  • There is a lot of misconception about tonnage in this industry. With a well designed machine you can get away with a lot less and drastically increase cycle times. This is what we try and do here at Eastonmade. Our 5-11/9-16/12-22 are all built of this same chassis rated at 24 tons. As you can see with proper technique and a well designed machine tough stringy pieces still go through with relative ease.
    Give us a call if your looking for your last wood splitter!!!!

    That was impressive. Why is everyone always so concerned about elm? I live and VA, and there is some elm around, but most firewood is oak. I often get comments on videos of my splitter of people saying they would like to see it split elm. Maybe next time start out and let us hear the machine for a little bit, then do some music.

      Tractor Tech :: In response to your question about Elm, here in many of the Midwestern U.S. states, Elm is one of the most challenging species to crack. Tenacious would be stating it mildly. It just doesn’t like to give up. Running Elm through the Box Wedge seems like a pretty good indicator of a splitter’s ability to push through. Of course if you toss in a few knots for good measure along with this stringy variety, you really have a good show. Elm is a good hot burn too, so if it’s dead, I gather it up. Simply my opinion, your mileage may vary.🤔
      Blessings!

    It's kind of like the ratings they put on those little lawn mowers 25 horsepower like really I've got a farm tractor That's rated at 25 horsepower at the PTO so I've always been skeptical of ratings this makes sense now about the hardware store log splitters being way overrated lol most marketing is total BS thanks for the heads up. 1 comparison video I would like to see would be Wolf ridge vs Eastonmade go head-to-head with similar rated splitters? That would be a cool RUclips video.

    Like your super honest opinion on other machines. I have an Iron and Oak 22 ton splitter, but is it truly 22 ton.
    Can you share your opinion on this machine? I plan on selling it, and buying one of your 22-28s, and want to be honest to the next owner of the iron and oak machine.
    Thank you in advance.

      We have lots of guys upgrade from the iron and oak. The commercial units hold their value well and guys seem to really like them.

      Same here. Does it grunt and groan or whine; is it a rattle trap. Not sure of the tonnage on mine but it wouldn't split the crotch of an old oak; had to shave off strips from the outside in.

    Why elm? It's burns cold, you'd get about as much heat off burning damp paper 🤔

    • @EastonmadeWoodSplitters
      @EastonmadeWoodSplitters  4 года назад +1

      I agree that it's not typically the best firewood but it is incredibly hard tough stuff to split and really puts a machine to the test. That's for taking the time to leave some feedback

      Red elm burns very hot. I have a greens colonial gravity furnace in my house. It is 1/2 inch thick cast iron and it will make the burn bowl glow red at full air supply.
