Wolfe Ridge Box Wedge Log Splitter - All Wedge Options Demonstrated!

- Today for #WolfeRidgeWednesday we are showing the different box wedge options available from Wolfe Ridge. The box wedge is only available on the 35 SHO / 35 HDI configuration, and it uses a completely different main beam from our other horizontal log splitters. We visited Brent from Around the Yard and he let us make a bunch of firewood with all the different box wedge options.
Standard size = 3.5" x 3.5"
Current optional sizes:
3" x 3"
4" x 4"
4.5" x 4.5"
In testing and development (and shown in this video):
2" x 3"
2" x 4"
One thing to note about a box wedge is, the smaller the split size, the more chaff / kindling / debris you will produce. However you will also make a large amount of nice firewood, without the need to resplit from the pile.

Man, that 4.5 x 4.5 is quick and had best looking wood imo.

I like this format: On location at a Wolfe Ridge owner. I can see some future "micro-product shows" in different locations where a few 'Woodhounds' in the same area could gather to see products demonstrated / tested.
This also greatly inceases Seller - buyer relationship.

I like the bigger pieces, also like how the box doesn’t ride up hen you start splitting, I’ve seen others hat the box raises as you load it up making tapered firewood.
Good video showcasing the different box wedge configurations 👍 I like his stacking in the totes, looks like it makes the bundle making more efficient.

Cool video Brent and Bob! That splitter is a beast! I’m with Brent on the 2x4 wedge. Especially like you said if you have smaller diameter rounds you will get more out of the center slots. That was awesome you left the wedge for Brent! Good stuff Bob👊🏻

Having never run with a box wedge, I like the clean quick results from the 4x4, yeah you will have to do a few re-splits for a smoker but, 90% will go right into a fireplace or firepit for me.
That 4 & 1/2 is awesome! Long lasting kindling!!!!

The difference in engine load over the 6 different types, was very noticeable.
I can see someone wanting the 5" for outdoor boiler wood.

The 4" would work for are insert, its an above average size. And the bigger wood would make a little less junk and burn a little longer.

Im thinking the 2 smallest prototypes, need a little more adjusting in my opinion.
The 3" wedge makes absolutely perfect sizes in my opinion. I know my customers would prefer those!

It’s too bad the box wedge cannot go on the regular wedge designed machines.
Dam, I wish I would have gotten a 4x4 or 5x5.
