve as my video editor).
Awesome video! Great work. Now I am off to watch the animation. 🙂
This is super cool! I'm a huge fan of Scooby Doo and I had no idea you could make animations in Da Vinci, zoinks

Respect for the fact that you draw in GIMP! I do too, but it seems like most people never even think of it as an option!
This video is incredible! I’d really love to see an in depth break down in the future. Not a lot of people showing how to pull this off!
Being new to this channel and Da Vinci Resolve not knowing who Casey Farris is but impressive to find out and add to list of inspiration none the less lol

(Yes, that's a Courage reference)
YES! big up davinci and big up yourself
This is absolutely wonderful. Bravo, and thank you!
Amazing! I would never even think to try this 😂
Quick question: I recently got the iPad version of davinci resolve. Could I composite and edit the same way on iPad as I could on desktop?
Subbed for Davinci Resolve vids, very excited to learn more! Thanks!

2:16 saw this before I saw your channel, Lego Ninjago is Goated
This makes me want to switch to davinci even more

next level impressive! Excited to see the detailed tutorials :)
I wat to make teh transition from Adobe Premiere to Resolve, but its soooo hard! So my first step will me subscribing to tis channel LOL
This is amazing dude!! 🤩
Can you composite 2D animation in a PNG sequence in resolve?
Thank you!! 🙏
This is so awesome
This is insane and impressive. I would say though, doing this in Blender would be much easier!
Your Scooby is so good whaaat!!

Fusion seems to not show image sequences for me and the blur function on an image sequence looks glitchy for some reason.
The voice of you and quality content is superb ❤❤

Great video!❤
Could you figure a way to make animated effects like fire and dust shockwave like how people do it in after effects?
scoooobedobeeduuuhh hahaha, nice video
Sometimes I love the Internet.
2:15 Used to love ninjago, not a big fan of the redesigns. although i will say, "BROBRO GOOGOOO" was pretty funny.
thank you, i learned some useful things :’)

Eres un verdadero maestro en davinci resolve
This is amazing man.. Wow
Haha. Are you really a big Scooby Doo fan?
I love your shirt 💙💙
My problem with davinci resolve is: You can probably do almost everything, but not easily or in an intuitive way
If anyone out there actually knows how to do this type of animation in Davinci Resolve, please leave a comment. I would like to connect.
Have you seen mystery inc?
Welcome back !
Sorry, I can't sign twice)
Nice video, I've been looking for something like this for a long time, thanks)🔥🔥🔥
I hope this rigged animation can be done on the iPad version.
Great work!
Awesome vid!
I have a question. I really appriciate your work and i want to ask can maybe make tutorial on stranger things gate to upside down. Thanks for your work!
Great video 👌🏾
Ok but a more interesting question, is DaVinci Resolve capable enough to make all the visuals for a ytpmv?
It would be very helpfull id you could also say which things are for the paid version and which thing can be done with the free Davinci Resolve, but very nice video I will follow you :))
Everything in this video was made using the free version :)
