got the D5 xc70 variant - best car ive ever had, i actually sold a later model V70 to step back to this true Swede build quality... lovely on a long run. Also had the 850 with the 20valve 170bhp 5 pot and agree it was a peach of an engine

I had to buy a new car in feb before the ulez kicked in. I have a large dog who used to take up the entire back seat of my hatchback. Bought my 02 v70 2.4T and it’s been proper reliable and comfortable. This car has been perfect for me and my dog and always brings a smile to my face as i drive. Only issue I’ve had is the alarm system. If locking with the keyfob, the silent alarm can randomly start going off. Have to lock it manually with the key (which I’m more used to with my other car lol).

I've been considering one of these, and you might've just pushed me over the edge!

Go for it. You won’t regret it. Great to drive, reliable, well equipped, comfortable, safe, solid, decent handling and tuneable (if you want). Spares are in abundance and if they do go wrong, are reasonable to sort. Make sure you watch my other video on how to check the cam belt in case you go to view one. Good luck 👍

This is the car I want when I return to the UK, I'm looking something that's good value, reliable, and has room to sleep in the back for the occasional weekend adventure.

Got one in the same colour and year, mines the d5 with 113000 on ... so lovely and comfy to drive and decent mpg i.e. around 42 to 45mpg on a run. Had the common fault of the dashboard info failing but there are a few companies that will take your dashboard and update the internals and it cures the mis-information that can occur. Other common issue is the car can go through bulbs for some reason? Other than that ...I am expoecting this car to go through to 250,000 to 300,000 miles easily as long as I keep it serviced, great cars ... just wish the road tax was cheaper!

In my 2006 s60's manual, they have the wrong info for which bulb to use for brake bulb. The manual tells what base(screw) the bulb uses, but isn't specific enough as there are many different bulbs that use the same base, and the wrong kind can burn out quickly or not work. So for my brake light I had to look for a part number on the plastic holder the bulbs screw into, and looked for that part number on Matthews Volvo site to buy the correct bulb. It seems to be working well for 2 years now!
Also make sure you aren't touching the bulbs with your skin while installing them.

I used to have a 5 cylinder diesel S60 in silver on a 05 plate. I'd had it for 9 years before I part ex'd it for a Mk 2 face-lifted S60 on a 15 plate nearly 3 years ago. It wasn't the most reliable car I've had but I absolutely adored it and was sorry to see it go. The kick in the teeth for me was the fact that I only got a couple of hundred quid in part ex on it, and I reckon the garage/dealer scrapped what was a perfectly good car. It had over 11 months MOT on it, and I checked the government website over the subsequent months and it was never reregistered/taxed. Which told me it had been scrapped! I should have sold it privately and maybe got £1000/£1200 for it, and someone would have got a perfectly good car. The only issue I had with it, was that I found it virtually impossible to replace the headlamp bulbs on it - which it went through quite frequently.

It would have been a shame if the car was scrapped. It may be that the dealer “put it into trade” which means he can drive it on trade plates without the need to tax or register it. It won’t show up on most searches as such. Then one day it’ll get sold for a healthy profit by the sound of things, and you may even see it parked next to you at Tesco. Anything is possible

I’ve got a 2007 2.0t. Bought for €1,300 We really love the car leather interior in very good condition. Engine very smooth and great torque. 2.0 is big enough here in Ireland because of our high road tax. My brother has one also. Thanks for the review.
I believe Volvo used a Scottish tannery for their leather interiors.

Great post. …. You’ve tried the naturally aspirated 3.2 though, right? …. 👌

The 3.2 wasn’t available in this shape, only on the cars from late 2006. I haven’t driven one but would like to
